Lion King Posted March 25 Posted March 25 Well just one rumor form BrickFanatics, huh? I won’t take it seriously. Bu if there is a rumor form other reliable sources, then….YES!!!! Spider-verse sereis, make a room for regular sereis lol. But, realistically, I agree that it would be fast track for Lego to replace licensed one with regular one. Even tho I didn’t rmember what handed last time….. Quote

Surely with the Ninjago Movie it did, that was delayed to 2017 pretty late, they needed to pull a Summer 2016 Ninjago Wave and winter 2017 one out of their backsides quickly with reused elements from earlier waves and movie concept art. Would also explain why there are like 3 figures in that CMF who aren't in the final movie. I missed out on several of the earlier, cool ones. The one potentially issue with that is that a lot of AFOLs would probably have at least two or three army-builders are a part of the "greatest hits" lineup - which could cause issues similar to the Wolfpack ones we're seeing now. Still, I hope that wouldn't exclude Lego from considering it at some point... Quote

Same with that idea from a year or two from here where they do a CMF set based off minifigures from popular past themes like Ninjago, City, Castle, Elves, etc. Maybe they could throw in some weird, random wildcard stuff like something from Lego Movie or Star Wars or other licensed themes. Just a big celebration of what minifigures are and represent. Quote

An issue with it is that they might not have the moulds used for some of the accessories and headgear any more where they were exclusive to the CMF. The early series had numerous parts that were made in a (non-LEGO) factory in China and I don't think they use that factory any more since they have had their own ones built since then. Parts that were produced there might either need to be redeveloped or they skip those characters. For example the Roman soldier helmet, the gladiator helmet, the graduate's mortarboard, the Spartan helmet, etc have not been seen for over a decade. Quote

Yeah, if they do it I doubt many characters with discontinued parts would return. 1 hour ago, sylin said: Something like that would be epic, and I'm sure would sell. With a situation like that it'd be best left to themes not currently ongoing Quote

They don't need to appeal to everyone, they need to appeal to enough people that are going to buy enough of them. They are perfect army builders and that type of figure appeals to people that would buy lots of them. Not only that but every figure would be of interest to the same person, so there is no worry about what they get. So fans of the figures would buy complete boxes in the knowledge that every single figure is useful. Quote

Robert8 Posted April 6 Posted April 6 CMF 71051 is coming next January 1st according to Brickmerge So, that means 71050 will come out this fall? Whether is Spiderverse or Series 28 is another thing, but it seems there will be a series after all Quote
sylin Posted April 6 Posted April 6 I'm glad. It'd be so disappointing if they just didn't do any CMFs for later this year. Quote

If 71050 is assigned to the Spiderverse CMF, then they wouldn´t change the number even if it is postponed. The only thing we really can say with this information is that the Series supposed to come in January isn´t coming in September now, because they got swiched with Spiderverse. But overall, I didn´t belive that speculation that the Spiderverse CMF was postponed in the first place and would guess we will still see it in September. So far no reliable source stated otherwise, and if there would be a change, I think we would have hear it at this point. Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted April 6 Posted April 6 What exactly is this Spiderverse delay speculation even based on? The third movie comes out in 2027, so that clearly won’t affect anything Moreover, the Spot set came out in January without a hitch, so why should the CMF series be any different? Quote

It was originally said to be released this year, and Brick Fanatics speculated whether it would be delayed because of the movie - which as far as I can see was clear to not make it this year for a while, just the release date wasn´t clear before that. If you ask me that article was pure clickbait. Quote

Yeah, that’s baseless speculation then We’ve known for a while that the movie was not gonna be released this year, so this couldn’t have affected the series. Quote
williejm Posted April 6 Posted April 6 Something that I am increasingly surprised we haven’t already had introduced via the CMF line is a hijab headscarf. At this point it seems like a massive oversight when Lego has its stated intent of increasing diversity and representation, and in a world where we have so many visible ability differences already represented, as well as so many BIPOC coded hairpieces now. I do wonder if it’s an issue of practicality, in that it may be difficult to design one that fits around a minifig head - but it seems long overdue. Quote

I don´t see the need for it, unless they need it for an licensed set, really. The Hijab is a religious thing and they also haven´t made a kippah for instance. Quote

The various hoods and keffiyeh are all quite thick, presumably a hijab would also need to be a similar thickness. It probably wouldn't look any different to the old style hood. Quote

The keffiyeh was restricted to the Prince of Persia sets, which in retrospect served us well with the camel and ostrich too Quote
