Technic cars don't wear the speed champions banner

 

I don’t think it’s too bad personally, although I don’t particularly like it as a banner, but it makes sense to tie together all the space stuff coming this year.

But also a six years old kid see that it's a space/sci-fi set, Lego don't need to put a banner, like they don't put an animal/wild banner in forest sets, as they don't put a farm banner in tractor sets

The banner doesn't bother me much either. Instead of making an entire NASA theme, Lego splits it into various Lego themes such as City and Technic. The banner just shows that said sets are licensed by NASA. That's all! Just like if they were do a COPS banner for Police sets or a US Coast Guard, Marines or Navy banner for any Nautical themed sets.

It is possible that Freinds, Icons and CMF Sereis will have that banner but we will see.

It's much easier and cheaper to put a Space logo on boxes, instead of making an entirely new theme called Space.

Especially when it contains sets from all sorts of themes like Technic, City, and likely even CMF, Classic, Creator and Friends might use the same logo on the boxes of their space related sets for 2024.

It's actually unrelated to Nasa this time around, but LEGO's own Space logo.

The main relation to Nasa is likely renewed interest with the 2024/2025 moon missions.

Nasa branding still happens, on a per-set basis, it was on boxes of 2019 and 2022 City sets for example, alongside a video campaign explaining the artemis mission via LEGO figures telling it.

Sometimes it's  even on the sets themselves in case of the 2022 City space rocket, but even that subtheme used the LEGO space logo as well in most cases.

As for technic, 2023 has the recently released 42158: NASA Mars Rover Perseverance, which is based on real life rover, and then 2023 has an unlicensed rover with 42180: Mars Crew Exploration Rover (inspired by Nasa is still on the box, but the space logo's on the box and stickers on the set are LEGO's)

Also interesting how some of those Technic sets have the same sized airlock modules that would fit on the City space theme modules from 2019, 2022 and 2024, so technically some of it is somewhat minifig compatibile, even in the same orange color.

Not saying they are meant to be collected together , but they can be used as such it looks like, to expand things if you have the sets already.

I saw those and I actually think those are nice. I love the new martian molds too! Glad those minifigures are actual spacemen and not aliens. However, I'm going to pass this entire lineup up as my town is based on reality and logic. But those are good for little children though. I can tell for some of those sets, they got influence from the Lightyear movie!

I think there will be a lot of people who like and dislike it. I'm also a realist, so I don't really like this space series.

I see some references to classic space also - and with this number of sets, they could have just made a new space wave outside of the city brand IMO. 

The Spaceship that leaked before looks good on the better images, but I don´t like the 4+ one that much. Anyways thoses sets look way more like space than most of the sets we got in the past fear years (of course excluding Galaxy Explorer and Blacktron GWP)

I will declare an alien invasion on your town…. Lol I just don’t care how realistic my city is, I throw dinosaurs in it, I throw ghosts in it, I throw ninjas in it, now i will throw aliens and robots in it!

Being a car lover, I've got to say that along with the burger truck, my favorite sets are the racing sets. Sorry, @Lion King, they aren't 2k Drive. They're just generic racing sets. So you've lost the bet. Where's my money?

Completely agreed. I am a city builder, but I like to think of my city as being primarily a backdrop for the ‘interesting stories’ like superheroes and ghosts and etcetera.

I like these space sets, but I don’t think I’ll get any of them; they just aren’t what I need. The ‘Great Vehicles’, as usual, are not so great. Hope there are some buildings coming.

Those new vehicle sets look great, City has been doing very well on the small vehicle sets, especially 2023, and 2024 looks to continue that.

I love how the Go karts use the same scale as the original Town racing theme as well.

Road Roller isn't a 4+, and looks fine  ,

Burger Truck is a nice food truck variant and  cool parts usage, and sesame seed bun print, and the flames are pretty cool, including the torso.

Race Car and truck make a cool playset and doubles as transporter,

Sailboat comes with a dolphin.

And even the 4+ race car will go well with 60322: Race Car, color scheme is basicly reversed. 

Hopefully most of those decals are prints.

 

Space sets look fantastic, even the circular space station looks much better in detail, the ring isn't as bad, as it comes with 8 modules to fill it up (4 interior , 1 solar panel, 1 docking platform, 1 greenhouse, 1 shuttle)

The big 8 wheel rover reminds me of one of my favorite Nexo Knight set Axl Tower Carrier, but this is actually Space, and looks good.

Space Base really has a 1999 Space Port vibem, in a good way, with the launch pad and glass windows. (set 6455: Space Simulation Station)

I love all of these! It also looks like a number of the patterned elements are prints rather than stickers! 
I count seven astronaut variants: Orange, blue, green, dark blue, dark green, reddish orange, commander. Unfortunately, the commander/pimp does not have printed legs.

Prison island set looks interesting, I like the colors being different, more like the old Swamp Police, going back to Dark Blue and white , and no blue windows this time , only seen a small picture, so might have a cave system in the back as it's built on a rock.

Police getting it's own Lambo like sports car as well :)

Need to see more of fire station but it certainly looks different.

Medical helicopter looks like it continues the 2022 color scheme but with the best design yet and no large 1 piece cockpit but a more of an Eurocopter EC-135 , very recognizable.

Yeah, they're pretty good to be honest. I posted my thoughts in the Sci-Fi thread.

Well, I have weird feelings about new sets. In my eyes they look all too much "futuristic". Also I kinda dont like the amout of black color used. At least i wont spend that much many on them :pir_laugh2:

 

Personally like only: - steamroller (because of that we dont have construction subtheme, so everything is better then nothing)

- Prison Island, because its something not ususal in city and like depth of small scenes inside building

- Burger Van, because its just awesome, one of the best food trucks done. Like the addition to put superstructure "out of car" and make stand from it

- 4x4 fire truck with boat, because it looks like car which i can meet nowdays.

 

Rest are for me with mixed feelings. :wacko:
