The determined group of heroes marched onto the pier, and faced the three pirates standing around the cannon at the end. The pirates were surprised to see intruders behind their backs, but they quickly recovered and attacked.

"My thoughts exactly, Hybros. No point in attacking the cannon straight away. I'll assist you in taking out the cannoneer" Eric said. Confidently he took out his weapons and charged at the pirates.

Hybros and Eric charged at the cannoneer together. Hybros looked over and was reminded that Eric was truly a good friend, since their first quest in Shadeuax warehouse. He felt encouraged by this, and was confident that they would make quick work of these enemies.

OOC: Khorne, make sure you mention Hybros twice in the battle order, since he is hastened for this battle. Also, I think you control Maurice until Etzel comes back.

The battle at the pier commences. The house-elven Pirate Cannoneer is immediately targetted by many attacks. Eric is damaged by the Cannoneer, and loses 10 health. The quickened Hybros hits the Cannoneer for 42 damage on his first strike, but misses with his second strike. The Pirate Seamage casts a Tsunami on the party of heroes, causing 6 damage to Eric, Hybros, Christopher and Maurice, and 3 damage to Erdathcath. Only Ad-Hoh is protected by from the attack because of his robe. Christopher gains a good hit on the Pirate Ruffian, dealing 19 damage to it. Erdathcath also unleashes a powerful shot at the Tritech Cannon, reducing 16 health from the strange machine. Maurice's attack misses.

Blood poured out of Eric's wounds, though he waited to use his potion. Stubborn as he was, he renewed his attack on the Cannoneer, this time using Grom, the Twin Axe.

As the battle on the pier continues, Hybros gains a hit against the cannoneer, causing 42 damage. Then the hastened rogue returns to mug the cannoneer, but since the doomed pirate only has 15 health left, the rogue gains only 15 gold. The cannoneer's body falls lifeless into the water in any case. Eric hoists his newly gained axe against the cannon, but somehow the cannon nudges him off balance and he misses. The revolving cannon also bumps into Maurice without causing damage, but the cleric takes the turn to recover anyway. The seamage attacks Ad-Hoh with his wand, causing 3 damage. The Tritech Cannon then initiates an Ether Shield that protects it for the remainder of the round. Christopher then attacks the Pirate Ruffian, scoring a hit that causes 19 damage.

As the battle goes on, the Pirate Seamage unleashes another Tsunami upon the party, causing 6 damage to Hybros, Eric, Christopher and Maurice, and 3 damage to Erdathcath. Hybros avenges this by mugging the remaining health out of the seamage, while gaining 52 gold for himself. Eric's extra critical hit with his new axe kills the pirate ruffian and causes 58 damage to the cannon. Cristopher's attack against the cannon misses, but Ad-Hoh's great spell of darkness hits it for 22 damage. Erdathcath ends the battle by sending three arrows to destroy the cannon.

Party Leader, how will the spoils of the battle be divided?

Tonic – Restores 5 ether to the target.

Rum - The favorite drink of any common pirate, giving it to them makes them your friend. Does not work on pirate leaders, though.

Fire Bomb – Causes 5 points of fire-elemental damage to all enemies, doubled if the target is weak to fire.

With the pirates out of the way, the party can now see that there is another pier on the opposite side of the water-filled cave.

There is another group of pirates standing on the other pier, and there is also a second cannon similar to the ones that the heroes broke. As the heroes watch, the pirates turn the cannon against them and prepare to shoot.

The heroes could engage in a cannon duel with the pirates on the opposite pier, but the Tritech Cannon is badly damaged by the battle. Maybe a jolt of magic could fix it, since it works on ether, though...?

Alternatively, the heroes can just run away from the pier to escape the cannonballs.

Having defeated two enemies by himself, Hybros was feeling pretty good about himself. Perhaps these man-made products weren't so bad after all. He'd have to pick up some more when he had the chance, anyway.

"Hehe... well done everyone. I think some of us could use a heal before we move on. As for the cannon battle... I'm prepared for anything."

Eric cleaned the grime of his weapons and sheathed them. He handed out the loot and looked towards the other pier. Noticing the other pirates he quickly ran towards the tritech cannon. His grin widened at the thought of some brutal cannon warfare.

"Cleric, could you heal the party and the cannon? You can drink this tonic we looted to regain lost ether."
