Meaf Posted May 2 Posted May 2 New sets look pretty good, but honestly none of them stand out that much to me aside from the Legends stuff and the Bounty. I guess that's bound to happen with how long the theme has gone for, but I'd have liked some kind of vehicle or base for the antagonists. Also disappointed that Zane is only in the Bounty, but I guess I can just buy him separately (if I had the money I'd buy it but that's a lot for a set I'm not head over heels for). Quote
mantax Posted May 2 Posted May 2 Overall I'd say that this set wave is mostly great, but it still has some problems. The best set here for me is Lloyd's jet mech, as it might just be a perfect Ninjago set. There's just so much good things to be said about it: 1. It's got a transforming feature that changes the build quite a lot. 2. this is the first jet for Lloyd .3 the minifigures here are all great 4. the 2 side builds are much larger then I expected, and especially the dragon here is great. So this set is definitely a must have for me. I wasn't too sure on what to think about Rogue's mech dragon, but after seeing more images and the in-hand video I might be sold on it. The mech is the best part for me, as it's got plenty of neat accesories on the body that make it stand out in a good way(especially the cape which was a surprise, as it wasn't shown on the first leaked image) All the minifigures here are great, but only 4 seems too little for the price. I really wasn't a fan of Rontu from the first image, and my opinion on it hasn't changed after the official reveal. The combat vehicle looks great, even when all of the builds are seperated. But the price is just way too much, as well as the minifigures aren't too interesting, except Frak, but I bet he will be the exact same in the next wave. So it's a skip for me. I don't really have much to say about the smallest sets, but they are just fine. The Bounty is absolutely gorgeous, I love how much interior there is in it. But I just don't have the budget, or space for it. Also the number of minifigures here is low, and I only really care about half of them, So I'd pass on this. I don't care anout the Guardion dragon, which does look amazing, but that is really the only thing it does. But the Fire Knight mech on the other hand feels quite neat. It's got the standard poseability for a large Ninjago mech, so that's great. However even on that platform it's smaller then nearly all large Ninjago mechs. The piece of terrain included with it is really nice, as it also would be nice for displaying other minifigures or stuff. The only problem for me is the price, so I'd just wait for a fine deal for it, and then I'd definitelly get it, as it's a must have for me, and the only problem that I've got with it is the price Quote

The animation is pretty cool and it might just be that I'm too familiar with the black, white and blood red comics but this feels like it's aimed more at teens or young adults than the kids the main show is meant for? It is meant for older audiences that why the sets are for display and show seems to be more serious Quote
Lyichir Posted May 3 Posted May 3 (edited) I'm loving the design of the Temple Bounty. I've started trying to reverse engineer it on Stud.io and while I certainly can't figure out everything from the provided pictures, I can tell that it's big, has a lot of interior space, and fits together quite elegantly. I'm always a sucker for great ship designs, especially ones with brick-built hulls, and this one does not seem to disappoint. Can't wait to see reviews so I can see some of the spaces that haven't been shown clearly. EDIT: You can get glimpses of areas under the forward and rear decks in the lifestyle videos, showing that it's not just empty space! Looks like a small dojo/training area in the front, and the rear has hammocks which are a very nice feature! Edited May 5 by Lyichir Quote
hikouki Posted May 3 Posted May 3 As an in-house theme, I wonder how much longer Ninjago will last, given MK's demise. I also wonder which set between Ninjago and Dreamzzz is more popular. Quote

Dreamzzz is set to end next year, and its sets have gotten heavy discounts in recent waves. I don’t think that the theme is inherently worse, but I do think it’s selling worse due to a number of reasons (unknown to us). The summer wave looks great! The dragonians in this color scheme have really grown on me. They’re unique among an ever-growing list of Ninjago factions. The ninja designs are actually a weak point for me. I love the new armor, but the rest of the figs feel pretty generic. The Temple Bounty is beautiful and huge! I do wish the minifigure lineup were a bit more filled out. And it would have been awesome to get the rumored “dark bounty” to really set this apart. But I like the interior, the dragon, even the controversial sails. The Legends sets also look very cool. I’m still not sold on the dragon (why does it need to be a statue?) but it does look beautiful. The Fire Knight Mech at least can act as a regular mech, but (as always) I wish it were an official Titan mech. The Combat vehicle is interesting but not enough for a $100 purchase. Hoping Frak appears elsewhere, even without printed eyes. The mech rider dragon is a fun concept but looks a little wonky. Rontu is fine and if I end up buying Egalt this year I’ll probably pick up both. Overall, not the best wave, but there are enough standouts in here to keep me interested! Quote

I also wonder which set between Ninjago and Dreamzzz is more popular. I don't really see why MK's end would impact Ninjago negatively. Monkie Kid is presumably ending because its popularity was waning, but that doesn't really say anything about Ninjago's own popularity. If anything, it's one less theme that Ninjago is competing for attention from (granted, MK's status as a limited release theme outside of Asia means it was likely never very significant competition with Ninjago in most markets). As for Dreamzzz, current rumors suggest it will be ending after next year's first wave—which would amount to a three-year lifespan, about on par with past "Big Bang" themes like Chima and Nexo Knights that were successful but not as overwhelmingly so as Ninjago has proven to be. In any case, I don't think either theme ending makes Ninjago more likely to end suddenly. Nor does it mean that in-house themes as a whole are unsuccessful or going away—I'm sure Lego already has new themes in the works to replace those outgoing themes, much like they have when previous in-house themes have ended. I can see the Ninjago City subtheme continuing to crank out sets every couple of years. My hope is with Njnjago City / Docks / Gardens having retired ages ago, we’re due for a new ‘centrepiece’ expansion on the same level as the original Ninjago City eventually. Seeing the Temple Bounty from more angles, that set is definitely on my must-buy list now. It certainly looks like the Bounty with the most interior we’ve ever gotten. Quote
Agent Kallus Posted May 13 Posted May 13 Kai from the spinner will be in the magazine, he's not too exciting but something fun is that they've given him one of those tournament arena /temple city golden dragon statues as an accessory. Quote
Lyichir Posted May 19 Posted May 19 Video reviews of the new sets are starting to come out. Most exciting to me is the better look at the interior of the Temple Bounty, including plenty of easter eggs (including a "Ninpla" box of Kai's Climber Mech like the ones from the Ninjago City Workshops, and lots of stickered details on the walls). I do feel like, as great as the interior is, it's a little bit of a shame that only two hammocks are included, but of course compromises have to be made even for a ship as sizeable as this one. Very much looking forward to this set—I passed on the last Bounty, but this one truly feels like something special. Quote

I find the “old” one more appealing in terms of design, but I'm happy for two Ninjago ships between the city buildings. Especially because this bounty has a few details that might not appear so at first glance. But the green dragon and Kai's mech are also pretty great sets. Quote
TeriXeri Posted May 20 Posted May 20 (edited) 2025 sets look interesting for sure, as someone who was interested in Nexo Knights, those dragon figures and a set like 71836 Arc Dragon of Focus reminds me of the 2017 Nexo Lighting Jestro colours. Overall direction of the theme is just consistent through the years, and especially recently does still feel varied , with a mix between dragons, mechs and vehicles, there's a lot of choice. especially with added characters like Arin, Sora, Wyldfyre Not everything is super color-coded either, in hindsight, Nexo suffered from a lot of forced "each knight needs to have a vehicle", and thus ended up with very few location sets. Also Ninjago clearly shows it's for all ages, with products ranging from 4+ to 14+ sets. As for Monkie Kid and Dreamzzz, I think there probably will be some Action theme for late 2026 / early 2027 to "replace" something, but Ninjago looks strong and evergreen right now, even if the Dragon Rising might change up for something else (I don't follow the story) Overall, Ninjago has had a lot of dragon heads, wings and figures over the years, I think the real miss will come like 5 years after it's gone, like I remember Elves getting a lot of discussion after it retired as a theme that was overlooked. (Personally I also overlooked it) Edited May 20 by TeriXeri Quote

But they've already confirmed that they plan to continue after Dragons rising. And I'm sure the that planned live action movie will gets sets which will be weird. Quote
neithan Posted May 22 Posted May 22 I really like the bounty, but not many minifigs and not one of them feeals appealing. And since Minifigs at least push me for about 50% to buy a (Ninjago) Set, I will skip the Bounty. But nonetheless another great wave! I have already built the Arc Dragon and Thunderfang, what a cool Dragon! And I want to collect all of the Forbidden Five - the First of June and I will buy the Sets with the remaining Figs, fortunaly they can be purchased with a nice Discount at launch.^^ Quote
mantax Posted May 30 Posted May 30 The next magazine will include Storm suit Lloyd. Thanks to the march wave he is quite common now. But both of the march Dragons are on the more expensive side, and another Lloyd car or especially the 4+ I don't see being too interesting for most fans. So I'd say that overall this is a solid inclusion. I only find it weird that this is going to be the 5th s3 magazine, but we didn't get any villains yet. Quote
AD_Bricks Posted May 31 Posted May 31 The June sets have started showing up in retailers now, and there are already a bunch of great day 1 discounts depending on where you go (in Australia at least). BigW has the AU$300 Temple Bounty for $250, and Kmart has it for only $199! $100 off before it's even officially released! Quote
Takanuinuva Posted June 1 Posted June 1 (edited) Weren't the Summer Sets supposed to be out in June? I'm on the Canadian site for Lego.com and the release date is listed as August. Same for USA. Yet available to buy in Denmark and other overseas locations. Granted it's not June 1st in my timezone so that might change tomorrow. But very odd if they got delayed for North America Edited June 1 by Takanuinuva Quote
Meaf Posted June 1 Posted June 1 I just checked, they're available on the Lego site and Amazon in the US now. Quote
Agent Kallus Posted June 6 Posted June 6 The problem with focusing too heavily of hero vehicles is that it makes the waves more monotonous. The villains are generally where we get variety from! Now don't get me wrong, Dragons rising has incredible builds and the writing of the show is the best it's ever been but I feel like the 11 minute era did manage to make sets where they felt more specific to the waves they were from, with more unique approaches to core Ninjago tropes. I mean master of the mountain, seabound and prime empire all had a unique stylistic take on things like dragons, and vehicles ( with master of mountain leaning in the Fantasy side and having a non-dragon steed instead if another vehicle!). Now as I say I do still like the current sets and the execution of them is flawless but I would like to see some more unique and specific stuff (and yes more villain sets would be good!) Quote

At some point, LEGO decided that what kids want are ninja mechs, jets, bikes, and dragons. And I think that makes sense, children love colorful vehicles for their favorite characters from TV. Not to mention that the target age for most of these sets is younger than the theme itself. We adults may have ten Kai mechs, but each one is the first for a new set of kids. It’s a shame because I think we’d all love to see more villain-oriented sets. I was really hoping for the rumored “dark bounty,” fingers crossed we’ll get that eventually. Maybe if LEGO continues making Ninjago sets for an older audience we’ll see more diversity (but maybe not, seeing as the first two Legends sets are a green dragon and a Kai mech). Quote

FinlayTheFaithful Posted June 15 Posted June 15 I... actually like the sound of these straight away, the dragon mech and the transformer car have my interest the most Quote
AD_Bricks Posted June 15 Posted June 15 The description of some of the minfigs that came with the list also seemingly confirms that those images of a few 2026 figures that we got ages ago were somehow real, which is pretty interesting. Based on those pictures, the dragon ninja reusing the dragonian wings is interesting, but they do have a new looking tail piece. The hoods also look really good, significantly better than the golden dragon versions from crystalised. The green monster villain that's next to the brown-hooded villain figure uses the Rogue/Rox/Kur hat in dark brown, which I'll probably switch out on Rox once it releases as I think hers should have been darker to more closely match the show and to distinguish her more from Kur so that all of the 5's hats are different. Quote
mantax Posted June 15 Posted June 15 We did also get a description for 71859, the dragon is nature themed with tree branches for horns, and leaves on the wings. Includes 8 minifigures: Dragon Cole, Lloyd, Green villain, Hooded villain, Purple Snake, Sora, Zane, and Arin. This is one of the better sounding sets lists in a while. It's great that they are continuing the $10 mech battle packs, and that we get another transforming vehicle. I'm the most interested in the Life Dragon so far(and that could easly change as it's the only one to have a description), since you get most of the new villains there, plus Sora and Arin for who I try to get every suit. Now there are definitely 2 versions of the Ninja in these sets, with the regular suits, and the special dragon versions. I expect all of the 6 original ninja to get them except Jay, but I'm not too sure about that, as he isn't called Rogue anymore in the set names. The anniversary sets also sound great. I don't really see just the Blacksmith shop being $90, so it would be really neat if we got one of the skull vehicles with it. 71861 The Old Town I think could be that J village(I don't know how to spell it) where the ninja first fought against the Hypnobrai.
