I very nearly bought one of those first sets that popped up on eBay... I had every opportunity to do it. Kind of regretting not pulling the trigger now.

As much as it pains me to do so... I'm holding off my purchase for a good GWP promotion. I have no worries about this one going out of stock like POBB, TLG seems to have gotten past their major supply issues. But the fact that the set launched for VIPs with absolutely no promotions at all is extremely disappointing. Even if it had been the Blacktron set again, at least that would have been something (though, I already have that one). So even though I am super anxious to get my hands on the set, I'm going to be patient and hold out for a bit.

Wow @Marooned Marin, truly impressive! The ship is properly imposing and fear-worthy! You seemed to capture the essence and proportions very well.

The mismatched clothing I think is part of what makes this figure look so authentically good!

The worst years for brittle brown seem to be roughly 2009-2016. So, the PotC sets are absolutely in that realm. I also have had some really bad luck with the 2010 Imperial Flagship. My Brickbeard's Bounty and Brick Bounty both have faired pretty well however with only a couple broken pieces.

I get a lot of "classic" vibes from this and I'm loving it!

I, for one, am in disagreement with @zinnn about the color scheme. Regardless of what might have "looked better" I much prefer that they stuck to the nostolgic choice for colors.

There is an unsubstantiated rumor going around that the 18+ Icons D2C set 10320 is going to be a Pirates set! July release, 2509 pieces, $215 USD

Sooooo excited for this set!! I actually surpasses my expectations I think. I love the inclusion of the merchant ship! And the somewhat modular design I think looks great!

In celebration of completing my collection of the classic Pirates theme (1989-1997) and of reaching a milestone on my Instagram account, I've been posting a series of photos of my collection showing the complete theme year by year. It's been so much fun to collect all of these sets and then getting them photographed and sharing them! 1989 1990 (this is the odd year out, since according to Brickset no sets were released in 1990, however we do have the awesome Idea Book 260 from that year so I included the builds it has instructions for) 1991 1992 1993 1994 1995 1996 1997

Thank you so much, I really appreciate that! I continue to add to the collection, though that of course has slowed down now that I have the complete wave of classic Pirates sets. But I have recently added the comic in Danish as well as the German audio cassettes for instance. I also have expanded the collection with most of the other ships released since '97 as well. I'm doing another huge Pirates display next year, so I will have new pics to share again in the future!
