My first minifigure: post your story
Borador replied to Mr Meleca's topic in General LEGO Discussion
If I recall correctly- and I probably don't- but if I do, I got most of my original childhood LEGO around the same time, WAY before I can remember. But- The earliest memories of a minifigure I have are of this guy: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?M=jstr009 Except he had no helmet. We randomly found him in the Lincoln logs drawer and thought he was amusing. We called him Elvis, due to him bringing the King to our minds. Despite being bald. I ought to find him and give him a proper Elvis hair piece as a tribute to both the real King and the figure. -
Somehow I've managed to forget to comment on this... The ball droid looks odd in pictures, but when in motion it looks pretty good. I'd have to see the movie to know if it really works or not; these couple seconds probably don't do it justice. The lightsaber hilt really doesn't make sense, but it looks so cool. Has a very interesting look to it, I wonder what it'll look like when two of them fight. I think that's it, honestly, I am really looking forward to seeing this, mostly just so I can know if it will be any good or not. Not knowing is bugging me, I'd like to see if they really do know what they're doing or if they're just gonna mess it up. I am really excited to find out!

Marvel Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussion

He wasn't talking about the Iron Man helmet, he meant the one with the trans-yellow. I say, it's possible, but I don't persoanlly think it will be. -
Ghostbusters 30th Anniversary CUUSOO set Discussion
Borador replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in LEGO Licensed
Yeah, I heard that too. If I may be totally honest, I think a reboot would be the best way to go, but maybe not a total reboot, maybe just like what they're doing with Star Wars 7 (new cast with the old cast as well). I think I'll be interested no matter what they do though. An all female team would certainly be a good place to start the reboot, I think... As to the rumor of more sets... only if another movie happens. And a bit more on topic, the set is fantastic. But more than anything, I have to compliment the fact that the original project was so well done that they didn't change that much. Really excellent work. -
That is interesting. Would you say that the quality is better or worse than LEGO's rubber pieces like Kit Fisto's head or Loki's helmet?

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 13 Rumours and Discussion
Borador replied to just2good's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I didn't read this whole debate that has ensued over Lady Cyclops's lipstick, so I apologize if my opinion has been covered before, but... I don't care that it isn't realistic. I don't care that it doesn't make sense. I simply think that it looks bad. I do not like it because it does not look good. Nothing else matters to me. Is it dumb and unrealistic? You could say that, but that isn't really important. If it had been done well, then I would not mind it, but it was done very poorly, in my opinion. Thus, because I think it looks bad, I do not like it. My opinion. Think different if you wish, but nothing you can say will change what I think. -

Wow! Finally some clear pictures, The king is great. Is the beard brown or dark brown? Either way, wonderful and useful. I wish the Samurai had a helmet, but I can't complain, look at that printer armor! Wow! Goblin isn't what I was hoping for (I wish he had normal eyes) but still looks pretty good. Space Trooper is kinda boring, if you ask me. A cool concept, but I wish he had a bit more color. Disco Diva is nice, but I'm not keen on that face. That alien is really neat! The eyes look off in the picture, but I'm sure that's just the way the lighting is. Fantastic design. Sheriff is cool, good to see that 'stache in more colors. One of my favorite parts from recent years. Egyptian is perfect! By far the best Egyptian figure yet! I really love it! Hot Dog suit guy is... Well, a guy dressed as a hot dog... I really wish Lady Cyclops didn't have lipstick. I like the idea of a female cyclops, but man, that is poor execution (and I'm still bitter about it not working for Likho) Snake Charmer is nice, but I wish he had the old turbin... I rather like the Carpenter. Couldn't say what it is, but he has a nice look to him. Evil Wizard is... Not that interesting. Fencer, Paleontologist and Unicorn Girl look good, but they aren't really my thing. Overall, an average series, not great, but certainly up to the normal standards. Well done again, LEGO, well done. -
That was fast. Wow, though, they look spectacular- love that bluejay especially, but they are all fantastic.

I think it's pretty much guaranteed that we'll get the raptors and a motorcycle, or something of that nature. People love the raptors, they won't pass that opportunity up. Didn't we have a set-list before? I seem to recall seeing one...

It's kind of hard to judge the new hairpieces without any printing on the ears. They sort of blend in with the hair, and it looks weird. I'm sure they'll be fine once they're done, but for now they just look... off. Will they be yellow or flesh?

There are Raptors. I have to see it for that, if nothing else...

That's probably the most incredible room I've ever seen in my life. Wow

You might want to talk to Kaminoan on Flickr. He has done a lot of work with casting, so he might have some insight. He's a very busy guy these days, but I'd still ask him if you are truly committed to this. He also has a book that you can look at. Here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/kaminoan/

That is perfect- it has the spirit of the video game version, and all the good parts of it, while fixing what flaws it did have. Great job all around!

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 13 Rumours and Discussion
Borador replied to just2good's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I don't they'll reuse that piece as hair. It doesn't have any details like most modern hairpieces have. I'm not sure how I feel about the new turbine piece. Maybe I'm just too attached to the old one, but it just looks... off, to me. I guess we have confirmed that the Paleontologist was the female, then? All the other stuff looks cool. The heads are pretty neat, and that new armor mold is something else. I'm going to avoid going into any detail until we see final pictures, but I like what I see so far. On the Samurai headpiece... That's an interesting one, but it seems more Ninjago to me. I guess we have to wait and see. -
I'm not terribly sure what to make of that. I'm not sure how I feel about those glass balls, They'll probably make for some amazing visuals, but they are a bit odd looking.

Amazing Groot, Darkrattyop. And some more great figures, Autorazr. That is probably the best LEGO Mystique I've ever seen.
-
Really excellent. Way better than the SDCC Version.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 13 Rumours and Discussion

Crud. Not fitting for the personification of evil. I guess Likho will just have to be a bit manly... EDIT: And yes, how do you know that? -
I couldn't have said it better myself. Look, it'd be one thing if we NEVER got any LEGO Lord of the Rings. It'd still be ludicrous to use change.org for something like that, but I could accept it, maybe. But we already got some. It wasn't enough? Life goes on. I think this thread has outlived its purpose. I think this thread outlived its purpose a LONG time ago- ie 70 or 80 pages. I'm not even sure it ever had a purpose in the first place. When did it start? 2013? The year the LAST AND FINAL wave of Lord of the Rings sets was released? And for almost 2 years and 150 pages we've discussed something that doesn't even exist. This thread is so far over the line it can't even see the line. The line is a dot to this thread. Unless I am further provoked, this shall be my last word here.

It should be noted that e-mail campaigns don't really work. Out of curiosity, has there ever been such backlash to the ending of a LEGO line? I mean have people ever been willing to bombard LEGO with e-mails to save any line before? Doesn't mean anything either way, but still, that is interesting.

I personally felt AUJ was too long, random, and ultimately, boring.I loved the Lord of the Rings, but AUJ was just... bad. More Middle-Earth looking, sure. But the pacing was awful. It dragged on way too long, and was, frankly, boring. DoS was MUCH better because the pacing was better. I think it was shorter? I don't know. But it didn't feel long, or boring, or random or anything. It was closer to Lord of the Rings in quality, and that, to me, is what made DoS more Middle-Earth-y. Looks don't count, quality does. And DoS was closer to Lord of the Rings in that respect. Not quite there (seriously, pouring gold on the dragon?) but it was much better than AUJ, which was a huge failure in terms of pacing. At least, I believe. But when I was watching DoS, I got that sense of Adventure, that fun, that heart, and all that good stuff from Lord of the Rings that AUJ didn't have. I was really happy with that. Still not quite perfect, but a big improvement. If the trend continues, and if BotFA is better than DoS, then I'm sure I'll be totally thrilled with that one.
