I also think it looks really good. Although I also know that it's a strong blast of nostalgia that's driving it, it doesn't really matter, as seeing the set has brought a huge smile to my face and I'm looking forward to building it and introducing my children to the movie. The price is a bit steep, but in comparison with the Black Pearl, probably to be expected.

The set has been revealed. More pictures are out. I really like that skeleton pirate. And that yellow college [?] jacket looks cool. (I never saw the movie.)

The thought just ocurred to me. @Mister Phes, do ye think this whole build could be modified into a proper galleon?

Aye Jack, that it could, and you're just the pirate ship building engineer to do that! :steve:

Thank ye for thinking so higly of me! If I had additional funds, perhaps... :pir-sceptic:

What do others think about this idea? I believe that @Murdoch17 could be tempted by it. :pir-devil:

Sorry, but nope @Jack Sassy. I still have the Durmstrang ship x2 MOD / galleon by @Wurger49 to build that I've been working on for a year or so... (I have all the parts, but none of the willpower it as it's very daunting for me to build ships!)

I know what ye mean. A shame, but all is good. Perhaps someone else will undertake this daring task.

So on a whim I decided to try the Minifigure Factory "design a minifigure" feature today... I tried to do it awhile back but all the Pirate torso options were mysteriously gone. But today not only do they have Pirate options available once again, there's a whole range of nice Goonies torsos and decorations! Might check it out if you like the film; I don't know how long these last for.

Is the deceased pirate captain's torso there too? That seems useful, though not for me, as the closest LEGO store might just be in Poland. :pir-grin::pir-bawling:

Sorry, no, they're not the torso designs from the set, but a range of Goonies t-shirts and such. I'm not a super fan of the movie, but a lot of them have some fun uses of classic swords, skulls, flames, etc. Very cool for fans of the movie, but not so useful for Pirate builders. They do have some neat decorations like the compass element, etc, that you can put on torsos to customize them too. I was surprised to find this cool looking design that I don't recognize from other sets, I think it's a Halloween exclusive, but it will very useful as a civilian Pirate minifigure. That's the one I ended up going with; I'll post a picture when it arrives!
