It should NOT be a controversial social statement. LOL Hence, as I've said before, I'm glad they released the Snow White cottage ahead of that movie. I think there had been enough hype from several years of Ideas proposals that the set went on back order soon after release. - Going back to BATB, I wonder what other scenes in the animated movie could be made into a set? I would really love for some of the castle staff eventually represented in minifig form. And especially Belle in her village dress. - Villain Icons seems to have really been a set of Easter eggs! Evil Witch = Snow White cottage, Maleficent = the stillborn dragon set, Gaston = BATB castle. The only thing missing is an Aladdin set!!! Really hope they reconsider making that Maleficent dragon set! Aurora still does not have a prince!!! Quote

Evil Witch = Snow White cottage, Maleficent = the stillborn dragon set, Gaston = BATB castle. The only thing missing is an Aladdin set!!! Really hope they reconsider making that Maleficent dragon set! Aurora still does not have a prince!!! Most of the remakes are pretty mediocre. I think the BATB remake doesn't come close to the original film but it's mostly inoffensive compared to the newer ones. Based on rumors for a Tangled remake, it seems Disney is slowly learning their lessons about stunt casting and returning to casting actors who actually look like the characters. But the rest of Hollywood hasn't learned this lesson between Harry Potter, Marvel's female Silver Surfer, and now Narnia wanting Meryl Streep to voice Aslan. A lot of the rejected Lego ideas sets that were Disney themed were made into real sets like the Snow White cottage and Lilo & Stitch's house. I'm not sure if Cherry Tree Lane from Mary Poppins or Remy's restaurant from Ratatouille would ever get that treatment since their submissions have been rejected multiple times as well, but there's been no indication Lego wants to make sets for those. At least the Snow White cottage looked as good as the original submission but Lilo & Stitch was a major downgrade. I think the castle staff aren't likely to get minifigures now, since only a castle set could feasibly include them. Maybe if they ever remake this castle set, like as a larger version. But the designers mentioned that they specifically created the BATB castle to be smaller than the flagship Disney Castle because they didn't want anything to rival that. So that seems to suggest not to expect any castles from other Disney movies that are any size larger than the current BATB one. I think BATB is popular enough that we could get a village set with Maurice's cottage, the bookshop, Gaston's tavern, and other things like the bakery, fountain, etc. Especially learning that Belle in her blue village dress was intended to be included in the castle set originally. Since TLM and BATB both got sets, I'm predicting the next Disney D2C set would be an Aladdin one. Otherwise, we only got the microscale Agrabah set. I also think we deserve a proper minifigure set for Maleficent as a dragon. The minidoll version looks nice but is a bit cartoony, like the scales printed around the eyes and the wings being the wrong color. As you said, we need a Phillip minifigure pronto and I'd like to see Aurora in a blue dress as well with a more movie accurate design (like a molded crown and longer hair) Quote
BitByBrick Posted April 13 Posted April 13 My daughter is wanting Belle’s castle, but not interested in the current GWP Easter bunny. Does anyone know of Double points coming up or other future GWP that might be available with the purchase of this set? Thanks Quote

Jarreth2 Posted April 19 Posted April 19 (edited) I'm planning on picking up the Beauty and the Beast castle when there's a double points event. I've ordered the parts to do this though, I just wasn't a fan of the lavender, so I quickly did this, very quickly so it's rough, in procreate to see what it would look like and yeah I like it. I did look to see if the pieces were available in light nougat, but the corner bricks were 90p each as it seems like it's an unofficial colour for that brick. Also thought white would be a little cheaper and make it look different from the new Disney Castle. I think the ballroom tower blends in nicely now too 😁 Edited April 19 by Jarreth2 Quote

I think someone posted a MOC on RB but it was a micro build, although in similar colors to yours. Quote
Jarreth2 Posted April 20 Posted April 20 (edited) @hikouki yeah I noticed that one too .. I was hoping someone might do the 'back' for the castle or extend it .. not seen anything yet. The new 101 Dalmatians set has appeared on facebook .. very much like the buildable Simba .. not for me personally but it looks fantstic. It looks like one puppy that you can have in 2 differerent poses .. I think they';; be 2 different builds rather than yo being able to 'pose' it .. but I could be wrong. BacktoBricks Posted April 20 Posted April 20 (edited) The 101 Dalmatian set is too cute. Such good work by the designer and the pose ability is great. 1 hour ago, Jarreth2 said: It looks like one puppy that you can have in 2 differerent poses .. I could be wrong, but could it be that you can change the pose by switching the front and back legs, angling the body down and maybe putting the tongue piece in? I'm excited to see the Toy Story Celebration train set now. I know it's going to be a simple build, but the concept is fun. What do we think the lineup will be? One that covered characters from all the movies would be cool as a true celebration, but I'm guessing we'll get something like Woody, Buzz, Jessie, Bo-Peep and maybe an alien. Mr Potato Head is no longer out of reach thanks to TLG collaborating with Hasbro now, but that‘s sadly still very unlikely. Classic Bo-Peep is probably the best we can hope for in terms of new minifigs! Quote

Jarreth2 Posted April 20 Posted April 20 Classic Bo Peep would be a welcome addition, the huge dress skirt mould would be ideal Quote

I am not really a fan of the buildables as well. On the one hand, I keep thinking it would have also been an opportunity for Lego to offer a minifig, a la Star Wars UCS. They could have made a 'minifig' similar to Pluto from the Mickey and Friends line, or Simba from that anniversary set. On the other hand, since they don't include minifigs, then I can just save my money. LOL Quote
BacktoBricks Posted April 20 Posted April 20 From one buildable to another ... Buildable Angel has now leaked. I'm sure some will love it, but compared to the last buildable leaked it's just a mess to me. The benefit of another 1000 pieces I suppose. Quote
Jarreth2 Posted April 20 Posted April 20 @BacktoBricks I agree with you that compared to the Dalmatian the Angel set isn't good, but when you put it side by side with the buildable Stitch they did they seem to go together pretty well ? Quote

Probably, but then again I don't have Stitch and I don't think that one looks great either. They do make a good pair though. Am I right in thinking the Dalmatian is basically a copy of Simba, but with a different head? If so, what other characters do we think might get the buildable treatment whilst they have this body model going on? An Aristocat like Marie maybe? Quote
Jarreth2 Posted April 21 Posted April 21 Oliver from Oliver & Company would be a good one, but I'm not sure the movie has enough popularity. Marie from the Ariistocats would be a good shout too. They could do a smaller set .. like they have done with Simba / Dalmatians with all three of them and then Marie for the larger one. Quote

Agent Kallus Posted April 22 Posted April 22 1 hour ago, hikouki said: Not really a fan of all these buildables. Are they selling well? That's a question seen across themes! I still like some them but I think most of use here can agree (across all standard system themes) that we prefer traditional sets. Quote
BacktoBricks Posted April 22 Posted April 22 (edited) Stinky Pete in the new Toy Story train would be appreciated as he's the only toy based on a human that hasn't been done with a normal Lego head rather than a mold. I don't think its going to happen, but ... Edited April 22 by BacktoBricks Quote

And honestly, they have improved a lot in the last years and especially the bigger Lion King and 101 Dalmatians puppy sets look really great, and I wouldn´t have a doubt that those are selling well. BrickBob Studpants Posted April 22 Posted April 22 15 hours ago, hikouki said: Not really a fan of all these buildables. Are they selling well? As @Black Falcon points out, they simply wouldn‘t create this many of them if they didn‘t sell. They have years worth of data across various themes and at different price points now, enough to make sound data-driven decisions. In essence, yes, they are ^^ Since the new dalmatian puppy‘s body is so similar to Simba‘s, I wonder if it was still Marcos Bessa‘s work. Maybe it’s the last set he worked on before leaving the company? Quote
OttoRiver Posted April 24 Posted April 24 Holy crap, a molded Mushu! Not looking forward to what he's going to cost over Bricklink Quote
