Is it me or does it look like the smaller building on the right hand side is open at the back? In that photo of it with the car you can see the wall and the table through the front door

I had the same thought. All the other rooms are dark, because they are closed with side/backwalls but the ground floor of the right building is see-through. You can even see the edge of the table through the front door.

I agree. The lighting makes it look open.

The view that we're seeing today makes me realize how small the furniture store must be. The first view shows studs in the back. And there's a lot of sidewalk space out front. So it must not be a very deep building.

So of the two stores we suspected, the one you'd guess that needs a lot of space, the furniture store, is tiny. The one where you can put things on the wall, music, is bigger? Strange.

I guess I learned what's up with those kids.

The GWP for the launch of the new modular has been posted on Lego's website: https://www.lego.com/en-us/product/vintage-parade-car-40913

I'm guessing it's supposed to be paired with the band's kids of SS. You can see some more brick built instruments on the new image of SS on that page too. Also, the banner has the same logo as TH's, for a nice reference.

I don’t remember if the banner logo from tH is printed but I wish that GWP doesn’t include stickers. But it is GWP so….  But Parade Car is a very cute idea for modular street!

I'm not 100% for stickers, but I don't mind them if it's only on GWP. Plus, the art for the stickers in the modulars' GWP is pretty good.

I can see why some people on Reddit would compare that new modular to a Creator one. Color-wise, it reminds me a bit of 31141 Main Street. Especially the combination of white, dark blue and gold. But that's where the comparison ends imho.

Tbh, I'm a bit biased regarding modulars. There's none I dislike in the main series, certainly not enough to not buy one. I'm a bit puzzled about the color palette of SS, but still love the shape of it. It will look great with other tall modulars like the GE, TH, GG, etc...

@PatrickLisse I replaced the 1x8 sand green bricks in my GG by 1x6 bricks, and using a few other sizes to fill in the gaps. I had to redraw the whole model on Studio.io to plan the steps. It was a long task, but so worth it once I finally assembled it. I also replaced the 1x2 bricks with a groove by off-brand ones, for now. The color came close enough.

I also am a bit perplexed by the colour scheme but it won’t stop me from purchasing.

If that GWP is an Icon set, how come it’s not a purchable set off shelf?  I do wish that gWP would be put into a modular building set. Last time we had a vehicle in a modualr building was 2018 when there was a pink car in Downtown Diner.

EDIT: I just remember that Garage Corner is the actually last modualr building set with a vehicle in 2019.

These two buildings take up an extremely small space on the baseplate. So much space out back and in front.

Taking credit for calling it: the furniture store might (and ended up being) a furniture workshop/store).:pir-classic:

yeah agreed. I was surprised the piece count is as high as it is. But I suppose the perimeter of the building is longer than a regular building due to the quirky shape

The 360 degree video clears this up. There are big windows at the rear of the room, backing onto the alleyway.

There goes my hope that it was a AI picture.

don't know yet if i will get it on day 1, and 249 Euro....... such a miss from Lego, it's like the new UCS deathstar! That is a deathpizza slice.

I’m surprised to see the price tag on the new modualr building it’s not $230 anymore.

Me too, I'm surprised it's not just the price in US dollars that got increased... Although, that set has more parts than any of the last 32x32 modulars.

I'm also a bit disappointed that the back has so few details. I would have hoped the narrow alley would lead to more than a bare backyard.

Thinking from a designer's perspective, based on the most recent modular sets: the Natural History Museum is pretty big and "blocky" with lots of right angles, so a floor plan with different angles makes sense. Similarly, the Tudor Corner is, well, a corner building. So I can see why they'd want to do things differently and make their next set fit differently into a larger display.

With all that said, I'm a collector, not a designer! So while I admire the architectural details and I can make educated guesses about the decisions that went into it, I can't see myself being tempted enough to pick this one up. It's very much in the category of "kinda neat, but not for me."

I also wonder whether so much of the parts count went into the detailing, there were fewer pieces left over for the bricks and plates that make up the structural stuff. Maybe that's why it looks relatively small and insubstantial? I'm also curious about the rationale behind the choice of interiors. There's a broad spectrum between "boring and predictable" and "too weird" so I expect that it's a tricky balance to get right. Even so, a...furniture workshop? OK, so again: the Tudor Corner has a clockmaker, which is rather niche as well. A musical instrument store makes less sense to me though, because there's so much overlap with a similarly-themed shop in Assembly Square.

I don't dislike it as such. I just find many of the creative decisions to be...odd.

I wish Lego would make proper moulded instruments- the brick built stuff is fine for Creator sets but they don’t work next to actual moulded instruments. Feels like cutting corners on quality to suck a bit more cash from fans to me.

Hmmm… I apreciate the novelty in design approach, especially with those angles… BUT. To me it is messy and it looks more like a large 3 in 1 Creator Houses set rather than Creator Expert Modular…

The back of the building has what appears as 1x8 sand green bricks. If that is true, and that the 1x2 sand green brick with a groove is also used on the building, then that means GG will definitely be more affordable to part out.

I agree, I don’t hate the actual structure but the colours remind me of other Modular’s such as the boutique hotel (with the green already similar to the natural history museum), while the music store feels like a poor copy of the one in assembly square, it offers very little new to me.

The furniture store as a carpenter’s shop seems ok, but the music store to me should either have been a record store or (as the theme for the GwP is a parade) a costume shop, which would be great for all the different costumes we get in the Collectible Minifigures line too.

A change of colours along with the above would do wonders to it, though I would also love to finally see the Printing Store they canned due to the Daily Bugle building the other year too.
