Didn't he eat some medieval pork snacks in the opening of Shrek 2? Maybe that would be a more in-character accessory

Maybe he was that popular back then? It has been a really long time since I saw any of the films, so I can´t really say.

Gingy should not be in the CMF. He should have been the figure in the buildables. Not Puss.

He is one of the main characters, so it makes a lot sense to include him. But yeah, wouldn´t mind if they would have made a big buildable dragon, but I guess since the other sets will be for the new Film it will likely be something else and if the dragon will be included it will be rather small.

If they make the hat he is wearing so he is carring it leaning a bit backwards they could make it as an second print.

In the video, he also said that Shrek and Fiona will have specialised head pieces rather than the standard minifig head, which I think is for the best!

If not they would have had to make new "hair pieces" for them and especially the one for shreak would just look ugly going over the standart head - so would have been really surprised if they went that way, especially since they would need two moulds anyways

As with every series in the last coupla years beside Disney S3, I can’t help but wonder what it would look like had the reduction to 12 figures per series not occurred  I’m very happy with the choices here, but having 4 more would’ve added so much!

I imagine Pinocchio will have a nose like Disney's Pinocchio. I'm curious to see how all these figs look.

I wouldn't be surprised if they reused the exact same piece  Come to think of it, the series will touch upon quite a few familiar CMF archetypes and tropes, but for a fairy tale parody that's to be expected  On top of Pinocchio, we'll have a fairy, a knight (sort of), a dragon, a wizard, a villain coming from nobility in possession of a magic mirror, a swashbuckler, a wolf man (sort of), a princess, a gingerbread man, and a character representing a fairy tale species usually portrayed as evil. ...wait, that is every character except for the executioner

I just remembered that there's an easy reference to the third movie that could potentially be made by giving Pinocchio a baby carrier piece.

I seem to remember Merlin being semi important with donkey and puss mix up, could be wrong??

The same could be said also for the executioner. Didn’t think he was all the popular

But yea plenty of other side characters they could’ve picked

Merlin doesn’t have a ton of screentime, but it’s more than other side characters have and he is relevant to the proceedings. And yes, he’s also responsible for that body swap

The executioner is not super important, but he is pretty iconic to the first movie I’d say ^^ (Or maybe I’m biased because the first one is my favourite)

Personally, I’m very happy with the choices they’ve made. It may not be perfect (like Gingy should have been included in the buildable Shrek & Donkey set, freeing his CMF spot for someone else), but it’s still a very good selection in my eyes
