The Big MC Posted April 22 Posted April 22 Won't be buying 2 as I've got more than enough hubs and remotes(6). Will probably design some more wagons for it or buy some from eBay when the "set splitters" get their hands on them. Also, update to dual motors, assuming it does not come with lights. I always think that LEGO trains are too short, and I don't think it costs them much more for another flatbed. Quote
R0Sch Posted April 22 Posted April 22 (edited) What bugs me most is the use of the same old PUp remote and train motor. Wasn't it supposed to be discontinued with the remote still being on 40% sale and the battery box/hub sold out month ago? Edited April 22 by R0Sch Quote

As far as I understand, the PoweredUp part retirement has been extended by +5 years, until 2030 at the least. Quote
zephyr1934 Posted April 22 Posted April 22 That totally looks like a throwback to 4559 or 4560 The new track parts look interesting. That seems un-lego like to make a dedicated track part just for a crossing, but a proper re-railer requires a smooth continuation on the outside of the rail so that a wheel that wandered outside the track can easily slide over the rail to get back in. The lever piece also looks like it might be interesting. Quote

Timorzelorzworz Posted April 25 Posted April 25 Whats the new two straight track pieces are? The new train set looks very promising. Quote
Mondo-TRON Posted April 25 Posted April 25 I'm glad there are new train sets, especially for motorized sets. However I'm not really into City trains. Maybe if it was a steam locomotive with three cars (not two). What I want is some kind of a fantasy themed train that can be easily motorized. I was hoping Dreamzzz would get a spooky/evil train. I could see those suppose trigger tracks being used. Quote

One anomoly is set 88005 (PUP lights) which it says has a new retirement date end of 2030, but is still marked as retired on lego.com, although it continues to be shipped as a part in non-retired sets. Are sets ever "unretired"? Quote

Yeah, sketches like that avoid the risk of watermarks or metadata that could track a leak to its source. I think the station looks good—it has some nice features like an elevator, a very fresh layout that's unlike any previous stations, and a design that seems to blend traditional features like a clocktower with more modern-looking features like a glass canopy over the café. Other than that there's not too much to discuss with so little info. Quote
The Big MC Posted April 26 Posted April 26 The train station will have to be something special for me to buy it, and the sketches don't impress me. I already own four stations, so a new one would have to be something else. Also hate how all stations are missing the fourth wall. Quote

Specifically, the small hub has only been extended to 2028 while the train motor has been extended to 2030. I bet whatever was envisioned to replace PU has been delayed. With the track coming out the middle of the build, the station has a similar form as the leaked image of 60473 City Tower. I wonder if they are designed to go back to back. The station is $90 and looks to be 2 stories while the tower $200 looks to be 3+ stores. Quote

No, take another look, you're referring to Small Hub Battery which is for the SPIKE Education small hub. The City Hub used in trains has a revised retirement date of 2030. Quote

CDM Posted April 30 Posted April 30 (edited) Official images leaked from a retailer. 2 cars and a locomotive, no third car. Rock falling function confirmed but not sure how exactly it functions, though it appears to be mechanical and not powered (lever and vertical axle visible). Arctic fox molds, Johnny Thunder with scarf. Main tunnel structure plus two side builds, (1) small cave (attaches to tunnel structure) and (1) outpost structure with small crane. Includes tracked vehicle w/ open cab and small cargo bed. Vehicle is carried by split level train base car, car also has a camera turret for some reason. Locomotive appears to be designed to accommodate 1 pair of led lights, unclear if they're included. Operable doors behind the battery box to reveal compartments (side compartments appear to hold minor greebling). Other new track piece appears to be a rerailer. My thoughts: I'm kinda underwhelmed. Over the years I've become less interested in the City trains and this appears to be no different. I'm glad the theme continues, it's just not for me lately. Looking forward to more Icons / Creator Expert level trains. With that said, I'm glad to see them do something different and I think a lot of people are going to like this, especially how it dovetails with the other arctic sets past, present, and future. RichardGoring Posted May 1 Posted May 1 The Marvel Spider-Man vs Doc Ock Subway Train Scene (76321) has leaked and it seems like a decent subway car. Not sure about any detail inside, but it's on proper wheels. 31167 Haunted Mansion from Creator 3 in 1 has a haunted train alt build, which is a nice attempt, but sadly looks pretty basic, and doesn't have wheels. Quote
Selander Posted May 1 Posted May 1 Rock falling function is probably connected to one of the new special track pieces, so immediately after the train has passed it, the rocks fall down... And one image do support a possibility for the continued use of PuP LED, as the locomotive's lights are lit up. Quote

Murdoch17 Posted May 1 Posted May 1 (edited) Picture of the Subway train in question, for those interested. (courtesy of Brickset) I want to buy one copy, then reverse engineer several more cars. I think the Chicago elevated cars (the 2200 series) they used in the film worked in trains consisting of four cars, but I'm not sure. Can anyone confirm how many would be used in a typical 'L' train? Thanks in advance! Edited May 1 by Murdoch17 Quote
Space78 Posted May 1 Posted May 1 Yeah, that one's not for me. Not seeing any uncommon parts or building techniques on the subway car, and I won't pay the higher price this will have for all the unwanted minifigs and Marvel license. Quote

No I would agree that it is not for me either, but still we get more of those Train parts (and b.t.w. this one is much, much better than the previous version set 4855 I think). Quote

I'd mostly look to the windows to justify getting it, the 1x2x3 regular window is new in light bluish gray, 1x2x2 airplane window hasn't been seen in LBG since the 4855, the 1x4x3 regular and 1x2x3 train window are just convenient to pick up a bunch at once. Between that, the 6x28 train base, 4 train wheels, and bogie plates, it's probably at least $25 in parts. And then you get some LBG/DBG bricks/tiles which is hard to go wrong with. So at half off it'd be a nice deal. Edited May 1 by Stereo Quote

Yeah, regular parts like windows usually make it to PAB even if they debut in licensed sets—it's mostly things like licensed character parts or specific props that don't. Quote
