calebcold3 Posted April 13 Posted April 13 Is the upcoming Christmas Hulkbuster going to be a GWP or a regular set that you can buy at any store? Quote

They wouldn't do any explicitly religious sets, but they make sets based off Judeo-Christian culture and holidays, because, let's be real here, western culture is fundamentally based on Judeo-Christian values so there's not really a point to trying to avoid any mention of it. I think you’re over thinking it to be honest. Although prominent at Christmas, which for some is a religious holiday, Santa Claus is not a religious figure. Christmas is widely celebrated by atheists and for a lot of people is completely detached from religion, and is more about celebrating family, gift-giving, eating good food, and watching festive films. Easter is also a celebration that for some is completely detached from religion, and is focused on giving Easter Eggs and going egg hunting. Similarly, the Easter Bunny is not a religious figure. I think LEGO producing Christmas themed sets for the biggest gift-giving day of the year - a day that focuses role play and imagination for children - is exactly what LEGO should be doing. Quote

Punisher is one of the seven thousand characters rumored to be in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, so maybe we will get one. (Side note- I do hope this one happens, it would be nice to A: See ol' "no one dies" interact with "you hit 'em and they get back up I hit 'em and they stay down", to establish a baseline for this Peter before he gets corrupted by a symbiote, and B: because Punisher will immediately become Peter's surrogate father like with the girl in S2) 7 hours ago, RobbieHxC said: I think you’re over thinking it to be honest. I think LEGO producing Christmas themed sets for the biggest gift-giving day of the year - a day that focuses role play and imagination for children - is exactly what LEGO should be doing. We're saying essentially the same thing- that Christmas isn't currently a holiday in a solely religious context. What I directly said and you quoted me as saying was that Christmas sets aren't explicitly religious but based off Judeo-Christian Culture and values. You can't make the argument that Santa Claus-Saint Nick- isn't based off that culture, or that whatever you personally want it to mean, holidays like Christmas and Easter aren't derived from religious events, but at the same time, the holiday has become corporatized and genericized to the extent it's safe for lego to make sets off it. That was my point. In response to someone saying it was ironic that lego wouldn't make explicitly religious sets but was ok making "weapons of war", I was just pointing out that much as lego makes sets based off holidays that, genericized or not, are based in religion, they have no issue making fictional or historical military vehicles insomuch as they aren't modern day weapons. Lego wouldn't make the Nativity or a modern-day Abrams tank, but they have no issue making Christmas sets or fictional military vehicles. Edited April 13 by Mandalorianknight Quote
Scarilian Posted April 13 Posted April 13 Christmas has become widespread and while the name and event itself is derived from religion, Lego circumvents the risk of it being tied to the religious aspects by focusing on attributes that were latched onto the event over the years such as Santa Claus, Elves and generally the asthetic attributes as opposed to anything with a potential deeper meaning. You could probably call this Gingerbread Hulkbuster with Santa-Hat Tony Stark - or something along those lines. Personally, I'm fine with them doing something fun. I'm curious as to what size and form the Hulkbuster will take including the visual choices as that will be dependent if it's worth getting - also wondering if it means we'll get a non-Christmas Hulkbuster that's a pallet swap in 2026 1HY. mrcngrck Posted April 15 Posted April 15 We should see pictures of Peter's apartment and subway sets soon, shouldn't we? Quote

This year we’ve been seeing sets across all themes revealed just under a month before release. So the two August sets you mentioned will probably be revealed in early July, maybe late June. Of course, there’s always the odd pre-order set TLG will throw out there, which I could only see happening for the Subway set if it turns out to be 18+. Quote
CloneCommando99 Posted April 15 Posted April 15 Point of conversation: I think the next Marvel modular will be a corner seeing how the normal Modulars do one for every 2-3 normals. Any guesses on what could fit as a corner? Something spidey related would be my guess with the film next year. Quote

Throw in Spider-Noir and some of the characters missing from the CMF, maybe a new Daredevil variant too. Or they could throw a curveball and make another DC D2C let's say a Modular Ace Chemicals or something? I mean I'm sure both DC and Marvel will be getting D2Cs next year but I doubt they'll both get Minifigure scaled ones, maybe though. Quote

I honestly think Oscorp, even with the playset, is more likely than fisk tower. Especially with lego doubling up on Jango's Slave one. The issue is that Fisk tower is just an office building. The bugle at least is an iconic location- they went with a generic comic one, but the Raimi movies instilled the concept in people, and it's a classic comic staple to see JJJ screaming at his desk or spider-man webbing him up by the bugle. On the other hand, Vincent D'nofrio's Fisk, across all his projects, doesn't even have a Fisk Tower. It's not really tied to anyone but Fisk and DD, and even with DD I think Nelson and Murdock+Fogwell's Gym would do better as a D2C. With Oscorp, aside from being seen in multiple spider-man franchises and very well known in the comics, it can also be jam-packed with labs for all the different villain origins. 3 hours ago, CloneCommando99 said: Any guesses on what could fit as a corner? Ironically, the only one that I don't think could is one of the ones I've been wanting to see, which is an assembly square style combination of Marvel Knights locations (Nelson and Murdoch, the Midnight Mission, Punisher's hideout, etc). Scarilian Posted April 16 Posted April 16 By the same logic that we don't get Deadpool sets, I don't think we'd get MCU Daredevil. Violence and with the addition of swearing. As for hopeful things, the Harry Potter Book Nook has been revealed and it's fairly neat. I think they could do the Spider-man 2 train scene justice at that scale. Quote

Between all the F-bombs and one of the kills this episode, I think they thought if they made it gorier and more profane than the netflix show the writing would just automatically be better. It was not. Though I think if they're evidently comfortable dropping Deadpool in a secret wars set if his scenes in it aren't R-rated-lite or whatever the designer said, the same probably holds true for everyone else. It looks very good- and it seems I was right about it essentially being a set of bookends, if this holds true for the marvel one- maybe it really will be like this image: Quote

Maybe a set next year? Also, I have a theory on Doomsday and Brand New Day sets: I feel like the Doomsday sets will be 76330-76333 (these set numbers were not listed in the January 2026 set list) and the set numbers 76339 and 76340 are not listed either, and I feel like those two sets will be Brand New Day sets. brickbride Posted April 17 Posted April 17 According to a fateful source, several Marvel (and other) sets are getting price increases in the US. So far we have 76319-22 and 76324-5. European market's still up in the air. Quote
psqidexslizer Posted April 17 Posted April 17 (edited) Looks like prices for summer sets are going to be bumped up in the US. There’s a breakdown in the usual place, but it looks to be around a 5% increase. Edited April 17 by psqidexslizer Quote
Scarilian Posted April 17 Posted April 17 Sets were already too expensive, this is getting insane. Quote
THELEGOBATMAN Posted April 17 Posted April 17 Even the already insanely overpriced Oscorp is getting a price increase. Simply laughable. Quote
Agent Kallus Posted April 17 Posted April 17 Would be pretty annoying if it is across the board as Americans may well have voted for this but no-one else thought it was good idea!!! But it is affecting the global supply chain so I can understand that thinking practically it is likely to have impacts across the board. Quote
