It figures, the one cleric we have gets attacked. default_hmpf.gif

Oh well, after this next round of bombardments, he should die. Shall we all use holy bombs?

Or perhaps, Maurice are you now healed enough that you and Ad-hoh could take him out by yourselves?

"I'm sorry but I still can't attack the undead pirate, neither with my mace or with the power of the Light. But I will help by throwing a Lightning Bomb from the back row this time."

"Argh, cursed! I'd hoped the Zombie would've been truly dead by now. Let's hit it again, it's bound to go down." Eric shouted, still blinded and poison still running through his veins.

He started to feel abandonned, despite being surrounded by companions. The strong link he had with the Norse gods was fading, the faith he placed in them faltering. Once, he had been favored above all others by them. Blessed with great strength and dexterity by Torrik, gifted with martial skill and prowess second only to the great god Wartan himself. Even the Ice Queen Helvetia looked favorably upon him and pledged her aid in his task.

Now, however, Eric didn't feel particularly ace. He felt as if the embrace of the gods was lessening the longer it took him to complete his mission. The requisite for being able to return home. Years he had wandered, but he hadn't been able to redeem himself. Not yet. Never had he lost his Norse pride and faith in the old ways, but now the great warrior started to doubt even the gods themselves. Had they lost their faith in him?

Eric dug in his pack and whipped out a potion. Slowly he put the vial to his lips and drank its contents.

Eric takes a potion.

Battle Order:

Ad-Hoh darkness attack

Maurice lightning bomb

Erdathcath holy bomb (??)

Christopher fire bomb (??)

Hybros (??)

Eric potion

"Since there's nothing I can do, I'll just sit this one out."

Hybros took this chance to close his eyes and poner the true purpose of Heroica and himself. He hoped that the battle would be over by the time he opened them.

Eric was relieved that the Zombie's curse was wearing off. As he opened his eyes, he saw Ad-Hoh recoiling from his powerful attack. Eric was glad Ad-Hoh was with them. Even though Eric was sceptical of mages, he had to admit Ad-Hoh could do more than just brewing potions and reading arcane books. The mage could certainly stand in battle.

Eric went through the pile of dead bodies and dug up the loot. Among it was a Brass Key which he pocketed.

Division of loot:

Ad-Hoh - Banana

Christopher

Erdatcath - Rum

Eric - Brass Key

Hybros - Lightning Bomb

Maurice - Potion

After dividing the spoils, Eric spoke: "Let's see if this key can open up the prison back there."

The party makes its way down the corridor, past the pier and to the jail cell with the treasure in it. They try the brass key on the jail door, but it does not fit. Then they remember that the door next to it has a brass lock in it, and lo and behold, it opens!

heroicaquest15-map14.jpg

Beyond the door, they find a small room with a stone staircase winding up. Will the party return upstairs using these stairs?

The party climbs upstairs, and arrive to a long corridor with a hall in the middle.

heroicaquest15-map15.jpg

The stairs continue up to another level, and there's another set of stairs across the hall that goes both down and up as well. In the hall there's a group of pirates handling two cannons. Next to the stairs is a door that can be opened from the side that the heroes are. The corridor ends to an open door.

"I think we should open the door right in front of us."

Hybros wonders if the party can pass through doors from both sides once they have opened them...

OoC: Yes you can, as long as you don't lock them behind you.

Hybros opens the nearest door, and is immediately met with a loud ruckus of blaring cannons and shouting men. The door leads to a terrace filled with gun-smoke. There's a huge cannon with a crew of pirates working on it, aiming it towards the Bonaparte fleet that floats in the sea below. If the party steps onto the terrace, the pirates will see them.

Maurice also takes the opportunity to drink one of his bottles of Nostrum, some extra luck in the next battle could be good for him.

Agreed, finding Jolly Roger is the most important thing right now, and once we find him, we can probably make him reveal where the prison is.

The party continues through the open door on the opposite side of the corridor from the terrace.

They come to a small room with a hallway extending onwards. There's nothing in the room but an eccentric table with knobs, panels and buttons on it. There's also two other doors further down the hallway.

I agree, we should see what it is, and what it does, and then trash it! Or perhaps, it is used to control something, so that we may be able to use it against the pirates!
