Figured I would some pictures of my castle factions. I'll keep adding to this topic over time. Feel free so ask about any of the figures or lore stuff.

First up is the kingdom of Halloran. The bulk of Halloran consists out of crown knights but they also include: green dragon knights, forest men, a lion knight (2013) and the warhorse knight (Knights Kingdom II).

The Queen, King Consort and Queen's Guard.

I've become quite fond of them since I started collecting more castle stuff. I did have a couple of them when they came out in 2010 but never any of the fully armoured knights.

Next up, the kingdom of Kestrallis. Any castle fan will of course know them as the Black Falcons. I didn't grow up with classic castle so I never had any Black Falcons nor any interest in army building them.

In the end I too was tempted by Pick a Brick. With no previous attachment to these knights they made for the perfect villan faction. I try to never use a head more than once with all these figures, save a twin or two. For Kestrallis specifically you'll notice a good number of mustachioed men.

The king (THE Black Falcon), princess and the Falcon Guard.

I prefer the Black Falcons with silver /light metallic armor. Black is more nostalgic but I find it not so appealing anymore. Too dark for my taste.

That also makes for a good look. I kept it for the Falcon Guard. To me the black armour looks ''heavier'' and stands out from my other factions. As I post the others you'll see more of the faction identities in terms of colour, armour and weapons. You can also infer connections between the factions that way. Don't worry though, the next faction will bear flat silver ;)

Nice Castle armies so far. However I would recomend you to make those foot soldiers more diverse... Like man-at-arms, rather than separate gangs of "swordsman / spearmen" etc. :)

Thanks for the comment. For most of my factions I prefer the more uniform styling. My Black Falcons are meant to be the most militarised kingdom in the lore, that's why they all wear the same tunic as well.

You'll find a bit more diversity among a couple of my other factions, but I shan't spoil them here.

In my lore it's the opposite. My Falcons are very diverse including ferocious female warriors. They are a nordic kingdom who worship the old nordic gods.

The Lion Knights are a more typical medieval Christian Kingdom were the men rule, and the women doing the household stuff.

The Wolfpack are criminals who produce and trade selfmade dangerous ale. They also take jobs as a hitman or spy.

The Forrest people are anarchists who live what the forrest has to offer. So mostly hunting.

I wish I could upload some pics  because I have a really good looking and diverse Black Falcon army.

I spent a lot on Bricklink for my Falcons, mostly retired parts, armor and hair from other themes.

My king wears a gold helmet with feathers  ( from a cmf) and has a green knight torso, the queen wears the viking hair with silver feathers ( came in creator viking ship  )with a green dress (from Harry Potter) , some Falcons wear winged helmets ( from Dwarven fantasy era  )

Some female warriors wear the female Thor helmet with feathers and blonde hair.

The princess archer has the ginger hairpiece from Horizon( it looks fantastic! )

And some warriors wear the classic viking helmet ( without horns).

Most of them are ginger or blond. It really stands out with their darker tunic. And it  really fits with the nordic theme and the BDP Mountain Fortress. It's my version of the kingdom in the North from Game of Thrones combined with some Viking mythology. I call it Nørðumbriå.

The stormtroopers ( that's how I call the grunt) are all generic ,wearing light metallic helmets and  pauldrons.

But they are all battle ready to defend their culture and religion from the treath of the Lion Knights from the south that's called Cataluña.

That's really cool stuff. I would love to see some pictures of them, maybe you could get your start another topic with your collection and get everybody to share their factions and lore. I also like Nørðumbriå as a kingdom name, it goes well with Morcia from Knights Kingdom II. All we need now is a Lego equivalent of Wessex. I am wondering though which lion knights you have, or did you mix and match the various ones?

Same here, I think where it is a professional army, then it looks better to have mainly consistency in weapons and uniforms/outfits for normal soldiers with diverse heads to make the individuals look different. For knights, where they might be able to afford their own individual weapons rather than an issued weapon, I'll have a bit of variation in swords or other weapons.

I prefer mine to look a bit more old school so I use plain black legs with mine, which also makes them look better when posed as the print always looks weird when it partially disappears into the hips. I also replace the arms with black ones for the main infantry to match the legs but then use other colours of arms and legs for different groups (greys both work well, as do browns or tans) so it looks like a tunic over a single colour outfit. Similarly there are black and other colour short sleeve patterns in both yellow or fleshie depending on your preference that look good for a bit of variation without changing anything else. The CMF BF archer has a nice arm but of course that torso is a bit harder to get now (although can often be had for ~2 Euro / £2). The torso is also not bad, but I don't like the printed cape.

I tried to upload pics up here but it doesn't work.

Regarding Wessex, my Nørðumbria is not an English kingdom. It's a made up kingdom and because it has the word norð/north in it ,I think it's a cool name for the Black Falcons kingdom. And Winterfell is their  castle.

For the Lion Knights, I use the new ones.  All soldiers are male ,wear kettle helmets and pauldrons. No female warriors. They are very uniform . Only the Knights are different with different colors of capes  and plumes. The knights all wear long Lion shields and the new armor with pauldrons from the Paladin cmf. They are richer than the Falcons so they have more money for expensive armor. They live in a warmer climate with luxurious vinyards.  And therefore I call their  kingdom Cataluña. Their castle is called Camelot.

Eurobricks can not host the truckloads of pictures people would upload if it would be possible. You have to host your pictures elsewhere on a website like imgur, flickr or basically any other website that allows you to upload pictures. Then you add the image address to your eurobricks post and the picture will be shown automatically. While flickr needs a user account, imgur does not. I use both services. But of course there are many more.

That also makes for a good look. I do quite like the simplicity of older figures. I'm actually not that big of a fan of printed arms or the side of legs either. The printed cape on the falconer torso does look weird. I used to have realistic skintones on my figures, but switched back to yellow. It just seemed to spark more joy.

That's some good lore. I haven't found a good use for my paladin armour yet.

Lydonia's last defenders. I did not intend to have a faction of lion knights. It started with one breastplate. Then I made a figure, the Lydonian Exile. Then I added some more. Having already established Lydonia as a fallen kingdom I had no need of a large army. In the past they were equal to Kestrallis, now only Halloran can hope to match them.

Two (former) royal guards and a standard knight.

The Lion Knights look really cool with those paladin armor combined with the long Lion shields and colorfull capes, especially if they are riding horses with bardings

That's a custom breast plate on the right?

Those white prints are good. Often you will get pink with Lego's white printing on red

Fleshtones only for licensed themes. Yellow for everything else. That makes it distinguishable like the Simpsons

No. It's available in the KK1 royal castle.

It does come is the royal castle, but I know it best as Sir Adric's armour from the final wave of Knights Kingdom II. The armour is actually red with silver, you saw a green version of it among my crown knights. it caught a bit too much of the sun in the photo, I'm still getting used to my new editing software.

Here come the trolls of Escaria. This is where I break with my use of unique heads, I haven't yet found any good ones to diversify my trolls. I am aware of the orc cmf but I never got any. I kept the trolls mostly unchanged from the sets, but I did add some armour and spears. These trolls don't have a king and exist as ''warbands'' under the leadership of local warchiefs. Generally they aren't prone to warmongering though.

Warchiefs, troll youths and a half-troll.

I hope you all packed your winter coats, we're heading for Doarlunyn. Like my lion knights, this faction started with a single figure. I had two snow guardians from the CMF and turned one into an elf. I liked the wintery look so I made some more and even got the elf maiden cmf for the hair. Strahd's outfit from the D&D cmf fit in with the northern look so I used it for the king. While I don't have many elves, I do plan to expand this faction in the future.

The elven king and the rangers of Doarlunyn.
