Here is the 42236:).

I don't really get what your problem with writing capital letters is. The official name of the set is "Custom Garage Ford Mustang GT."

Given that 42230 and 42237 haven't even shown up on the Brickset set list for 2026, I don't think they're actual sets.

I want to believe the absence of their listings is due to the tight-sealed leak of information.

There are three possible scenarios. First, these set numbers are simply skipped, meaning they are blank entries and do not exist at all. Second, these sets do exist but have not been leaked yet. Third, they are next year’s new releases, whose product numbers are mixed in with current-year listings, just like the case of 42127.

They're probably cars anyway.

Actually, did lego actuallly still make these scale cars allow the yellow prongs of the 42098 still fit into the underside of the car?

Or do the cars technically fit but the prongs have nowhere to go into.

Yes, @kbalage we need new Car Transporter compatibility test with these new cars. Thanks if you can make 2026 update video of the car transporter combatibility test:).

The latest ones I have that it does catch on something are the Koenigsegg and Lamborghini.  The Bronco and Jeeps of course nothing is that low (it only sticks up 2 studs)

That new Mustang's 17 wide so it might just not fit... lower deck's also exactly 17 wide.

There is a 4th option, although more unlikely: Sets will appear out of nowhere. This happened with the 42100, which was released in october 2021 2019 :-)

Apart from all the boring cars, there are 3 sets I'm curious about:

42238 Ducati Desmo450 MX Factory 457pcs 49.99€ - Could be cool and at least a little deviation from the norm of only speedy bikes and cars.

42239 The iconic Batmobile from the Christopher Nolan movies 719pcs 189.99€ - Here I'm interested how Lego will do the steering, considering the PU hub 113926 will be used

42242 Mercedes Benz Unimog U5023 With Crane - Only set I will buy directly on launch day, just to support non-car themes.

What a wasted year for technic :-/

42100 was not "out of nowhere" in 2019, as it appeared in the confidential catalogue together with other sets of that wave.

Strange... in my mind we got all the info for the 2H 2019 sets earlier (late 2018) and then the 42100 and 42110 came with a long delay in late spring. Maybe my memory let my down on this one.

I'm kind of losing interest in the Technic line lately. It's getting tiresome seeing nothing but all kinds of vehicle sets year after year. I'm even thinking of switching over to the City theme instead.

It's really strange as one can argue that there are enough MOCs to keep Technic alive, but I feel you.

The hobby always interested me the most when new models came out that gave spark with new parts, especially wheels, gears, mechanisms and motors to create something worthy and unique. Right now, even with all the new parts ,this spark sadly is gone for me.

Still have hopes for 2027 with the 50th anniversary.

Do we have any relevant answers from Lego why they changed the Technic theme to Cars theme?

Most likely because cars are selling very well and are enjoyed by many people outside the Technic community.

Same here. I first fell in love with LEGO Technic for its unique open-frame, skeletal aesthetic. You could use flexible axles and hoses to shape sleek outlines and create stylized, abstract recreations. The models also came in large sizes, plus I’m a big fan of all the different tires and wheel options. That’s why I’ve always believed Technic is truly a theme designed for adult LEGO fans.
But now, the lineup is flooded with licensed 1:15 scale small car sets. They only have minor differences in looks, and they offer almost no meaningful mechanical functions besides basic engine piston linkage.
Do long-time fans have to wait an entire year just for one single decent set? Take set 42242 this year for instance — it finally has that classic old-school Technic vibe, and we’re not even sure if it was just a last-minute filler release. This is really draining the passion of veteran fans.
Now as this year’s new sets keep rolling out, I just give them a casual, indifferent comment and move on, with zero urge to buy any of them.
Next year will be a turning point that shows TLG’s real attitude toward the Technic theme. If they still flood the market with endless car sets, I don’t think the 51st and 52nd anniversaries will have anything worth looking forward to. The 50th anniversary was already a meaningful milestone, yet they didn’t release anything stunning enough to thrill longtime fans. If this trend keeps up, it’s definitely time for me to switch to another LEGO theme.
