[MOC] Ferrari LaFerrari 1:8
Polarlicht replied to T Lego's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Sounds good to me. I might get this set, but only with the 5 spoke wheels. I guess they used the chrome wheels, since they had them right away, and making new moulds takes a while. -

I think it looks a bit better in this video than on the press pictures. -

I got the yellow version, which is RC only, and i just left all RC stuff out of the build. Only red one comes in 2 versions, RC or without RC I replaced the motors inside with a couple of technic parts to support surrounding structures, and connected the paddle shifters with an axle to the gearbox (literally just an axle where the servo would have been), and thats it iirc. I can recommend it! I wanted the yellow version because i liked the color better, and also had in mind using the RC components for other builds. But if you like red better, and don't need the RC stuff not even for other builds, then definitely get the static version! -

There are pictures on page 26 with the box showing that its RC. But it would be great to get a non-RC version, like on the other car from Bruno, the Ferrari 488 The LaFerrari is non-motorized. -

Is there information on when the Mercedes AMG Project One comes out? And will there be a non RC version? The box says set number C61503W. But thats already the V12 hypercar, so is the number a placeholder? -
Did nobody notice the tile pattern in some decks doesn't line up, like here in the pool room?! Also these bow pieces wouldn't stay together and there would always be a gap on their ends, so i added those COBI connectors, which are just great!

The Centanario does have special wheels, and thats not licensed either. -

Is there a reason, why they made specific wheels for this, and not for the LaFerrari? Yes, the Ferrari is not licensed or anything, but thats not the reason! -

Has anyone build a base plate anchored train spiral?
Polarlicht replied to Afolomus's topic in LEGO Train Tech
How long are your trains? I can barely even drive with the full Santa Fe train with two PF train motors on an incline of like 3m length and 20cm height difference. -
This is my Santa Fe B-unit. It powers and drives the whole train by itself. It has a rechargeable battery, 2 PF train motors, IR receiver, a switch and an older 9V cable going to the front engine for an old 9V light brick. I used mostly my own parts i had laying around, to get it as cheaply as possible. But had to order the red train base from Bricklink, and from B&P the printed discs on the roof, 2 weight bricks and other random pieces, ofc not in old light grey Cable for light going through. Also you can see one side of the weight brick, with the little indent, on the left. Whole super chief train on my new WIP layout. 2 A-units, 1 B-unit, and 1 each of the 5 Santa Fe train cars available 20 years ago. It is my pride and joy!

Yours is a proper one, with all the correct stickers and windows and old light grey :)

[MOD] Jurassic Park T-Rex Breakout 76956 Mod
Polarlicht replied to Polarlicht's topic in LEGO Licensed
I thought using a minecraft goat, but thats more a mountain goat i think 😄 -
Decided to mod the T Rex Breakout diorama, since i didn't really like the original set. I know this modded scene probably didn't happen like that in the movie, but i don't care. I basically bought two sets and combined them. I have a fully intact #04 car now. The foot prints are now more in the center of the ground plate. Ground plate is raised by one brick. Removed the imprint of the upside down car on the left. Groundplate is now almost mirrored from left to right in it's build Changed the cars bumpers to look more sleek. Original looked ridiculous! Also since i bought two sets, i just built a second T Rex... and a six-wheeled car with some remaining parts, for the lols This six-wheeler doesn't have the giant glass skylight roof, instead it has a traditional roof with a solar panel made with satin trans black opalescent 1x4 tiles. Weren't the vehicles in the movie electric powered as well?

I have the Ferrari Pista (yellow version) and it's the same quality as the Centanario... might be an older batch? -

Looks absolutely magnificant! I am tempted. Wish it had the 5-spoke center-lock wheels, though! I already have your blue Supercar... which, to be honest, i still have nitemares of! Not because of your MOC itself, but rather than the not so great quality and meh clutch power of CADA technic pieces, in combination with your complex bulding. It did not felt great to put together. Building experience would have felt way better with Lego pieces... Yes, i could have just downloaded the instructions and bought Lego pieces, but it also would be higher price, so fair enough. Hope CADA got their technic parts quality right nowadays!? I don't see any people really talking about this, so i guess it's better? -

Also just noticed the dark red tile with "LEGO" printed on it, as a door mat. Used in the farmtruck before -

No, but you could use like a paint-pen. I used regular black spray paint and silver Revell color on a tooth pick. No tape. -

Why did they use 8 cam pieces? Wouldn't 4 be enough? Even the Bolide with its W16 only has 4 iirc -
