Where can we see that please ?

Someone posted a pic on Reddit, but TLG usually provide pdf versions of the catalogues at some point ^^ It’s the usual CMF preview with a blacked-out minifig, saying “Classic Series 29 coming in June”.

Posted

Does this necessarily mean Classic as in 'Classic" themes?

I read it as just meaning "not a themed series" - not F1, or Animals, or Spidermen - just a classic 16 random figs.

Wait June? Not May?

Also, there is a thread for Seires 29 created by @Robert8, let’s discuss there!

Space Series 26

Animal Seires 28

Classic Sereis 29

So yeah< I would assume some min figures form classic themes!

A leaker might use that wording to refer to a traditional non-themed series, but surely not TLG in a catalogue. They would simply call it Series 29. Using the word “classic” has implications, especially since we already know about 2 of the minifigs. And it’s gonna be 12, as usual

This is my thinking. Why add "Classic" and not just refer to it as S29?

In a new catalogue, they call S29 „classic“. Looks like we can expect more throwback minifigs then! :excited:

Could look like it :sceptic:

I agree this is a possibility, would be interesting to know what a normal series is called in a previous catalogue in that country  :shrug_oh_well:

You are probably right, but different countries even English speaking ones do not use the same words for everything..

If it is a "classic" one I hope the figs are more like beastmaster and less like the policeman in series 18. Even if I prefer a normal series for a change a "classic" one would not be the worst option. If so I hope for a native american, Castle and Pirate figs and of course some animals in the series:wink:

Yeah, don't think they'd use that vocabulary, never seen it before. Could be wrong but this seems like a point to a nostalgia series.

I actually think it is just an error. If you open the catalogue the number of the page is always on the right side of the right page, aswell as the names of the themes that are shown on both pages - and in this case the left page shows Classic, the right one shows the minifigures, so I do belive someone just made a mistake and wrote classic series instead of minifigure series.

Edit: In the german version of the catalogue it is actually named Minifigure Series 29 so that would fit to what I said above, but I realised that the english version actually has the pages in a different order and classic isn´t on the left page there. Still could be the reason though, since who knows when they actually edit those pages. Anyways, leaks stated the two already revealed would be the only throwback figures, so right now I tend to belive that, instead of putting to much hope based on the word classic in the catalogue ;).

That'd make sense too, if it is that it's a very coincidental series to have this error

Rumour has it that the next series is based on a 2026 film that constitutes a new license. The leaker calls it S30, but that doesn‘t make any sense

If it‘s a film getting released after the series does, it’s either Street Fighter, Jumanji 4, or Narnia. Any other ideas?

I think I could see Street Fighter? Maybe, is that getting a big push? LEGO is doing a lot of gaming licences lately

Dr Seuss in general maybe, but just Cat in the Hat? Does that story even have 12 characters? :laugh_hard: There’s the cat himself, the goldfish (which would be an accessory anyway), the two kids, Thing 1 and Thing 2, and who else? I know the movie‘s supposed to be the start of a shared universe, but it still seems like a bit of a stretch.

Street Fighter would have the opposite problem! But if so, David Dastmalchian could get two minifigs this year

I took a quick peak at the trailer, and there's a lot of background characters or extra "Things 3-12" that could be used to fill some slots. Or, it could just be a general Seuss series to broadly tie-in with the movie, like what happened with Looney Tunes and Space Jam 2.

For now, I'll either guess Seuss or Shrek  - there's a chance the leakers didn't realize the movie was bumped back and got that bit wrong (it's happened before).

No way it‘s Shrek. The movie was delayed months ago, giving licensees plenty of time to adjust. Besides, the implication here is that the CMF is all we‘re getting based on whatever movie it is, and if TLG actually pursued a Shrek license, they‘d definitely release playsets first and foremost.

I think it‘s a movie where a CMF series is its best possible representation, i.e. something more character- than vehicle- or location-driven. Like Street Fighter. Yes, I jumped on that train :laugh_hard:

I was also thinking Sherk

Sometimes the tie-in merch can't be moved when a movie moves

Like it happened with the Elio Happy Meal toys: they came out months before the movie did, because Disney pushed the release date back, but McDonald's couldnt do the same

------------

I was also thinking Hexed, but that hardly counts as a new license

Update from Bricktap on the September CMF:

"I wouldn’t rule out a 2027 movie for the series after 29"

Makes me think Shrek is back on the table.

The day an official Shrek minifigure gets revealed is the day that Zoomers everywhere would prepare to raid every lego store to find him

My biggest wish if they are going the Shrek route is that the series is "Shrek" and not "Shrek 5". I'd much rather have Farquad and Fairy Godmother over Shrek's kids.

I also wonder what they would do with Donkey - does he get his own slot, or is he an accessory?

Unikitty was on her own in TLM2 series, so I think Donkey would be as well

Unikitty was at least a buildable figure with several parts - I think Donkey would either be a single mold or a body + head, like Scooby-Doo. In that context, I'm less sure which route Lego would go with.
