I want to build something inspired by this beast, although my yellow panel collection is rather light on, so it will be in black/LBG.

Here is my progress so far:

and under side shot:

There is currently:

1 PU L motor for drive.

1 PU L motor for steering.

And 1 PF M motor for tilting the bed using these pieces

I am planning for it to powered by buwizz 3.0

Really like the idea and I am big fan of mining machinery, so I am curious how this turns out :-)

What wheels will you use?

The tipping for the bed will put very high stress on the lillte axle connectors, the might even break.... is there no other way? Maybe with pneumatics and automated switch?

I have tested it with a large weight  and it is fine but i am considering mini LA'"s.

I do like the look of that autovalve though

as for the wheels they will be 62.4x20 s ( used in the arcos )

Makes me wish we'd had a mining truck set with these tyres.

There was a hauler set with these tires released in 2009

I still hope it will end up yellow with 5 x 7 frames from CAT dozer.

Looks very decent so far

Thanks. I hope it magically turns yellow too! Unfortunately I have already spent all i can on parts for the next little while.

I just noticed, that there is no differential. Why? Isn't there space?

If somebody wants yellow dumper on exact tires

Good luck with your truck, I always enjoy seeing these MOCs because I have already done a few ones. In my opinion it would be even more interesting without motors to can replicate all the functions but it is a matter of tastes. The one without motorized functions it is nearly 9500 cubic studs and the other is around 30000...

I will work on it.

I'm aware of that set. I own it, in fact. No, I was actually referring to haul trucks. You know, CAT 785 and the like.

I also own it.

I agree that it would be nice to see one in a technic set with those wheels

I have added a pair of mini LA's for tilting the bed and a differential (due to popular demand and the fact is better now ) There is also mudguards

Hi.

Seems like a good model, but I get a feeling that the bed is a bit to high above the rear wheels, and that the front trackwidth is a bit wide...

Would like to see some more pictures form all sides of the truck.

All in all what you have shown seems like a real compact and well thought out build. :pir-classic:

Hi.

I will try to lower the bed.
as for the track width there is no way to narrow it because the diff is between a pair of 2L axle connectors and the other crossblocks to stop the wheels from falling off every time you go around a corner. As for the front it’s almost rubbing the sides during a sharp corner.

I was in the same situation like you until (approximately) last year's December when I bought 4 of them because I (still) want to make one specific JCB telehandler. I agree they are expensive so I understand your decision. If I may add one more sentence / thought - if you don't want to buy something doesn't mean that you are poor, but it means that you are reasonable and know when to draw a line.

Thank you. I absolutely agree with this. Knowing when to draw the line is the hard bit.

I was tempted to get out the spray paint when I saw the render... yellow looks amazing! But that would ruin my future planned projects!

I can advice not to paint it; years ago I have painted two wheels futuristic in yellow and after few weeks color oxidated and turned matt and more like ochre than yellow...after asking friend of mine who is car paint (and ather chemicals and painting equipment and tool) distributer what to make to clean yellow paint and he gave a try with the less aggressive abrasive stuff he had. The next we found out that even that wheel was actually old light gray painted in flat silver... I don't know where you live, but I often hear that in Australia and New Zealand parts and sets are much much more expensive than in Europe or United States...

Kind regards

I'm happy to learn from other's past experiences. And I value my Lego too much to actually paint it!

Out of curiosity, what wheels did you paint? They must be old production for light grey.

Yes, here in Australia Lego is definitely more expensive than Europe or United States.
