_TLG_ Posted May 13 Posted May 13 Hello, and welcome to the Royal Nest! The updated Griffin Castle is back for the BrickLink Designer Program Series 11, you can find my submissions here: https://www.bricklink.com/v3/designer-program/series-11/main.page?page=1&s=tlg The round bastions, the decorated main gate, Gothic windows, the yellow half-timbered house, the plants, and many other details make this castle a worthy home for the king of the griffin faction. It can be displayed either closed or in multiple open formats, and in the open configurations, the interior becomes accessible. It includes a throne room, the king's bedroom, an attic with a treasure chest, a dining hall, a kitchen with a masonry oven, a blacksmith's forge with an anvil, a prison in the basement, and servants' quarters. All the doors are functional (though the one at the top of the staircase is blind). The set includes 9 minifigures (8 characters and 1 skeleton) and some animals, including a horse, offering plenty of play opportunities. Notable changes from Series 10: Much more detailed Gothic window and additional greenery on the main tower The color scheme and flags have been adjusted to better represent the Griffin faction The King now carries a faction flag Dimensions of the castle (closed): Width: 51.2 studs / 16.1 in / 40.9 cm Length: 51.9 studs / 16.4 in / 41.5 cm Height: 55.2 studs / 17.4 in / 44.1 cm The set is not actually based on a real building, but was inspired by some famous castles. I prefer the brick-built solutions to keep the flexibility of the used parts in further builds, so only one coat of arms sticker is used. Thanks for visiting, _TLG_ Quote
Elysiumfountain Posted May 18 Posted May 18 WOW! The arch brickwork above the main gate and the rounded towers are awesome, well done! Fingers crossed that you make it! :D Quote

hikouki Posted June 26 Posted June 26 Well-desrved for your excellent creation! Really love the rounded walls! Was it just last year that Lego/ BDP hinted that they wanted to move away from 'castles' for the BDP picks but here they are picking this and the Elven Citadel! They know what makes money and a good design sells really well!!! Quote
_TLG_ Posted June 26 Author Posted June 26 @hikouki Thank you so much! I am really glad you like the rounded walls. I definitely wanted to include them because many real castles have rounded towers and bastions. @Follows Closely Thank you! Quote

zoth33 Posted June 27 Posted June 27 I voted for this and the Elven citadel. I voted for some others too. This is a really nice offering. I would like to see an upgrade on the rockwork at the base in the final design. I do really like the round towers and the tudor style sections. Quote
Follows Closely Posted June 29 Posted June 29 (edited) Now we get to nag @_TLG_ and beg him to reveal what the new faction will be. Will it be the Raven knights, or something else? Edited July 2 by Follows Closely Quote
_TLG_ Posted July 2 Author Posted July 2 @zoth33 Thank you for the support, I am glad you like the round towers and the tudor style sections! Currently I am refining a model a bit :) Quote
Bridgette Posted July 3 Posted July 3 The windows in the towers are lovely, and I really like the way you did the stone archway! Quote
