  1. Hi I am renewing my lego train company as I have just got two horizon express (to be added to the Metroliner and the freight train 4564). Whe I was a kid I also owned the 4561 but I never liked it. Using the baseplates of the two carriages and the windows I have designed a very basic model of double decker carriage. I am a fan of the 90s 9v lego train, which are quite simple in the design. Here there are not very smart solution or design but this is more a carriage many of us can build with leftover parts from classical sets. For the doors, I am planning to use the same system of the Horizon express but here I kept everything very basic. I am waiting for your comments and suggestions for improving it :)
  2. Did you check mine? http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=96575&view=getnewpost It is pretty much inspired by the classic 9v era stations.
  3. Hello, I am making bigger my station and I am building aside a cargo terminal. So I share with you some pictures of the present state of my Layout and I hope to have comments and suggestions on how to make it better. Let's start with the station: It consists of 4 platforms and a main terminal building. The station is somehow inspired by the System sets although is quite customized. More pics: In this picture you can see also my mini-sized ETR500 (frecciarossa) that is not as beautiful as the one posted by bmacro but it is "in scale" with my layout. Let's go to the cargo terminal. This is inspired by the set 4555,although it is heavily customized as well. The crane is functional. interiors are poor. There are control centers are the ground level as well as the upper floor. And finally a custom element of my layout: the bridge and the tunnel. you can also see a video here: I am waiting for your comments suggestions! :classic:

    MOC - Small Airport

Yes of course I am planning to build a station! Does somebody has some experience about curved platforms? I think the airport will be out of proportion with respect to the other buildings in my city if I try to raise it over the track.

    MOC - Small Airport

B-OV-28D Hello! Easter is coming and it's now time to book an holyday! I suggest to use my new Lego airport for your holyday if you want to visit my Legoland city full of historical buildings (like the egyptian tomb or the cathedral that you may see in the pictures). Talking seriously, I've finished to adjust the small airport of my city and I'm eventually happy with the result even if I would like to expand it and create a proper aiport hub (with terminals, fuel facilities, a proper runway). At the moment is integreated in my small city which is still very work in progress!

    MOC - Small Airport

Thanks! I wanted to raise the runway but I have a problem with the horizon express which requires very large tunnel entrances as its head doesn't follow well the tracks, but I may do it in the future

    MOC - Small Airport

Hello! Here some updates of my Airport which now has a proper runway! I also changed the gates and make them more functional. I am planning to make some more additions but I don't really know what to do with the space left. Any suggestions?
  9. Hi guys, I don't realli like batteries and I am wondering if I can motorize the Carrousel of the winter village market 10235 by using a technic motor (for example the Electric Technic Mini-Motor 9v' (71427c01)) and connecting the motor to a rail 9v track by the element 5306c01. Of course I have other elements 5306c01 connected to the speed regulators. Would it work? I guess the Carrousel will turn faster when the train will go faster but this is not a big deal. I tried to connect 5306c01 to a 9v light and it works for supplying energy to the light. Thanks!
  10. Hi guys, little by little I am expanding my LOTR layout. I decided to use all the pieces from the Mines of Moria set to build the upper part of the Helm's deep and make a bit of the mountain as well. I did not use other pieces because I wanted to see if it was possible to have a nice extension without the need for buying other stuffs (I am aware there are much nicer Helm's deep around!) https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-uuhI88T9Uog/Uz3Fnr7xEzI/AAAAAAAAB9c/AcA43S3650s/w737-h553-no/20140322_125729.jpg https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-SImiMlw4qpk/Uz3FwvU4mAI/AAAAAAAAB9k/dqjcjM-K6xQ/w737-h553-no/20140322_125711.jpg https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-WtiYvtIMTuU/Uz3F5y7a1XI/AAAAAAAAB9s/08anDELYTf0/w415-h553-no/20140322_125721.jpg https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-mF1vUenocAM/Uz3GBz_1HNI/AAAAAAAAB90/43jB_QTaL2Q/w737-h553-no/20140322_125746.jpg https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-PeOBZyVMluM/Uz3GJPoPeMI/AAAAAAAAB98/TA8As-iInqo/w737-h553-no/20140322_125656.jpg Of course, since everything is work-in-progress, any feedback is welcome!

    10244 Fairground Mixer

I quite prefer my winter village market Carrouesel. As somebody said there is something wrong with the color scheme and, although it adds playbility, I am not interested in having the truck. And I am wondering if these playbility features are really necessary for a set 16+
  12. Thanks, I will try and see how it works like this!
  13. Thanks for your answer. The problem is my speed regulators are quite far from the point of the layout where the Carrousel is installed but there is a track nearby.

    Storncastle

Very nice castle! It is classic in the idea and modern in the way you designed. I love it!
  15. Would you suggest to use sand baseplates? I was thinking to use the green ones and add details on them. Also, what about using elves from Hobbit sets for the battle of the Helm's deep?
  16. Hi guys, after the astonishingly beautiful Frecciarossa by bmacro , it is my turn to show a completely different model concept. It is surely less realistic but it is kind of the same scale of the Horizon Exrpress and other lego trains and can negotiate the standard lego curves. The doors opening system is the same as for the Horizon express. Interiors are quite simple. There is a second class car: and a restaurant car (The chef is preparing something sweet to eat, maybe icecream?) You can find a video of the train running in my layout here: The layout (as well as the train) is working progress. You may have noticed that I am still missing some decoration for the wheels I prefer to build my models and add only the original LEGO model that fit in my town. However this requires continuous modifications! I am happy to listen to your comments!

    Italian E 424

Wow! Very beautiful! And very "sexy" italian loco that reminds me of when I was a child and, in Sicily, regional train were operated with the E 424 :)

    LEGO LotR - general discussion

I own Orthanc and the Helm's deep set with the Uruk-hai army expansion and I think lego really did not very well with the marketing of the lord of the rings. Offering very expensive sets with only few non main character minifigs can be a good choice for star wars but not for LOTR where one needs a lot of soldiers and orcs to create nice battles. This is true not only for collectors, but also for children. Many times at the lego shops I have seen children asking the mother to buy the classic castle because it was easier to get normal soldiers. I would have personally bought other sets like the Black gate but, really, what can I do with tons of Gandals and aragorns and none soldiers? I think I invest quite a lot of my savings in Lego and I am kind of disappointed the way they manage these sets. They just cannot sell a lot, the way they made it! It will be very sad not to have a Minas Tirith set or a Balrog, or Sauron's tower.

MOC: Italian regional train FS Aln 663

    Very nice moc!!
  21. Hi, I have created this italian eletric locomotive, you can find a picture of the real model here: http://www.kf-models...o_E656_XMPR.JPG The colors chosen by the italian train company are quite lego "unfriendly" so this moc it will be for longtime just digital one, unless I manage to find some way to color the bricks (can you point me how, if you know?). I wanted to keep the 6 studs width and a length of a classical lego locomotive, so the proportions are, of course, quite different than the original model. The most difficult part was the front shape, where I wanted to fit anyway some lights, without losing the charecteristic slope. In reality this loco as 6 axes and articulate around the center. This doesn't seem very difficult to do, although the problem will be to motorize it afterwards. the only things I am really not happy with are the circular windows on the sides. Suggestions for that? Some screenshots: https://lh3.googleus...no/E656bis2.png https://lh5.googleus...no/E656bis3.png https://lh4.googleus...-no/E656bis.png hope you like!

MOC: Trenitalia E656 in xmpr colors locomotive

Thanks! Right, Stickers are a good idea I have really few sand green bricks actually. I got it with the helm's deep set! Anyway, this christmas I will be busy in building another Italian train: the"frecciarossa" high speed train: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/cf/Naples,_Central_station,_gorgeous_long-distance_train.jpg I have already done the model in LDD and ordered the pieces on bricklink for two locos and two carriages. Anyway I am kind of a newbie and I am here to learn from you guys!

MOC: Trenitalia E656 in xmpr colors locomotive

You are right! But then it will be out of proportion with the horizon express I already have in my layout and only this loco will be half of my metroliner length! Then I wouldn't know how to do a 9v six axis motor which can negotiate the standard lego curves. Suggestions are more then welcome!
