icm Posted July 7 Posted July 7 (edited) For what it's worth, LKC is very different in its plan and features from any previous Lion Knights-associated castle in the eighties or nineties, and MTS is very different in the building choices and architecture than the Medieval Market Village it's usually compared to. Neither LKC nor MTS is a direct remake like the Galaxy Explorer, Blacktron Renegade, Blacktron Cruiser, Eldorado Fortress, Forest Hideout, or Majisto's Workshop. Edited July 7 by icm Quote
RichardGoring Posted July 8 Posted July 8 In the US, Amazon is doing a Prime 'day' (now spread out over four days, which must make it four times as good) and so lots of retailers are responding, including LEGO. Walmart has the MTS for $180 ($50/21% off). If it's still available, it's tempting to get as a second copy for MOCs. Or, more likely, an alt build from Rebrickable. Quote

Nobody says that LKC is a direct remake. Its a rathewr homage to the OG sets from late 80´s and early 90´s. After all you can watch the interview with set designers... Quote

Darn. In Castle-related news, the recent Sleeping Beauty castle with the Maleficent dragon is on sale for $26.75 now at Walmart (USA). I can probably sell off the minidolls and castle for $20-25 and get a cheap dragon. Quote

Since I never like the remakes that are too faithful to their original versions like Blacktron spaceship, Forestmen’s Hideout, etc. I need to decide if I would buy both LKC and MTS before they are retired. Yeah, both of those are fully original designs (even though they hearken back to classic factions). For LKC in particular that means it can do fun things with angles for the layout compared to the mostly rectangular layouts of classic castle sets—I'd highly recommend it. Quote
iragm Posted July 8 Posted July 8 12 hours ago, RichardGoring said: which must make it four times as good I agree...the Prime day sales are a joke. I bought MTS on launch day and got 10% back through Capital One Shopping. Sold the minifigures and goat for ~$150 total after eBay fees, then re bought them (less the capes and sadly the dark red dress) from PAB for ~$20 once they were available. I want to say I got a GWP with this and sold that for another $15-20, too. It's a stupid game, but can be played without too much trouble once you get used to playing it and it seems to be the best way to get reasonably priced bricks. Quote

Still it has its flaws, but it is engaging to make small changes here and there (I updated all panel walls and replaced them with brickbuilt ones, changed the tudor style house and made some furniture etc.). Mountain Fortress is also the only BDP set I bought so far. I actually like the panel walls here and there. It gives the castle a nostalgic vibe. The only thing I changed are the roofs. I put black tiles on it. Don't like stud roofs. Interior for me is perfect as it is. It is not as detailed and warm as the LKC but that’s the purpose. It's a cold harsh castle in the North... The real North... Quote
Triceron Posted July 10 Posted July 10 Man, I'm not finding any deals on MTS in Canada. So jealous of those US deals. If only tariffs weren't a thing.... Quote

Mr. Elijah Timms Posted July 17 Posted July 17 15 hours ago, DonQuixote said: Is that a sticker on his torso? Zoth33 is correct, it’s from the Minfigure Factory feature on Lego.com. They’ve actually updated their torso offerings with multiple versions of both the Krakens and Griffins sigils. I made a Griffin one as well, I’ll share it when I get a chance. all told, you can see the downside to this process fairly evidently— the torso prints are a process 4 color print on the torso, which isn’t nearly as crisp or clean as the spot color printing that usually goes on figs. Plus the registration wasn’t great on either, meaning a sliver of the white actually shows up on the edge of the piece and takes away from the overall look. Most of all, it’s an all white torso, with white arms too, so it does lose some authenticity standing next to one of the kraken figs with his dark blue green (turquoise) base torso piece. the upside is it’s kind of nice to have an alternate version of the new factions. You can also customize them and experiment, so I actually created two designs on each fig, front and back, and chose the one that looks best, hiding the backside design with capes. And perhaps it’s a good sign that Lego is going all in with the new factions here so early, hopefully a sign that we’re going to see more of them!? Quote
DonQuixote Posted August 1 Posted August 1 (edited) I recieved the new Creator castle today! The white prints on the legs are excellent! So complaining about bad prints on the minifigs in the new Eldorado Fortress and giving it a bad review, does work after all! Good job Lego! A premium product deserves good prints Edited August 1 by DonQuixote Quote

Or, as I like to think of it, ten goats. Which would be more effective? The siege tower or ten goats stacked on top of each other? Well, I started building this from my Pick a Brick order and realized that I messed up and skipped a load of stages when I was compiling parts. Sigh. Total cost for the siege tower (without figures or shields) is $63.95. Quote

DonQuixote Posted August 2 Posted August 2 The buildable horses are actually interesting to build. The drawbridge is far worse then the previous creator castle. It doesn't really fully close the gate. Enemies can crawl over it because there is a huge gap. The mechanism doesn't work as well. The minifigs are fantastic like I earlier said with excellent white printing. Quote
