Kaijumeister Posted January 5 Posted January 5 Laughs* in Juggernaut and MTT. *(Sobs) The Mando sets actually sound promising! Now if they can just confirm we’ll get some Ahsoka stuff. Quote
Virginia_Bricks Posted January 5 Posted January 5 Getting a Bounty Hunter pursuit set too. Feels like a pretty substantial summer wave and maybe the Smart Brick sets didn't each too much into the # of regular sets. Quote
Llewop Posted January 5 Posted January 5 (edited) Are these May and June Mando sets do we think? I’ve lost track of what’s coming and price of numbers we know. also the Hoth smart play set 140 got to have an ATAT in it right? So that would be the fourth iteration of one in a year, slowly becoming the landspeeder. But honestly how stupid would one look at that scale and accommodate the smart brick. so what other sets are coming that haven’t been leaked for March/may? Edited January 5 by Llewop Quote

BrickBob Studpants Posted January 5 Posted January 5 Bounty Hunter Pursuit? Mudhorn and Offworld Jawas? Ewok Village? Imperial Shuttle? $150 buildable Yoda? Vader maxifig? Poster sets?? This is gonna be WILD. Quote
Llewop Posted January 5 Posted January 5 Bounty hunter pursuit, ewok village wow unexpected! This must be most the summer wave. Not a clone in sight. But was hoping for something Ahsoka S2 Quote
Kaijumeister Posted January 5 Posted January 5 (edited) @BrickPrick We did it, we manifested a General Skywalker minifigure Hopefully the Delta-7B also includes Dooku. This sounds like a refreshingly good summer wave (although I question the point of having a Yoda Bust, Vader Bust, and buildable figures of both characters releasing within one year). Unfortunately it’s sounding like Ahsoka S2 will get the shaft as a result :( Alas, poor Enoch. I’m surprised at the sheer volume of stuff releasing this year, and the sets sound great too. Smart sets don't look quite as bad as I was expecting but not exactly good either. The Vader's TIE is that awkward middle ground where it's clearly not a normal set (what's with those gaps around the windscreen especially?) but looks almost passable, so I definitely agree with previous concerns about it pushing back whenever we next see a "proper" version of it. No it can’t be. FILONIIIIIIIIIIII!!!! Throne Room: actually a cool design wth. That A-Wing looks decent too. The turret not so much. I believe Filoni has said that he’s been using Zahn as a consultant. This is the devil's deal he made to adapt the Thrawn Trilogy. I... I might be OK with it in that scenario. I can stomach a year or two of these for that. Yeah, from what I can see of the throne room it's actually a really impressive play-oriented version of the recent diorama, and I love the figure jousting element. But this didn't need to be a smart set. 18 minutes ago, wicket said: There goes our chance of getting a proper Echo Base playset before 2035 NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO 9 minutes ago, Kaijumeister said: More Smart Play sets are apparently coming: - Ewok Attack ($30) - Battle of Hoth: Echo Base ($140) 2 minutes ago, CloneCommando99 said: Time for pick a brick imperial base and Ninjago Legacy ig. How do you sell out of pre-orders? How was a bookstore the only place that had any stock left?), and I'll probably end up getting one or two Titan mechs. 2 minutes ago, Llewop said: Sancrawler, ATAT and imperial shuttle coming linked to Mando (not smart play) some good news to counter the shite That's interesting. Imperial Shuttle has got to be the $75 one, I would assume it's pretty similar to the $70 one a few years back. Either the AT-AT or sandcrawler will have to be downsized- my guess is the sandcrawler, as I think it can reasonably be done at a $130 price point and the cramped interior would match what we see poor mando suffer through in the show. From the few images I can see on @MKJoshA's link to polygon: For all three, the prices are absolutely out of the question, beyond anything we've ever seen from lego before. The smart brick's inclusion seems to quite literally double the MSRP. TIE Retreated: I feel like the godfather finding out what happened to Sonny- "Look how they massacred my boy". This set is oddly blocky and fattened, even in areas that it doesn't seem to need to be to accommodate the smart brick. It's also strange that they go out of their way to put a curved surface on the wings that isn't there on the actual ship- I wondered if it had something to do with leaving that edge on the ground, but no, plenty of tie sets have just a plate edge there. The biggest issue is, of course, the rear of the ship, which is incredibly compromised. It seems like they don't even include roof covers here, which demolishes any possibility of using these sets outside the smart context, but even if they did, the shape of this set is still very warped and chibi for a non-microfighter. The one bit of praise I can give here is the side builds- I actually quite like the Yavin one, I would have loved that in a battle pack. Overall, this was a vehicle I've been hoping for a new version of for ages, and I'm very disappointed the official lego version is so compromised by smart integration. I'll have to bricklink my MOC. X-Grounded: It seems like every build that's meant to have the smart brick set in it requires a large exposed section with some red technic elements. It's disappointing they don't seem to provide covers for these- but again, even if they did, the shape of the ship is still too warped to compete with any prior official iterations. The turret vexes me as well- it includes a turbolaser base but the head is absolutely not that of a turbolaser, to the point I don't believe that it was meant to be one. The enlarged rebel ground cart is an odd choice and I can't help but feel those parts could have been allocated to the x-wing, with the cart's reduced size being more accurate. I am not quite sure what's going on with the Yavin side build either, especially as they did such a good job on the Yavin build in the advanced set. Throne Room: I have to give them credit here- the throne room itself is really an excellent looking set- the designers don't hold back the techniques here for the assumably younger target audience, although they do throw in a very nice play feature to have Luke and Vader battle. This would have been an excellent $70--90 set. Unfortunately, the smart brick and side builds double the price. The A-wing uses some interesting parts in the front fuselage but unfortunately is back-heavy with the 2017 engine builds 1:1 despite the smaller scale. It's also lost it's special-molded fins and appears to have a large gap opening at the back. I have nothing to say about the turret, as it doesn't appear to be representing any specific in-universe emplacement. It may take up a bit more of the piece count than it needed to, but it's fine as a side build. Quote

Tariq j Posted January 5 Posted January 5 Those Mandalorian sets sound promising. I will say LEGO did a pretty great job covering the ST, Rogue One and Solo so I have a lot of confidence for that wave of sets. The summer wave sounds like something of a return to form. Not too keen on yet more buildable figures but I am happy we’re finally getting a Bounty Hunter chase after 24 years of waiting! The Bespin duel sounds like it’ll be similar to the set they released a few years back for the anniversary of Empire. Quote

Could be anyone, but I wouldn't say Dooku's impossible given a lot of the other likely options (Obi-Wan, Ventress, Ahsoka) were done last year. Yeah, mostly. Between TMAG and the 4-5 system sets in what's presumably the august wave, we are at about a normal system set outlook, which makes the smart wave a lot easier to stomach (though I'm still disappointed this likely "resets the clock" on stuff like a TIE Advanced.) 42 minutes ago, BrickBob Studpants said: That‘s an insane list! I'm pretty confident lego intentionally let the august wave slip free today, and I'm 100% on their side for it. I'm very excited for the sets it sounds like we've got coming up. There might still be a lot of expirimental/18+ sets, but also a good number of totally normal, "dumb" sets I've wanted to see for awhile (EWOK VILLAGE! IMPERIAL SHUTTLE! SANDCRAWLER!) I personally don't care about Bounty Hunter Pursuit but I'm happy for those who wanted it, and I recognize how big of a win it is. Honestly, this totally turned me around on the year, seeing that the august wave isn't a repeat of last year's clone wave. I'm feeling a lot more positive. Edited January 5 by Mandalorianknight Quote
Iperial_Fleet_Commander Posted January 5 Posted January 5 I gotta say, Lego making a new torso piece for astromech units after 27 years, FINALLY allowing them to rotate their head... only to include a 2x2 place on their back for a smart brick tile? That feels like some horrible monkey's paw scenario... Really hope we get a smartbrick-less version of that someday, it's honestly one of the few flaws that has never really been corrected with those original sets and their figures. The rest of the rumored sets sound alright though. I know people are gonna go crazy for a new Zam after all these years. Quote
BrickPrick Posted January 5 Posted January 5 WOOOOOOOOAH... I would gladly take that Bount Hunter Pursuit remake of your greedy hands, Lego! Holy hell, to say this thing is long overdue is putting it mighty mildly... but better late than never. What are the actual odds all these leaks happen on the very same day the super smart stuff is getting revealed? Somebody at Lego HQ wanted to soften the blow or something? 42 minutes ago, Kaijumeister said: @BrickPrick We did it, we manifested a General Skywalker minifigure Hopefully the Delta-7B also includes Dooku. Somebody at Lego HQ wanted to soften the blow or something? This has to be it, I bet it was that anti-leak guy they hired awhile back. It was a genius move- especially considering how many long-requested sets and figures will be making an appearance this summer. Very well played, lego. Don't get me wrong, I'm still vehemently opposed to the concept of smart sets. But leaking all these long requested sets the same day was an amazing move. I would never have expected more than 1 or 2 of these sets based on how things had been going the last few years, and am estatic to see lego turning it around. (The Mando movie helps somewhat, but it didn't give us that Ewok Village, or the new Bespin Duel, or Bounty Hunter Pursuit) 7 minutes ago, Virginia_Bricks said: I wouldn't count on it since Ahsoka's Interceptor was $45 and had 3 and a similar piece count to Obi-Wan's. Obi-wan's was only a few years ago- I mean, it's still on shelves at my local retailers- and never got a price bump like they've done to other sets, implying they were OK with that $30 price point. Not to mention it's a more direct comparison as it'll likely be a near-identical build just in a different color. Edited January 5 by Mandalorianknight Quote
