MOC: Trenitalia E656 in xmpr colors locomotive

Recommended Posts

Hi, I have created this italian eletric locomotive, you can find a picture of the real model here:

http://www.kf-models...o_E656_XMPR.JPG

The colors chosen by the italian train company are quite lego "unfriendly" :sceptic: so this moc it will be for longtime just digital one, unless I manage to find some way to color the bricks (can you point me how, if you know?).

I wanted to keep the 6 studs width and a length of a classical lego locomotive, so the proportions are, of course, quite different than the original model. The most difficult part was the front shape, where I wanted to fit anyway some lights, without losing the charecteristic slope. In reality this loco as 6 axes and articulate around the center. This doesn't seem very difficult to do, although the problem will be to motorize it afterwards.

the only things I am really not happy with are the circular windows on the sides. Suggestions for that?

hope you like!

You definitely chose a tricky one to re-create! I think the model would definitely benefit from lengthening it to try to make it somewhat closer to scale. I know you're trying to keep it to "Lego" scale, but the effect would be worth it.

You are right! But then it will be out of proportion with the horizon express I already have in my layout and only this loco will be half of my metroliner length! Then I wouldn't know how to do a 9v six axis motor which can negotiate the standard lego curves. Suggestions are more then welcome!

you could use a sticker for those port holes (I know one who would have no problems at all providing some for you in sand green if you promise to build it in real bricks and show the result for all our train fans ;))

Thanks! Right, Stickers are a good idea :classic:

I have really few sand green bricks actually. I got it with the helm's deep set! Anyway, this christmas I will be busy in building another Italian train: the"frecciarossa" high speed train:

I have already done the model in LDD and ordered the pieces on bricklink for two locos and two carriages. Anyway I am kind of a newbie and I am here to learn from you guys!

It is hard to judge the size in LDD and similar I find, but how about using technic bricks for the round windows? They maybe a bit small and will not have glass, but could work OK. I agree with the others though it could do with being a tad longer. Working out the wheels set up is part of the fun! You should build it and play about with that until it is right. Then show us pictures please.
