  1. Nah. You want to "won" the argument? Go do the work. I'm not legitimizing your 3rd grade attempt at discourse. I mean, even just from a bizdev stand point - New molds had to be made for the entire CMF line, means a short production run. Unlike the regular CMF's. And the speed at which it was retired was nuts. - WB had faith that people would buy them, Looney Tunes being something that grabs the "collector" dollar, but the target market was never kids. There has to be a push from Disney, just the sheer amount of properties they own must make the process hell on the design team. Also heroes and villains probably need to be balanced?
  2. Here's the SKU 6000203241549 go satisfy yourself? I mean there are a ton of API scrapers, go nuts. That said if WB are going to do another series, Animaniacs would be a better choice?
  3. Just email them and ask dude? You'd be amazed at the information people will give you if you send a polite email. Oh I fully belive it would take something huge for them to drop the license but scaling it back? That is a little easier to do. But you can't judge the fandom on Kings Cross and The Shambles, The stores in the shambles have pretty small occupancy limits, I think the max is like 10 (medieval streets not being massive) and the area is a *huge* tourist trap, but the Golden Fleece across the street does an amazing steak pie.
  4. TLG doesn't publish sales figures but Target, Walmart and Krogers do. And Lego's numbers would really only be a macro view since they are creator and distributor rather than a store front. Ultimately the CMF's will always come down to contractual agreements between TLG and the license holders.
  5. Ok, but really? The Harry Potter franchise has...issues ( Transphobe author, Actors in franchises grooming teens, Legacy having weird cancellations) not exactly making it high on Lego's list. Looney toons sold poorly. Hanna barbera are owned by Warner and they have major issues with a notable lack of direction (see Scoob! for example). Sonic has new sets coming out so the focus is that for TLG. Video game licensing would take longer than most as it would have to be done individually with each studio and ACTIBLIZ probably hasn't helped the cause, despite the Tallneck being very cool.
  6. Regarding the jaw piece, seen a lot of whining about that. So as a reminder Tolkien's description "They are (or were) squat, broad, flat-nosed, sallow-skinned, with wide mouths and slant eyes." And likened them to the Mongol hordes. Every depiction of them has been Due to another artist and Tolkien has letters to his publisher lambasting his artistic ability, especially being able to bring forth the image in his head. He also wanted each reader (or spectator) of his stories to give the words he used “a peculiar personal embodiment in his imagination" Moreover his work is *the* blueprint for every modern Ork that exists in fantasy from D&D to Warcraft To Warhammer
  7. Who's ranting? TLG chose Series 23 to announce the change and show mock-ups, not that they are doing it for Series 23. There should always be resistance to anti-consumer moves by large corporations. It's the boiling frog metaphor, if small changes are made and accepted, it's not long before things get worse.
  8. Yeah? And? It's still a terrible, predatory and anti-consumer move. If they want to change a format for whatever reason there are better ways they could do it.

    LEGO Store "Build a Minifigure"

Um...Last I checked bro, The Aztec empire is kinda finished. The Samurai abolition happened in 1876. And Lego has 2 in recent history (everything else is Ninjago which is excellent use of myth and legend) Pirates...I mean Henry Every was possibly the last great one, and they very much, like Ninjago are based on myth and legend. Vikings, Did what they did best and adapted to a changing world...And the last one was fairly accurate, quite an excellent figure. So all of them are 'dead' cultures. They are costumes at best. Indigenous north american cultures on the other hand are, very much, still living cultures. You get how they are different right? I mean today is National Indigenous Peoples Day here in Canada, so lots of living, breathing culture going on today. As for "soft" you mean empathetic and culturally aware right? And I'm pretty sure the box you reside in is plenty small.

Thanks for doing me that courtesy, but if you'll re-read my post, I was speaking to the eagle feather in general, as were you in the post I was responding to (at least partially). I'll concede that there may be the germ of a false equivalency there, but it was a quickly-pulled comparison to make a point, not an effort to score in a structured debate. More than a germ of false equivelency, given that the sacrement is open to all, while war bonnets are only worn by a select few. I disagree with the simplicity you are assigning to some sort of cultural approval process. I think that would be vastly more complex, and rife with potential pitfalls. That being said, how would we even know if there were some effort on TLG's part to do exactly that? Does any non-white European minifig have to come with a press release? Consultation wouldn't be that hard, Nearly every tribe have a record keeper who will know patterns, styles etc. Also "oh no it might be difficult" isn't a reason to not do it. I believe this is a very important note by you that does a good job of pointing out the core of the problem: “this could be a problem if the right steps weren’t taken while making it, and that’s why some people might have a knee jerk reaction to thinking it’s a bad idea” Must we be beholden to knee jerk reactions? Nobody in this conversation can point to any instance of any Native American or representative organization taking umbrage with this minifig. Instead it's just fuel for culture war, instead of appreciating different cultures on their own merits. There is a reason LTG stopped making the western theme. These are tokenized, objectified, static images of Native cultures that are not really representative or contextually appropriate. As for "representative organizations" Each tribe represents itself, but stuff like clean water, pipeline protests etc useually takes the lions share of time. The womens brick initiative has an in-depth look at POC and lego https://womensbrickinitiative.com/diverse-lego-minifigure-petition/ Preservation of culture is essential for identity, No one is waging "war", Just protecting and promoting their identity. For the sake of this topic, I'm going to end my participation in this here. I should know better. Keyboard battles rarely change minds.

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces

I can see kinda where you are coming from, but the discussion was about the site? Or is the fact that TLG are being opaque about where, when or how licensed pieces will be added back somehow not relevant? While B&P was in no way perfect, It's not realistic, or environmentally responsible, for TLG to suggest that the only way for serious fans to get their hands on new parts is to buy a bunch of sets, and that's before the sellers realise that they can ramp up their prices even more for scarce parts. I feel how the site is developed and run is on topic. Eurobricks is both a place for community *and* for information, and outside of Star Wars, the licensed sub covers everything else. "This is the discussion thread for licensed/rare/interesting parts that are available from Lego's Bricks and Pieces Service." A service which no longer exists and has changed to something else. Are we not allowed to discuss and constructively criticise the new site? I mean, the backlog means haul posts are scarce, and what pieces are available has been impacted by the new changes?

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces

Think you miss the point. Game dev and Biz Dev are two wholly different fields, not to mention that Lego's site is basically just large stock database. They are one of the most beloved companies in the world, their issue is management of key growth areas. They are a global company trying to maintain a small, family style work environment, which causes bottlenecks in regards to growth.

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces

Which games? Live service? Stand alone titles? You have to be more specific. Also E-commerce sites have way less moving parts than video games. They don't need to account for rigging, animation, art resources, logic going wrong, dumb AI. The comparison is laughable, more so given that they Lego System is so well done, each part has an integer code, not only that but each colour has it's own code. This should be a stellar site, with a great process and ease of use, but it's not, because like every company, IT services are seen as a loss of revenue. A billion dollar company like TLG could *easily* find enthusiastic talent to boost the *already in house* team, of course they have a "tech" dept, but hell they could outsource it if they really wanted to, especially for apps like Hidden Side and Vidiyo.

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces

See that is bullshirt, as a former QA, TLG could easily afford to hire an entire dept than deals with the tech side, they just choose to work with what they have in house already. If your going to compare it to video games, think of it as a live service game where updates and bug fixes come quickly, rather than..well..what the site currently is.

    Ideas for CMFs

Oh, I'm aware of the modern Germanic inspiration you took, I'm just saying The Sandman is out in a few months, so even if you were unaware of it before, Netflix will make it a big splash. And Octan was a front dude, I could see *a* classic space individual going Evil, but not the entire organisation, it's modelled after NASA and even then it's NASA as it aspires to be. An AI would need to be more than a chip, I mean 'dumb' AI system like Google home, Siri etc aren't true AI, true AI would be....scary I mean https://www.makeuseof.com/ai-gone-rogue-times-ai-went-too-far/

To add to the discussion; A.I. Robot: Ok, but what makes him an Artificial Intelligence? I like the pull to the aesthetic al'a Oblivion but even that suit had personality. A splash of colour would enhance the sterile look. Also I feel the classic space guy's are unlikely to become morally questionable? they are so bright! and cheerful! Sandman: He was going to be in Series X but I brought him here (I can't even remember why at this point). I really liked how he came out. I'm found out about the upcoming Sandman movie coming while working on him, but I can't see why that would be an issue. So many people would buy an actual Sandman set dude. Gaul was a last minute addition. A Milkman was originally here. I'm glad I changed it, because I'm really pleased on how he came out. You should feel proud of that one dude, so many people hear Gaul and think Asterix, it's nice to see something that would fit well with the Romans and Vikings already released. Harpy has been in my to-do list from the very beginning... and to think she ended up in the second to last series is crazy. I don't know about the idea of using the chicken suit wings.... I feel it would take away the menacing look the character needs. Yeah we don't need a cuddly Harpy, she's not all boobalicious, and how many wings are already out on Ninjago?! Also they are monsters so join the ranks of medusa, etc. Retro Gangsta. My first idea was to make a human version of Brick Daddy from Space Police, but it looked too much like a costume, rather than an actual.... well, retro gangsta. He was originally in Series W, but ended up being replaced with the Carnival Man. I know this is a sensitive issue, but itsn't it also the Series 5 Gangster? Brick Daddy passes as he's an alien, an updated version would be sweet tho. The series 5 gangster isn't directly a criminal. And I can't see parents wanting to explain what a pimp is?

It would be cool, but Rick Riordan will be playing things close to the chest given how badly Fox screwed with the films. And lets face it, it was **BAD** and whoever plays Annabeth has to follow well...

    Ideas for CMFs

You could do it as folklore mother earth but omit the globe, while an interesting part, it wouldn't really be needed. The flower crown would sell the idea own it's own merits. You get that it's more than a religious building right? The sheer engineering alone makes it perfect for TLG to make, not to mention the fact that the art and more than a single lifetime to complete make it a new wonder of the world?

Ok, I'll weight in. Date Night Girl: Solid city entry. Good execution. little sappy but that is some peoples jam. Nesting Doll: This is different enough to stand out but not sure it would be worth the production cost for a new mould? Knight Templar/Knight Hospitaller: Religious overtones if the not good kind. Also the crusades....? Yikes. Mother Nature: Gaia is a solid concept, might also run afoul of the religion rules given the Godess rule Reptilian: Awesome. would love to see a more 'V' type skin tear head like Two Face. Goo Monster: The Gelatinous cube made flesh! Brilliant use of current parts Harpy: This is a wonderful interpretation of the myth. Sandman: Print job is cool, the cloud is a nice touch, but Sandman would be touchy, new netflix series and comic etc. 'Mr.Sandman' might be better? Steampunk Robot: Not bad. Getting a big 'Tick Tock' vibe :D The back is neat as well. AI Soldier: This one is a disappointment. Very boring design, flat silver and the only thing that make it 'futuristic is the space logo. And what makes it AI? I'd suggest Robopocalyse and The Murderbot diaries to see what AI would do regarding form and combat doctrine. Gaul: Nice historical fig. the shield is very well done. nice little companion to the Highland battler. Gangsta: Yeah, naw Dawg. Sex trafficking is a much bigger problem than most people think, if they even think about it at all. Dinosaur Lad: Now this is spectatular! And a great example of what the suited minis should be.And the dog is awesome.

    LEGO Videogame Tie-Ins - Rumors & Discussion

Yeah, no, I mean if you play the game it tells the story of what came before quite well, not only that but as someone who read the art book, you can see how well crafted the world is. There are solid reasons as to why the tribes look and act as they do. And y'know robot dinosaurs....

    LEGO Videogame Tie-Ins - Rumors & Discussion

Stranger things was tied to season one which was a cultural phenomenon. Monster fighter was a universal monster riff and Hidden Side was very underwhelming.Resident Evil isn't really Lego's kind of franchise. It's been beaten to death and jumped the megalodon so many time already. 18+ doesn't have to mean guns and blood. And there are so,SO many themes that deserve being made before Resi.

    LEGO Videogame Tie-Ins - Rumors & Discussion

Oh I'd love a Temple of Time set, The market *is* there, but, like most biz dev, Nintendo play it safe with 3rd parties. Look at controllers, only Power A make them for the switch for a reason (terrible 3rd party controllers you make your little brother use). Not to mention Amiibo are the toy Nintendo want you playing with. Playstation are a safe bet as a partner. They fostered a lot of small studios that made great games. And HZD was only beaten by BotW for game of the year because, well..Zelda... Bar and *restaurant*. Egg and Chips Anyone? I think a FF7 CMF would be lit as well.
