So it’s not like there’s any hard precedent. Edited January 21 by Accio Lego Quote

BrickBob Studpants Posted January 22 Posted January 22 @Roebuck It‘s the least likely out of all the suggestions I‘ve heard because MOTU is owned by Mattel. There‘s no reason for them to give their competitor a license when they have two construction toy brands at their disposal (Mega & Brick Shop). TLG collaborate with Hasbro now, sure, but that friendship was forged out of the ashes of Kre-o‘s demise My money‘s still on Shrek, even though it‘d be kinda weird to have a CMF series this year and potential sets next year, even if the former is based on the first 4 movies and the latter on the 5th one. Shrek feels like a franchise that is best served with playsets anyway But yeah, a better candidate still hasn‘t emerged so far. Quote

The leaker calls it S30, but that doesn‘t make any sense If it‘s a film getting released after the series does, it’s either Street Fighter, Jumanji 4, or Narnia. Any other ideas? Masters of the Universe! He-Man & Skeletor, here we go. Quote

Accio Lego Posted Saturday at 08:10 PM Posted Saturday at 08:10 PM Latest leaks name three code-named themes that are ‘new IP and returning’: - P (one set: 72306 $160) - B (three sets: 72421 [12+], 72422 [12+], 72423 $120) - Lollipop (one set: 72537 $70) And I’m dropping the info here because conceivably one of these could be a tie in set for the September CMF since new IP is mentioned. (I suspect B is the rumored K-Pop Demon Hunters sets and one of the others is supposedly a returning theme, but that still leaves a medium or large sized set) It seems prudent to bring up the possibility, since the biggest sticking point for IPs like Shrek and Narnia is “majorly important quadrupedal characters are too large to be a Minifigure accessory”, which having a tie in set would fix. Your general point still stands though (apart form the weird "potential 2027 movie" thing that still perplexes me). Quote

We're about to get a $650 Pokémon set, so this isn't outrageous for a gaming IP Besides, we had other video game one-offs with a higher price tag, like the Atari 2600 or the Pac-Man arcade machine. I'm more curious what IP it could be! Hopefully another Nintendo one! Quote

I suppose that could still theoretically work in conjunction with the CMF if the license in question is Street Fighter. We still don’t know if any of these are connected to the CMF though, it’s all just a ‘what if’ to keep in mind while we wait for more info. Quote

Looking at the mattel website it looks like Mattel is not Very active with their Mega building blocks. Only Some duplo like and hot wheels building sets show up on the US website. Perhaps they are stopping with Mega blocks and are licensing or partnering with LEGO. Mattel not having the Pokémon license renewed with LEGO taking over may also be a sign that Mattel is no longer interrested in the building block segment Quote

Accio Lego Posted Sunday at 08:53 AM Posted Sunday at 08:53 AM 2 hours ago, Roebuck said: Could it be Turtles? The timeframe would even be weirder, assuming it‘s actually a 2027 movie. So sets in the summer of 2026, a CMF series in September, and the movie some time next year, possibly with more sets? Not impossible, but the CMF series being unrelated sounds more plausible to me. Quote

Perhaps Mattel has been thinking “if you can’t beat LEGO, join them”. LEGO has been doing Very well with IP related properties so it could be interresting for Mattel. You could of course be right that Mattel does not want to co-operatie with LEGO but it would certainly be cool if the CMF series 30 would be He-man Quote
