I think it’s likely to be a 48 stud wide one, and hopefully it’ll reference some of the last 10 years worth of modulars. I don’t know if it’ll be much taller than the usual heights, but I expect it to be a fair bit more expensive, possibly as much as £300/€350, maybe more given that the regular sized modular was £229 this year. I would love to see something like an enclosed shopping arcade, rather like the Victorians built in some cities in the UK. You could add a number of smaller businesses and the like, over two floors, with perhaps a couple of penthouse apartments on the top. I think thats quite unlikely however, as is a skyscraper imo. Whatever it is, some will love it, others wont, but I’ll still be adding it to my city, even if it means removing some of my MOCs. I agree with you taht a taller modualr buidling woudl be expesnive. But it seems that Lego keeps increasing price over years since Boutique Hotel then now the new price ag on Shopping Street. It depends on individuals’ budget - I don’t buy anything from Rebudiable, Ideas and even BDP. And I like your idea! It would be lovely. I wonder if 20th anniveary set would have Easter eggs that refer to previous 19 modular buildings. Like they did with AS and BH. 40 minutes ago, Pauolo said: Ngl, the 20th anniversary modular being the tallest one to date wouldn't make for an exciting selling point. Especially after the Lego superhero designers made the Daily Bugle and Avengers Tower stand out among all modulars. But then, I can't imagine what the designers could explore next that wouldn't feel like a repetition of previous techniques and ideas. I'd love to see this as well, or some kind of covered market. But it would be hard to make it into an appealing display set if the enclosed street is the main focus. Or maybe, have it open in the middle to be displayed in a different way and still show the shops inside. I’m not sure if I would agree with that a taller modular buidling / 4-floor skyscraper. You might be right about repition, although i’m opimisitic they would find some ways to make it more fun. We have several taller buidlings like Lord of the Rings, Marvel, Star Wars, and other themes. They look pretty cool and I think Lego would figure out how to do that differently. Maybe high-rise apartment or office skysraper (ground floor = lobby, 1st floor = office cubes, 2nd floor = meeting room and break room, 3rd floor = CEO’s office). I can’t rmemeber if there is a working elevator in modualr buidling series? Quote
RichardGoring Posted April 9 Posted April 9 I like the idea of a shopping arcade and think the Victorian ones in the UK are terrific. I rather like two models on Rebrickable which remind me of them. Botanical Garden by Berthil is wonderful and I really enjoyed building it - LEGO MOC-26998 Botanical Garden by Berthil | Rebrickable - Build with LEGO Also, the reimagined Market Street by SleeplessNight looks great and really leans into the idea of an arcade - LEGO MOC-206123 Art Nouveau Market Street by SleeplessNight | Rebrickable - Build with LEGO Both look great from the front and could be very impressive if set on a 48-wide base. RichardGoring Posted April 21 Posted April 21 I've just finished building the Sherlock Holmes book nook and it was really enjoyable. All the details I like from a modular, but no repetition at all. A slight lack of smiles from nice part usage, but still fun angles and a mix of techniques. It also works nicely as an alley in a modular street. Very much recommended. Quote
squiz18 Posted April 21 Posted April 21 Has anyone seen a UK discount on the Natural History Museum before? I can't recall one. I know it retires this year so just planning the best time to pick it up Quote

Doesn’t help that it’s a retailer exclusive for Smyths who rarely do good offers. Unlike Argos or John Lewis, who you could anticipate getting up to 20%+ off at some point, the most Smyths ever do is a £10 if you spend £100 sort of thing. I could imagine that NHM hasn’t sold spectacularly, so it may be that there are discounts at the end of its run, but I have no evidence for this and I think it’s a long time since Lego offered much of a discount on a retiring modular. I suspect I’ll end up caving at some point in the Summer/Autumn if there’s a double/triple VIP points window. Quote

Smyths used to do good discounts on big Lego sets but they seem to have dried up. I remember getting Ninjago city for 25% off! I got 25% off Tudor Corner from Argos too recently. I wonder why the NHM is exclusive to Smyths? I'll probably do the same as you, just wait for double VIP points and a decent GWP. I'm half tempted to wait and see if it's in the Black Friday discounts as the sets nearing their end of life often are. But then that runs the risk of missing it all together.... Lion King Posted April 21 Posted April 21 I wonder if we would see another museum buidling, such as art museum? A small art gallery doesn’t serve justice. Quote
hikouki Posted April 22 Posted April 22 I would like them to make sets based on actual locations... the new city set "beach tram" reminds me of Lisbon. Quote

Er, I assume you are tlaking about IP-realted landmarks? I am not sure what you are trying to say something about “actual locations” as Modualr Building Collection designers are inspired by archiecures around the world Easter than based on the “actual” locations. So more like the Ideas set Italian Riviera? It doesn't bother with the constraints of the modulars' design guidelines for a more authentic look. Still, main modulars are always a mix of inspirations of real-world buildings and architecture. And even architecture isn't restricted to specific locations. Quote

I’m not quite sure what @hikouki said in his unreal post so… Regarldess, i’m with you on the last part. EDIT: I saw his post on other thread and I think I understand what he tried to say - he said he hoped there wouldn’t Portugese-style architecture for Modular Building Collection as that beach tram does transmit Lisbon (even tho it does remind me of San Francisco). The Italian Riviera is distinctive enough to allude to let's say Cinque Terre, but of course Lego did not specify. There have been several MOCs out there of a Lisbon tram and it would really be great if Lego makes another European city, but I would not mind San Francisco if they opt for that. Quote

Pauolo Posted Monday at 12:49 PM Posted Monday at 12:49 PM (edited) On the topic of real-world locations being translated in detailled sets, Ideas is going to have a Amsterdam-based set, representing the famous canal houses: https://beta.ideas.lego.com/product-ideas/eded93d1-fb3f-44d0-bd7b-068734fadf91 If it stays on scale with the Italian Riviera and with the same attention to details, I'll have to find space for it on my shelves... And it'll be an opportunity to mod Market Street to make it fit with it. That said, if LEGO is pushing for these kind of Ideas sets, I'm sure a Lisbon vista is going to make it eventually. But it’s so nice to have Italian Rivera and that Amsterdam set. Quote
