Nice to have pictures of the other side of that odd piece for the dump truck bed, that's LBG in the Dodge Charger engine.  I guess it's hollow inside and functionally is a perpendicular axle connector.

Oh, so now we're getting surprise blind boxes for LEGO Technic! Sweet! This is the first time we've seen that, for sure. From the looks of things, we'll be getting multiple series of these over the next several waves of set releases. For Series 1, we get our tried-and-true construction vehicles.

Unfortunately, the huge and obvious downside is that the model we actually get is left to chance—meaning we'd need to buy a whole huge box of these just to maximize our chances at getting all of them. And they will definitely cost more than buying the Minifigures blind boxes.

I much rather would have preferred an 8-in-1 set where you get all the pieces you need and choose which model to build, but sadly, that era of Technic is long gone it seems. :(

I will say that I'm very interested in those wacky-looking modified 1x3 half-beam elements, though.

Agreed, though we won't know how the part truly attaches until we see more pictures of these nanoscale blind box models. This new dump truck bed piece could also have a 1x3 lift arm molded into its bottom.

At first i thought this would be a type of universal set. Interresting parts.

Agreed, and I sure wish it were a universal set, but it's definitely a blind box, just like the LEGO Minifigures series. :(

You can see that new piece in the second set from the left on the top row. It has two perpendicular axle holes. The short edge appears to be 1.5 stud long, while the long edge is 2 studs long.

The sets are cute but random purchase is such a bad idea... And it will be much more expensive than a single box allowing to build everything.

Wonder what this included game card is supposed to be?

That 1x3 liftarm with handles is interesting. Not sure what other use case it could have outside these Minikits. I could see it as doors for some tiny cars maybe.

It closely resembles the B-model of 8433, featuring a variety of small alternate build sets.

It’s a pity they aren’t combinable.

There is a handy app called Minifig Scan that was originally created for the Collectible Minifigures, but it now seems to work for other LEGO mystery packs like the micro F1 cars. I’m pretty sure they’ll add these ones, too.

Basically, every box has a unique QR code on the bottom, so after a new series like this is launched, it takes them some time to find all the QR codes, but then you can just scan the code and see what’s inside. I got a few specific minifigures that way on first try (technically, it wasn’t even a try), and my brother got the Ice planet minifigure as soon as he got the app after buying a couple of random ones.

@imvanya The F1 cars are running also in the CMF line-up. And it's a Data Matrix code not QR code used for traceability and identification. Hopefully these boxes will have that too, but with TLG you never know.

My bad, you are absolutely right, they are Data Matrix.

I suspect TLG use those codes themselves, so if they work for the minifigures, I don’t see why they wouldn’t keep them for these. But who knows how corporations think.

The cement mixer with its directly driven and oblique mounted 24t gear is a nice idea we haven't seen yet.

But I don't see anything which entitles a decision to buy any of these "machines".

44 pieces per pack is also not cheap for 5€, considering the price of the magazine + gift with usually double the part count costs 7€.

There are eight different construction vehicles to discover: a road roller, a wheel loader, a dump truck, a cement mixer, a crane with a wrecking ball, a mobile crane, a bulldozer, and an excavator. Each box contains the model along with a game card featuring technical data and a road graphic, which can be connected to cards from other boxes to create a larger game board. The collectable aspect makes these small sets a popular gift or pocket money purchase. Each model can be quickly assembled from the 44 pieces and is a great introduction to the world of LEGO Technic sets. The vehicles are small enough to display on a desk or nightstand and robust enough for play. Children who want to collect all eight will be motivated by the surprise of opening each new box. Experience has shown that the excavator with its movable boom and the crane with its wrecking ball are particularly popular, but ultimately, each vehicle has its own unique charm.

So this description reads like there are not 8 different boxes but each box contains the same parts so it's not a collectible series. The only random thing in it will be the card. So I don't think there will be any DMC involved. It's a loot box for the card just like the collectible tiles in HP and One Piece. :(

This 3L half beam with the bar attached is really nice!

For shure this will be used as steps for as ladder in an upcoming bigger construction set :-)

...aaaand guys, this is how the Technic team manages to get away with releasing a construction vehicle for years to come :D

I have a feeling a small box won't include all the pieces to build every model (regardless of the description), because that would not make sense from a blind box point of view. But we'll see. I'd rather have 8 models with 44 pieces each than 8 models with a few bigger leftover parts.

I'll try to rebuild two of the builds and see if they can both have the same nr. of parts with no leftovers. Brb.

In case anyone didn't notice, it looks like the dumping bed element on that dump truck is multiple pieces, actually. It's split into four quadrants connected to a small L-beam. Not sure why that's necessary for an assembly that small, but it's definitely not a single piece. That explains the direct axle mounting.

Yep. Unfortunately, blind boxes suck. However, they're also a great way for toy companies to make big money, historically speaking.

Unfortunately, you're likely correct.

Yeah, there's no way all boxes contain the required elements for each minikit. That description from JBS is just BS. They are all different boxes.
I built the tracked wrecking ball and it contains 40 pcs.

There you go. That sucks!

Nice mock-up! Looks good. It's nice to see that TLG added a geared function in a model this tiny.

The concrete mixer contains 38 pieces. The gravity assisted gearing is brilliant. I'll post the .io file here once I'm done with them all.

They're empty inside, obviously

These look fun. Small Technic sets like this always remind me of some of my first forays into Technic back in the 90s... sets that weren't particularly big or complex but helped ease me into the concepts of building in three dimensions with pins and axles.
