howitzer Posted November 21, 2025 Posted November 21, 2025 The lengths of the sides in the originally hypothesized triangle are 2, 3,5 and 4 and if you make a calculation based on the Pythagorean theorem, you get 2^2 + 3,5^2 = 16,25 for which square root is approximately 4,0311 so one of the holes is only about 0,03 studs offset from perfect alignment and as 1 stud = 8 mm that's about 0,25 mm, around the same as two sheets of paper. The parts easily bend much more from the weight in heavier models so I hardly see a problem here. Quote

I like this model more and more and started to B-modelling it. The model reminds me alot to the 42127 Batmobil 2022. Different wheel sizes as well and curved fenders they are hard to reuse. R0Sch Posted November 21, 2025 Posted November 21, 2025 Without the stickers it will most definitely look like a Batmobile. Btw, that rubber element is connected to the exhaust so that it "bends" when you hinge open the rear engine cover. 3/4 done Quote

howitzer Posted December 7, 2025 Posted December 7, 2025 It seems that Technic designers have really become skilled at making shapes that are aligned outside the grid, with even the small cars getting constantly better sculpted bodywork. This is commendable but at the same time I can't help to feel the sadness of lacking functionality - sets tend to look great but don't do much. Quote
Paul B Technic Posted December 7, 2025 Posted December 7, 2025 I agree with the above, this looks great but lacks any features of note, it does not “do” much… Quote
damian_kane_iv Posted December 8, 2025 Posted December 8, 2025 Set looks great and price is high but in line with recent inflation in US and EU. I agree with others that there was a missed opportunity in the wheels and tires. Functionality doesn't matter much to me here. At this scale this is purely a display piece or a child's push-vroom-vroom car Quote

Timorzelorzworz Posted December 9, 2025 Posted December 9, 2025 (edited) The price per part is less than 10 cents for this model, which is "normal" for 18+. The 42224 Rexy Porsche offers significantly worse value for money. Significantly more than 10 cents per part for a none 18+ set. Same price as the Skyline (18+) with 100 parts less. Rexy is the clear loser for January. The model has a price tag as if it were 18+. Edited December 9, 2025 by Timorzelorzworz Quote
AVCampos Posted December 9, 2025 Posted December 9, 2025 Maybe Rexy costs more because it requires more recolours? Quote
Hehesz Posted December 9, 2025 Posted December 9, 2025 I genuinely think we might be past looking at Price Per Piece ratios for these sets in Technic. 42224 Rexy is $10 more expensive than the same scaled 42210 Skyline which might just be a general price hike for sets that size considering everything from the next wave is getting more expensive. It's really looking like LEGO is straying away from core Technic for the sake of selling licensed products. If you're looking for value around the GT40's scale just get last year's 42212 or 42213, because $65 MSRP for ~900 parts is probably one of the best Price Per Piece bargains right now. If it wasn't for that putting sets within the same groups then a 900 pieces set could've totally been priced around $90 Quote
Stereo Posted December 10, 2025 Posted December 10, 2025 (edited) Technic's always had a different marker for Price per Piece because of all the small connecting pieces though. The Bronco has 400+ pins of various descriptions in its 900 parts. (using a pretty broad category that includes 22961 pinhole with axle, for example - around 380 if you only include different lengths of part with pin/axle in a line) The 42093 has under 600 parts, but only 240 are pins. (216 with the narrower category) They are necessary for the sets, but they don't get recolored to match, so I have hundreds-thousands of each kind already, buying a set doesn't get me something new. Edited December 10, 2025 by Stereo Quote
howitzer Posted December 10, 2025 Posted December 10, 2025 Price per gram is more accurate way to compare value of the sets, especially when it comes to Technic because, as said above, pins make for a significant part of the total part count while being small and essentially useless for someone who has a large collection of parted out sets. Funny enough, the new 6L A-pillar isn't used as a hypotenuse in a Pythagorean triangle. Yes, I know, there is one at last... but it is done in a far from trivial way. My point is: This A-pillar is adjacent to the slightly tilted roof (at the top) and to a 2L beam (at the bottom which does some adjustment. All in all, the "triangle" has non-integer side lengths. So the A-pillar's "Pythagorean potential" (3 - 4 - 5 side lengths formed by 4 - 5 - 6 L beams) is not used in this set; however, of course it is still there and surely will be used in MOCs and future official sets. All other cars in the same wave are licensed as well. This is a simple marketing concept, the set got the 18+ badge, it is for adults now so it can be more expensive. Quote
