R0Sch Posted May 1 Posted May 1 4 are done! Mobile Crane has 57 parts and the Wheel Loader 44 or 45. Quote
SNIPE Posted May 1 Posted May 1 Some yellow recolours at least. 90 degree comma panel (same part that is in the upcoming technic fast & furious Dodge Charger set) in yellow 3x2x1 cross block in yellow Quote
R0Sch Posted May 1 Posted May 1 So these are the collectible cards. Wow, how innovative and totally useful. As if construction vehicles are driving on paved roads. Quote
R0Sch Posted May 1 Posted May 1 Here are all the mini-builds 42233.io. In total 350 parts for all 8 models, so on average 44 parts per pack, yet there are less in some and more in others. The most boring is probably the Dump Truck with zero geared functions, but I like the simplicity of the chassis with the articulated steering. Renderings:Â https://imgur.com/a/2igZgAA Quote
thekoRngear Posted May 1 Posted May 1 Maybe all these miniatures are a nod from Lego- "we are done with True Technic, let's pay homage the masterpieces we'd done in the past"Â Â Quote

However, it is split into four quarters, which is why after posting that comment I said: 15 hours ago, HydroWorld Outlook said: In case anyone didn't notice, it looks like the dumping bed element on that dump truck is multiple pieces, actually. It's split into four quadrants connected to a small L-beam. Not sure why that's necessary for an assembly that small, but it's definitely not a single piece. That explains the direct axle mounting. In my job I see first-hand the effect gambling-adjacemt mechanics have on children's mental and emotional development. This is very disappointing and I can only hope it isn't the thin end of a wedge. Agreed. If that's truly the case though, then should we apply the same attitude towards the LEGO Minifigures blind box series too, then? Let us not stray too off topic here, but the same blind box business strategy is being applied across both Minifigures and Technic blind box series in this case. Plus, although these new Technic blind boxes will be more expensive than any individual Minifigures box, they offer unique nanoscale Technic models with decent functions delivered in small packages, providing a lower barrier to entry for young Technic fans who personally not yet have sufficient funds—or whose families may simply not have enough resources—to afford larger sets. We're already complaining left and right about prices on even some of the smaller Technic sets these days, so the fact that LEGO still strives to make sure kids have access to something affordable—despite all the noise of crazy prices—is very commendable, even though the overall blind box strategy itself is flawed. Auroralampinen Posted May 2 Posted May 2 Great to see a kid having fun time with these and using imagination for play(even thought this scenario in the real life would not happen. Unless worker didn't like the job or got bored for its job as a wrecking ball driver;).). Interesting why lego decided to create the smart play system. Because this kind of imaginative creative playing seems more fun to me to see:).  Quote

You took the appropriate part to match the new 1x3 thin liftarms. I'm very impressed - as usual - by your backward engineering skills. Quote

I would - and do - apply the same principles to any other gambling-adjacent mechanics, including minifigure blind boxes. However, minifigures do not interest me regardless, so it isn't something I feel the need to complain as much about. While I agree with your points broadly, my question remains - why do these nanoscale sets have to be released blind? All the good things you mentioned (accessibility, affordability, uniqueness, novelty) would not be affected if the sets were released as normal. On the price point in particular, while one set will be reasonably cheap, buying multiples (to complete the set, as is the point of blind boxes) will not be. Being cynical, I don't think these sets are commisioned without the blind box mechanic. Honestly, I think I'd prefer that scenario. Quote
BrickWild Posted May 3 Posted May 3 I'll be buying plenty of these just to part out into my inventory. ;-) Quote
R0Sch Posted May 3 Posted May 3 @Jay Psi Companies usually use blind boxes/bags when there are more duds than good ones in a collectible series. So they try to sell just as many duds to unknowing customers in the hopes for profit increase. Making it harder to get the desirable/rarer ones increases hype just as with CMF's or TCG's. Even this series has some great and some uninteresting models, which will be left unsold if adults will scan them all just like with CMF's. Quote
aeh5040 Posted May 4 Posted May 4 Both the modified thin 1x3 and the dumper/shovel part look as if they could be of interest to GBC builders... Quote

My thought exactly. Been brainstorming since the pics dropped. Guessing the dump truck could hold 2 GBC balls (maybe squeeze a third in?). And since the shovel part is quarter pieces, it just opens up the possibilities. Quote
