But seriously, I don't think it's all that likely even if it is a bionicle series (which I also wouldn't find all that likely unfortunately). The main G2 cast are the main G1 cast, and given that there's only 12 slots I doubt we'd get multiple versions of the characters. Assumably lego would go with the more iconic G1 Mata designs.

It is the 25th anniversary of bionicle next year. I think it's unlikely it will be a bionicle specific series (though part of that is me trying not to get my hopes up) but there is indeed a special exciting bonkle birthday reason.

Yeah, normal is the right term. I really do wonder what was going on in the heads of the Lego CMF team when they were thinking that a non-mini fig-containing series could be marketed as a "minifig" series??? I say the F1 "CMF" is Unikitty 2.0.

That was probably not from the Lego CMF team it's probably from the team that did F1

I mean, it is Bionicle's 25th anniversary this summer (which come to think of it, the fig might be a way of commemorating) but I doubt the whole series will be that.

That said, if the fig design is good, it'd be nice if they followed it up with other Bionicle characters in the future (probably through assorted themes instead of overwhelming CMFs with them). After years of homages to '80s sets (which I've appreciated, don't get me wrong), it feels cool for more of the themes from my childhood to get a spotlight.

Because whenever there’s the slightest whiff of an older theme getting referenced in a CMF fans of said theme get a little rabid. I’m sure if someone had leaked rumors of the Johnny Thunder and Basil the Bat Lord figs before any of the other characters in their respective series there would have been loads of people on here losing their minds over imagined Adventure and Monster themed series.

I’d definitely lose my mind for an Adventurers CMF theme (even if it was new characters evoking the era, though not the current modern City mish mash). I have no interest in Bionicle at all though and would be annoyed if this replaced a non licensed CMF slot. Just goes to show the regular series work best. Including something for everyone seems logical.

Lloyd is also rumoured to be included! Both Bonkle and Ninjago have their anniversaries next year, so Tahu and Lloyd  could simply be included to celebrate them, but this could also be seen as a sign that the entire series is based on classic themes

At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if they brought the Power Miners rock monsters back for the occasion

Do we know which outfit for Lloyd? I feel like a show accurate golden ninja remake would make the most sense for a CMF. Or does the rumour specifically say he’s green? In that case I’d hope for a show accurate Rebooted remake.

Here’s some candidates for what we could see for the other 10 slots: Clay Morrington or Macy Halbert, Chase McCain, Clutch Powers (biblically accurate), Laval, Ogel, Solomon Blaze, Bobby Buoy, Emett Brickowski, Wild-style, Vetruvius, Unikitty, the evil wizard from castle, Redbeard or Governor Broadside…

A very unlikely but not entirely impossible option that I would like to see is Jek 14. He is a Lego OC afterall so maybe the Hasbro stuff wouldn’t apply to him.

It’s hard for me to think how realistic that the Series 29 would be based on classic themes as we will have 50th anniveary for minifigures in 2028. Tahu and Lloyd showing up in CMF Series to represent their own anniversaries sound cool to me! I don’t mind City minifigures mixing up with other miniatures, such as Space, Castle, Pirates. But not from classic themes for example, Johnny Thunder, Dash, and Basil the Batlord.  I welcome the idea of Tahu showing up in CMF series. Now I said this so I let Haters rage on…

Power Miner's time will come, by 2034 every lego set will contain a new Rock Monster recolour, by 2049 every colour bar Lime Green and Orange is retired, by 2060 the CEO of the LEGO Group is a Rock Monster

Are those suits rare now? They came in a few cheap sets plus had quite common remakes already, is there something I'm missing about this?

Legally TLM characters WB properties, don't think they can be used without fees . It likely won't be a classic theme revival theme this time but one will come sooner or later absolutely, there's a lot of options but I feel like they wouldn't be as 2010s heavy as your lineup, but I could be wrong there, it was said the reason for Ninjago Legacy was the TV show being discovered by kids constantly and them wanting the earlier sets, annectdotally some LEGO employees do mention kids asking for Nexo Knights or whatever because they saw it on Netflix or ITV or whatever so maybe the Ninjago format themes from the 2010s would all be there. LEGO usually is on a delay with nostalgia though, they've not even really got to the 2000s bar Bionicle yet

Oh interesting, Tahu would feel like a normal theme because there are so many generic specially molded robot figures a Minifig Tahu could fit right in under a generic name, Lloyd isn't that though, it's a design that's kinda too tied to something kids know but far enough away from the basic image of a Ninja it'd not feel naturally like an archetype

Yep! Bricktap has made a post on the legoleaks Reddit that confirms the only two ‘legacy’ figs are the ones we already know about, and the rest of series 29 will be a normal CMF.

Yup, i had a feeling it was going to be a regular CMF series rather than “anniveary” type.  50th anniveary of minifigures is a big deal in 2028.

It's a shame, when Space has a themed CMF the generic one before and after have no Space figures but given the wave before still having the mandatory 3 costumes I imagine series 29 will have 3 costumes too

Keep in mind – Series 26 (Space) came out directly after series 25 and only one licensed series (D&D) came out between it and 27. However, after 27 there were two licensed series, meaning there’s a full year gap between it and 28 (animal costumes). But with series 29 coming directly after 28, Lego is a lot more likely to follow the same pattern as the Space series and not include regular animal costumes (extinct and fantasy animals might be an exception though, having been inexplicably excluded from series 28).

That is a good point I didn't think of but whether or not there are animals I think three costumes is still a lock

If I remember correctly , Series 25 only lacks Space minifigure but we got next series full of Space minifigures (Series 26).  Yet Series 27 does have one or two animal costumes before Seires 28 (Animal Costuems). I could see why they needed budget toward Series 28 and made F1 series out of pieces, rather than minifigure parts. Pattern is not exactly fixed tho.

Maybe two instead of three, but yes. Given that series 27 still filled the Sci-Fi niche with the jetpack racer and steampunk inventor, I think it’s fair to say that all costumes other than modern day animals are still on the table. 
 

Who knows, maybe the Bionicle fig is actually a costumed fan…

We’ve had several in that vein, which is sort of the problem. We’ve had a car, boat, train, plane, and even a horse in costume style. Theoretically the flying saucer from the Space series could count too. At this point there’s only so many modes of transportation left. I guess they could do a submarine, bus, horse drawn carriage, or fire truck?

F1?  As if we had not had enough? 

They've devoted an entire series to Fauna, so maybe they will give Flora some love? If they're going to give use more animals, I could only think they would dare with some prehistoric animals or mythological ones like the Phoenix.
