LL1982 Posted June 9 Posted June 9 Going slower than I would expect. Plenty of time to make an order. Quote
JGW3000 Posted June 9 Posted June 9 Ordered two, not sure to display them front/back or perhaps build a B unit. I may have missed it, is there a link or location to the B unit instructions? Quote

Yeah, but did they not upscale that after many people complained the scalpers took all in the first hour and that second hand pricing was crazy. Quote

Still not sure I'm even going to get one. 3,000 was always the MINIMUM required for a set to go into production, but the MAXIMUM number for the early sets was 10,000, which they upped to 30,000. From Series 3 or 4 onwards (I can't remember which), they start off with a max of 30,000, and up the number if it gets popular. For example some Series 6 sets were upped to 50,000. But 3,000 remains the minimum preorders for sets to go into production - if they don't hit that, then they're never made. Quote
Mr Hobbles Posted June 9 Posted June 9 (edited) Looking at one of the reviews on YouTube, one of the things I really like is the sticker sheet. Four sets of numbers are included, so you can have four uniquely numbered locomotives. Also four of the Lego Train logos are included in blue, even though the A unit only requires two. This means if you're building a B unit, then you have enough stickers for 2 on each end. This was thoughtful on Lego's (and the designers) part. Edited June 9 by Mr Hobbles Quote

There are stickers for the B Unit with the main set. I think the B Unit uses about 200 extra pieces on top of the set and the best way was to buy an extra set to make it as that would also support him. Quote

Narissis Posted June 10 Posted June 10 The only problem with being able to uniquely number four locomotives or buying two copies to build a B unit (assuming you also want an A unit to go with it) is the purchase limit of 2 sets per household! Quote

Yes... I have a friend buying two more on my behalf. :D My aim is to build a A-B-B-A combo. Edited June 10 by Mr Hobbles Quote

Vilhelm22 Posted June 11 Posted June 11 Do BDP set instructions go public like the normal set instructions are available on the LEGO website, or do you only have access if you build the set? I’m not fussed about actually buying this set, but I’m planning on building a Great Northern Railway EMD F7 A-B-B-A set and haven’t decided whether I like this or Tony Sava’s design (you can buy the instructions online) more. Share pics when it's done! I will do! I'll be ordering the additional parts long before it arrives. Bricklink already posted a video showing an A-B pair and it looks awesome. In all honestly the locomotives are bigger than I anticipated (not just in width, which I expected, but height also), so it'll be a fairly long train even without any wagons or cars. Ferro-Friki Posted June 11 Posted June 11 (edited) So, I’d finally decided to preorder the Brick Railroad Locomotive, and I was quite excited. It's been a long time since I last bought a Lego set. But when I was filling in the delivery details the country box was locked in France and wouldn’t let me change it. After a quick search I found out that they don’t ship to many countries because of “tax regulations”. I had no idea about this, I’m very disappointed. Come on, Spain’s in the EU it can’t be that different. I guess I’m missing out on this set… You guys have fun with it. I just hope they let me preorder the Sakura Express if it makes the cut :( Edited June 11 by Ferro-Friki Not true, I'm just stupid Quote

Hang on a minute, you’re the designer! Hahahah I think you made an amazing job, it’s one of the best high-speed trains I’ve seen made out of Lego. I really want one for myself. Good luck with the review process, I hope they approve your train. And if they do… talk to whoever you need to so that they let me buy it! Quote

LL1982 Posted June 11 Posted June 11 Finally a reviewer that shows it running. Double L motor, bit more than I expected. But she does pull a good load. Quote

It turns out that accessing the Lego website from the BDP preorder link somehow overwrote my region to France and wouldn't let me change it at the checkout page, despite both websites already knowing my location. Who would have thought! Turns out I will be getting my locomotive after all :) I should learn to double check this stuff before complaining on EB... Edited June 11 by Ferro-Friki Quote

According to the designer, it works with either the L Motor or the Train Motor, and can run with either one or two of each. Just depends on how much pulling power and control you want Quote
CDM Posted Friday at 01:09 AM Posted Friday at 01:09 AM (edited) I just placed two Bricklink orders and managed to get he vast majority of the necessary add-on parts. Buying all new pieces and shipping from US stores I got 95% of the parts for $38.xx and $19.xx shipped. Not terrible. I don't plan on motorizing so i won't have those expenses. Side note: some of these BL stores always make me laugh with absolutely ridiculous pricing. Just bonkers stuff. Edited Friday at 01:10 AM by CDM Quote
