[HELP] Is a 3-section beam even possible with this setup?

The problem starts from the first boom extension and ends in the second boom extension.

See? Gap and gap. The second boom extension, composed of Technic studded beams and smoothing tiles, will go wiggling about inside the frame I used for the first extension. How can I make a flush yet smooth first extension to fit the beam, while at the same time still be able to fit smoothly and flush to the main boom? I can use advice from expert crane makers. HINT: the completed crane is 8-wide.

You could try using Technic half pins in the studded beam to hold tiles on the side. Both sides like this would probably make it too wide to fit, and one side only leaves it off-centre and probably still wobbly. Good luck!

I think if you turn the brick and tile on its side it will work better for you.

A single technic beam (with or without the side tile reinforcement) isn't even remotely strong enough for any reasonable length third boom. It will be good for display only.
