MAB Posted Saturday at 08:09 AM Posted Saturday at 08:09 AM Not really my thing. The frog is OK. But they could be improved as animals instead of costumes with plain red heads or ones like these Quote
Lion King Posted Saturday at 03:37 PM Posted Saturday at 03:37 PM I do love movable legs like medium and normal minifiuure legs. I still don’t’ think Lego would phrase out short legs, no matter how weird Fish and Monkey mini figures look with those medium or regular legs, they look great in their own ways. In my own view, i feel like Fish costume is a preteen girl, enough to be “tall” with medium legs like Harry, Ron, and Herimone from the Harry Potter CMF Series 1. Once again, I would be surprised to see a new piece - movable short legs but it’s highly unlikly…. So, it’s also unlikely for Lego to phase out strand and short legs. Quote
Accio Lego Posted Saturday at 08:09 PM Posted Saturday at 08:09 PM I think the benefit of using non-short legs on the fish suit was that it allowed the designers to include scale printing around the hips. Two thirds of this series has something extra going on with the legs, and the Fish, Frog, and Dalmatian specifically have prints that I’m pretty sure Lego just doesn’t do on short legs for manufacturing reasons. Borex Posted Saturday at 10:49 PM Posted Saturday at 10:49 PM The goldfish costume is pretty static as it is, if they would use the short legs it would be an almost non moveable minifig i guess. Quote
Shiva Posted Saturday at 11:20 PM Posted Saturday at 11:20 PM All seem quite nice. I'll buy a complete set. Quote
Robert8 Posted yesterday at 03:57 AM Author Posted yesterday at 03:57 AM Didnt see it before but the baseplates are limegreen Quote
Wesley D Posted yesterday at 06:48 AM Posted yesterday at 06:48 AM I guess I know why there wasn't chosen for short legs. Posable legs make it easier to place the minigures more stable, especially when they are wearing costumes. I like this series a lot! I didn't expect me to, as I long for a classic series of collectable minifigures. They don't come too often anymore! Quote

Hopefully filling gaps of both missing accessories (e.g. sports gear, animals, tools) and absent themes (historical, cultural and former Lego themes), which is something the early series generally did. This is a fun series though and certainly for me much more exciting than Formula 1, Spider-Man, which do not really offer anything new or useful to general Lego themes. From my most favourite to least favourite... Peacock Koala Frog Goldfish Crocodile Parrot Dolphin Monkey Lion Rabbit Dalmatian Cat It does still also leave lots of opportunity for other costumed animals in future., Quote

Same, hopefully such a big gap will mean they have more ideas and (definitely won't but I can dream) pause the onslaught of costume figures. Not been a space figure in a series since series 26 if I'm not mistaken Quote

From my most favourite to least favourite... Peacock Koala Frog Goldfish Crocodile Parrot Dolphin Monkey Lion Rabbit Dalmatian Cat It does still also leave lots of opportunity for other costumed animals in future., I've kept the checklists from past CMFs and I was looking through the past minifigs, and it seems that all the past ones could be classified into perhaps three to five categories. And Lego, interestingly focused on only one of these, supposedly to 'homogenize' the theme, perhaps. 1. The CMF had an animal head with holes for eyes. The entire minifig mimicked the animal itself. An example of this is the gorilla suit guy from Series 3 which I believe may have been the very first animal suit CMF? Other examples would be the cat from Series 18, and the teddy bear (was this from BAM?), as well as the Panda (BAM Chinese New Year). 2. Animal body and torso. The head piece shows the animal's full face, but it also shows the full face of the minifig. I believe the first of this example is the lizard guy from Series 5. I would like to also point out that the upcoming animal costume series appears consistent with this minifig. These tend to be more "fun" or "party-like". Apart from various examples from the CMF, we've also had a giraffe from a TLM CMF, chick from a seasonal promotion, and blue bird from BAM. 3. Animal body and torso, but the headpiece only shows part of the animal head, with no animal face or eyes. It does show the full minifig face. The minifig is more of a "person imitating an animal". Examples of these would be the rabbit guy from Series 7, and the bee girl from Series 10. Also, the tiger lady from Series 14. 4. Same as style #2 but mythological creatures such as the Unicorn or Dragon. 5. Same as style #2 but prehistoric creatures (so far, only dinosaurs). 6. Re-colored animal suit to commemorate or reference a theme. These are in various styles, but mostly #2 and #3. Examples would be the BAM releases as well as the Chinese New Year mascots. Some but not all of these could possibly be remade into style #2. (e.g., get the CNY tiger headpiece and put it on to Tigger, etc.) One could also argue that the wolf from Series 23 might belong to this sub-group since he is wearing a jumpsuit, but not sure there is a torso and body combo you could slap it on to. Not sure whether to classify the shark guy from Series 15 into #2 or #6 since he is blue. The shark tuxedo guy is definitely in #6. Quote
Lion King Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago I like those lime green baseplates. Pretty fun! Quote
hikouki Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Forgot to mention upthread... I would really love for Lego to make a Phoenix for category #4. I would also love for them to make more dinosaurs, but especially other prehistoric creatures like the mammoth and saber tooth tiger. It would be interesting how they do the horse for next year's CNY sets. Quote

The peacock is also the only one that doesn’t have an actual Lego animal counterpart. Is that a cheeky hint that one will come soon? Quote

Is there any other possible animal or costume that could repurpose it? 28 minutes ago, williejm said: ...
