Interesting to notice that the Hagrids Motorbike set is a different motorbike, than the one showed on the Insider-reward poster that you can buy with VIP-Points, despite every other poster show Old en Current Harry Potter sets.

They didn‘t want to spoil it I suppose  Curious to see what the actual pieces are to accomodate Hagrid standing there!

I imagine whoever designed that poster didn’t have access to the mold designers plans for the new motorcycle parts – presuming the new designs were even finished at the time the poster were made. I can understand Lego not showing the artist mid development new parts for a bit of promotional art like that.

Death Eaters somehow turning into mist in the movies is just an annoyance that makes no sense.

Exacerbated by the Wibbly Wobbly bridge. Millennium Bridge. It's in the name. Would it have been too hard to not focus a scene on it?

Once again HP sets bring nothing but joy to me. I'm so glad i decided to stick with HP in lego terms.

That bike and the Lovegood house are amazing sets. It's exactly "that old" feel of lego. Just playtime-oriented reasonable sets (i'm so glad they didn't turn the Lovegood house into an adult black box set!) that are compact and full of fun and look good as display pieces! Pretty sure they will be discounted as other HP-sets too!
It's crazy such a small set has an exclusive "bigfig" and a rare villain minifigures - even two of them (and a new broom!)!
HP-fans...we having it good, and it's happening right now! :pir-laugh:

Couldn‘t agree more! :sweet: To me, the quality has been up there ever since the theme got brought back, but this is a particularly good wave ^^ Sure, I‘m biased since there are two sets here I’ve wanted since 2010, one of which is even better than my lofty expectations for it (Hagrid‘s motorbike) and the other (Lovegood house) only has two small caveats. But even the others are great, creepy faces aside :snicker:

Looks like they‘re cooking next year in general  Maybe not so much with the upcoming smart brick stuff, but Marvel, DC, Minecraft, Speed Champions, and HP all have excellent 1HY waves!

Lovegood house is amazing. Can't believe it's taken us this long to finally get it.

Is this the first time the house points hourglasses were made in an official set?

And yes, where is Ron.

His exclusion in sets keeps getting brought up here but it's never surprised me. He's never been as popular as Harry and Hermione, who represent the male and female leads of the franchise. Ron comes across as expandable in comparison to them. His merch getting skipped out on seems to confirm that he doesn't sell as well as the other two. I remember reading some stats on which HP characters sold the most wands and Harry and Hermione were #1 and #2 and there were a bunch of other characters who sold more than Ron like Dumbledore, Voldemort, Luna, Draco, etc. When it comes to other HP toy brands, I've noticed they skip out on Ron there as well to focus on Harry, Hermione and other female characters so it's not just a Lego thing.

It is still a playset made for kids and when I look at the so called competition, their light kits are nothing for kids. They are way to fidly, often get in the way if you would really want to play with it and on the other side, they often look awfull to me because they are usually are way to bright - and lighten stuff where no source of light is even near. Not to mention that the price increase would surely not help to sell the set - and I doubt that kids would even care all that much about lighting.

I always found light bricks an annoying gimmick as a kid. I was always frustrated that I had to hold it the whole time and that if I did leave it on, it would die. I understand it in this set where it is just to make a play feature work and probably isn’t something you’d always want lit up unlike the fireplaces we’ve gotten before in this line. Regardless I’m surprised that brick still exists and still inflates the prices of sets. Its use case is very niche these days but yeah this set is one of the few where having a temporary light that requires constant attention does work.

As for the price increase of a proper light kit, my point wasn’t that this set required one but that other companies do a lot more with lights (and bricks fwiw) than Lego does and yet Lego is still vastly more expensive.

Also it’s interesting to see that the main characters are no longer on the box. Do we think this is to prepare for the streaming series and intentionally wiping away the original actors? Anyone know if this is just a Lego thing or a brand wide change?

Yeah and I'm excited about the next castle part with a possible chamber of secrets!
PS:
Started replaying that "Chamber of secrets" rpg-game from Game Boy Advance this Halloween and it made me remember how magical creatures were a significant part of HP back then.
I wonder why lego won't make some collectable HP-creatures looking at how popular the Pokemon franchise is right now. Maybe blind bags with brick built monsters like those from Mario series... Maybe they just forgot there are tons of monsters to collect and read description, and it can be a potential toy series...

I played that on PC when it was released. The spiders chasing you out of the forest was bad enough, but the ones that would drop down on you when unlocking secret areas was probably worse. Good times lol. :laugh_hard:

Haha yeah!
But it's just made me remember how Wizarding World basically has its own "Pokemon". wish somebody would make something cool and collectable out of that idea. Thos giant lego figures like that new Pixie is not quite that yet.

I'm guessing it's because the Fantastic Beasts movies didn't do too well. Then again, I think the consensus was that that was partly because people expected more beasts and creatures and less politics for plot, so people may warm towards a collectable creatures series more. That being said, the companies probably don't feel like they need to put that much effort in to sell stuff associated with the Wizarding World as the basic stuff sells well enough.

Yeahhhhh. The Dumbledore vs Grindelwald plot should’ve been its own movie, rather than awkwardly being shoehorned into the FB story. The two plots never properly meshed, so it really wasn’t a surprise when the whole thing fell apart in the end :shrug_oh_well:

Not sure how well collectable creatures would do, might be a bit too niche I’m afraid

We got a sketch of the Hospital Wing, so leakers have seen it but it must be an exclusive so they can’t drop pictures. It’s what I expected but hope it’s accidentally mirrored otherwise it doesn’t nearly connect to the Main Tower on the Fluffy side

Posted

I ended up selling my great hall as I don't have the space for this new Hogwarts in entirety (nor the budget). But I might get the hospital wing if the DADA classroom looks good as that's my favorite classroom.

So based on the sketch is this maybe meant to be part of the quad? Although with the tower on the right I’m guessing this is the inside part of it?

Looks like the miniature version of the main tower mirrored.... with an attachment point! Wander what it connects too?

Ok must attach like this! If we take the Architecture version of Hogwarts Castle its this section!

which would attach here....

My main problem with 2+ FB movies was that...it was oddly about anything else other than "Fantastic Beasts"... it was about all kinds of random characters but not about fantastic beasts like the first movie was. It felt like one of those hp-fanfics with lots of new original characters...
And the worst part is that I remember people liking the "step away from HP-monster movie" at first (saying they want something more adult oriented instead of "whimsical adventure with oversized pokemon") when the second film was announced... yeah it didn't end that well
(i did like the Jude Law as Dumbledore a lot, though, and old hogwarts parts...wish they could do something better with these actors and backgrounds)

Reading books about the creatures that inhabit the world of Hogwarts and imagining what they might look like is one of my best memories of enjoying this franchise in the past. I really enjoyed seeing how the designers depicted these creatures in the videogames. I wish we could see some lesser-known hp-monsters in LEGO.

Brick built Spider with roller skates for the Boggart scene is an excellent inclusion!

Yeah I really liked that they’ve done that. I’m excited to see the pics for this one as it does seem to be part of the Quad.

I think you are making a good point.

the short flat side of the Hospital Wing with its triangular side of the roof would continue on the Gryfindor overhang. And at that position both underground sections would be accessible.

Though I do wonder how they would connect the “terrace” part of the  Hospital Wing. It opens up towards the front, where the stone bridge will most likely eventually connect to the side of the Viaduct Entrance.

I will admit one downside of this wave's design is every major facade set has to include a rock base and so they all start to blend in together a little.

Yeah, I wonder where the greenhouses will be placed in the final, complete model, since they don´t include a underground section.Probably it will just be placed "down the hill" since I can´t imagine the big modul of the summer wave will have a place for it included.

If you look at the basic cartography from you can see the different elevations that Hogwarts stands on with the great hall and courtyard as well as the staircase tower and quad standing on cliffs and the large rear section standing on a large plateau...

Ignore the viaduct in this picture since it's obviously wrong!

It is not wrong, this is how viaduct looked in the last movie. Remember Hogwarts is a magical castle of which parts are constantly moving :)

My Son has bought the Great Hall at the weekend, and now wants to 'complete' the most 'detailed Hogwarts in history' but I'm struggling to find a definitive list of what is in this and what isn't......can anyone help with this so can help plan it and ensure he doesn't see sets retire that he then needs and the like. TIA
