I don't know, I like this change. Maybe because I like changes in general, but I find the new UI more or less as good as the previous one.

The stats are a really cool feature too.

I'm fully on the "it gets folded into Icons" train. All they do are adult-oriented sets based on the older movies anyway. I honestly believe the 4+ sets are the only reason it hasn't been yet.

Listen, I get this is a small thing in the grand scheme of LEGO DC megabluck ups but it annoys me. The old Batman cowls pretty much always looked better than the dual moulded ones with the obvious exception of the shirt eared cowl due to the never accurate skin tones BUT the one undisputed benefit of the switch over should have been we were no longer stuck with the same head being used for every single version of Batman.  However in our third year of it The exact same Star Wars Resistance head has been used for Keaton and Bale when it looks like neither. Like even without using new prints there are better generic ones for them.

It’s sad that Lego won’t even put forth the effort to swap out one generic Caucasian male head for another generic Caucasian male head that looks a bit more like the actor. Lego truly hates DC.

As long as the off-brand Deadpool is called Swordy-guns-guy, I’m in. (Alternatively, rename Silver Samuari to Chrome-Swordy, but that’s clearly too much of a stretch.)

 

Meanwhile, I nearly went insane realizing that Leia is nowhere to be found in a set under $600. The only thing that kept me from true insanity was the Young Leia minifig in the Droid Factory set—a set and figure for which I couldn’t care any less than I do. Now, though, I see the light: it includes zero clones, it’s a set designed for play, and it includes the only minifig of Leia in an official non-retired LEGO set at the moment— the Buildable Droids and Creative Play is our savior.

Buildable figures are dead, though, so they can't keep it alive anymore. I'd also hazard a guess that with the batman and soup mechs out, if DC doesn't start expanding back out, they don't have any more mechs to make. Even the Jonkler hasn't gotten any builds to himself outside 4+ since 2020.

You've singlehandedly shattered my sense of self with those observations about what I have always considered one of the dumbest lego star wars sets. I still do, but it causes me to add patch notes to my criteria and terms:

In the future when I saw "playset" I mean standard system set (I think I generally say system set anyway, even though everything's technically system). Something minifigure compatible. Similarly, "including main characters" is now stipulated as "includes popular versions of main characters".

IDK, I feel buildable figures for licences is gonna be tried again in time, they've been trying to make them happen pretty consistently since 2012 with only a four year gap between the death of Constraction and trying again. I think it's one of those types of sets LEGO really wants to catch on. 

And yeah, mechs are dependent on DC's Future success, tbf we've gotten one a year so far, twice isn't enough to call it a pattern but I wouldn't be surprised if someone got one next year.

Also the Jonkler hasn't had any builds to himself since 2020 outside 4+ because until this year's mechs 4+ was the only place for something outside movie Batvehicles and large gimmick sets

Sinestro has been cast for the Lanterns TV series. This is great news for anyone who owns one of his two existing figures as we will not be getting another one anytime soon.

I still can't wait for this show to either immediately kill Hal or turn him evil and then everyone talks about how brilliant of a twist it is despite how often they've done it to the poor man. 

Regardless though, even a single mech with Jon would be cool, which is how we know it won't happen.

I mean they did it in the comics once and a crappy animated movie. We've spent a while with all of Geoff John's old favourites being the main versions of these characters, screwing over most of the legacy characters. Like Kyle is probably never gonna be adapted again and Wally would have the same fate if Barry wasn't tied to so many flops. I'm fine with them being rested for awhile. They're just gonna be recentered later anyways, Hal was the main Green Lantern for pretty much most of the character's history, law of averages whoever's in charge of the next time the series is adapted will be nostalgic for him and that's always what makes most decisions like this.

Anyways DC isn't Marvel so the brand synergy isn't gonna get to him in the same way it would over there

Wow. I’ve only been gone a week. But it’s nice to be wanted.

I was planning on maintaining radio silence until we finally got some good set news, but I’ll guess the confirmation of RTG set instead of another clone set will have to do.

Though I did get kidnapped by the brotherhood of Turtle on Wednesday who attempted to sacrifice me to allow Turtle’s return. Luckily the Justice Society of Kamino came to my rescue (more on that later)

It’s great to be back. May the Jonkling continue.

I think it’s a decent casting. My personal fancast was Luke Evans. But hopefully James Gunn has the balls to cast Danny Devito as the Guardians.

It would be more acceptable if it led to Kyle Rayner and Jessica Cruz being buddy cops in Season 2 or 3. But yeah, I’m prepared for John to steal Kyle’s storyline, again.

Because Clone Bros still buy 20 copies of everything they cry about, those channels are massive too by LEGO standards. They rile up their fanbase of 12 year olds sure, but them and their fans still buy all the shit. The big negative side effect is the community is overrun with annoying people and that's our problem not LEGO's

I refuse to believe that the clone bro youtubers make up a statistically relevant number of sales. Combined with their followers they might, but most of their followers don't have the income or space to sustain these sales. It worked fine when it was a few sets a year, but now that almost every playset this year is clone/clone wars based (And seriously, I've seen people say they're going to army build the $70 ARC-170. How. Why.), I can't imagine the clone bros will be able to keep up the pressure. What's unfortunate is that set dev times are too long for lego to fix this in 2026, so we just have to hope they already have TMAG stuff in the works or something if we want to escape a second year of total clone domination.

Yup. Honestly my expectations for DCU lanterns were already lowered when I watched them cast the perfect Hal and then go "he's Guy Gardner and he's gonna wear a stupid wig, haha"
