The Count's Party

Recommended Posts

The Count and Countess had their annual Halloween party. This year to celebrate their newly remodeled and greatly expanded castle they decided to have an even bigger party. Last years party was trouble... The villagers got extremely upset and stormed the castle. This year they moved the castle further away from the village and put it on a hill top in hopes that the noise of their party would not irritate the villagers. They invited many, many more of their friends than last year. But they did not realize the by butting the castle on a hill top that the sounds of their loud and boisterous party would carry into the village and once again irritate the villagers.

Here we see the party at the castle and the villagers storming the castle.

Some of the villagers sing as the rest of the villagers mass for the storming.

But when they get to the steps they just crowd together making it difficult to get to the castle.

This is my first attempt at rock work, the rocks are OK, but I really like how the tree came out. The tree was inspired by Flea and his Cliff Fortress http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=88347

I learned a lot doing this project, first off, for me a project this size really should be modular so I can move it around easier. Second I need more practice on rock work and other build techniques. Finally I need to get started earlier as it is not just get in there in build... It is build, don’t like it tear it down, rebuild, repeat.

I hope you enjoy it, C&C welcome.

What a massive castle... Which means a massive party! The next morning must have been bad for the poor party members...

I like the brick build rock fasade around the castle,

Yeah, lots of mini figs with hangovers from the brew they were drinking.

BTW: the castle was made from much of four (4) 9468 Vampire Castle sets.

Thanks for the comment about the rock work, means a lot from someone with your experience. I just to need to find a way to make it look more realistic. What I was going for was a monochrome look and a look that water had been running down for many, many years and the cliff eroded at different levels because of different density of the rock material.

I need to find more examples of rock work so I can adapt it to achieve my desired results.

Thanks again,

My experience is for now more or limited to Technic and a bit of model team, thanks for the praise anyway

The Count hasn't learnt that the best way to stop your neighbours complaining about the noise when having a party is to invite them to the party.

Nice detail, the tree is especially well done.

I see you have separate entrances for the ghosts and the skeletons. Is this some form of undead discrimination  .

No undead discrimination. The count just likes wrought iron gates and since he is so welcoming he opens all his gates on party nights. But the ghosts and skeletons like to hang out with their own and they travel in groups.

He just forgot their invite again! But then again, the villagers don't really like parties with the dead and undead... But the do love storming castles ;)

Thanks for your comments.

The assortment of different minfigs makes for an amusing scene. I like how in one picture a minifig is carrying a steak, I think he misunderstood when someone told him to "bring a stake".

Thanks for noticing. The main reason for all the different mini figs is to show that my mini fig village is made up of all kinds of people err... Mini figs. And steak vs steak commonly misunderstood. One used for dispatching vampires, the other a tasty meal.

Thanks. It is much bigger this year, not sure exactly what I will do next year, but the castle will still be a big part of it. Monster Fighters pieces and minifigs just cry out to be used for Halloween.

Great stuff.

Finally I see someone putting all the nice monster fighters pieces together - the Count's castle is much better than the official attempts.

I cannot say much about the rockwork as your approach is very similar to mine.

Some folks in the pirate forum have done fantastic work here.

Brick on!
