Hi,

Yes, sorry for any confusion @MatthewRC😅 I just thought that as it was TotK release day on the 12th (today) that it'd be an opportune time for a Lego Zelda announcement . I didn't know that they would I was just asking here if others thought it might be possible 🤔

And yes I've heard that the survey sets are all 2024, but for all we know the Deku tree might not be out first Zelda set 🤔.

The lord of the rings tower set might've been a poor example? But another one would be that Gotham skyline, it could've been our first non-batvehicle DC D2C ( well first in a while, Arkham happened as the the TLBM joker manor) but it's been said that we are getting a Batcave first despite that we've seen the Gotham skyline. ...

So I thought maybe the same could happen here, 🙂 as now would have been a logical time to announce or launch a Zelda theme.

I know leakers haven't said as much but they aren't omniscient!!!, they just know information before they are supposed to and sometimes share that information. We have been blindsided by unknown sets before!!

But ... It's a bit late in the day for any announcements now, so I'll succeed that we probably won't get anything till the Deku tree 😔

No hard feelings, mate. Only time will when or if LEGO officially announces The Great Deku Tree.

Now that Tears of the Kingdom has been out for a while, goodness would it translate so well to a line of tie-in sets. The buildable Zonai contraptions are perfectly compatible with Lego sets - not to mention the endless potential for Link variants and incredible set pieces from throughout the game.

With Mario running for as long as it has and Sonic being given new life this year, I sincerely hope Lego has something planned for this theme beyond the Great Deku Tree, though in all honesty even that would be enough provided we do get Link and Zelda minifigures from BotW / TotK. There’s simply so much material to pull from with these games that would make for outstanding Lego sets.

Not going to lie, I almost want to get that Pac Man arcade.

The amount of small parts is almost made up for with some of the more innovative things they did with it. I agree that the price is a little steep, but I'm almost willing to overlook it since I think this will probably be regretful if I pass on it.

Lego Spyro the Dragon sets. How did I forget about Lego Spyro?

I've never played Spyro myself but I think sets are incredibly unlikely unless the series is revitalised in the near future. There's been nothing but a remaster in the last fifteen years (two full console generations ago now) and even when the series was active, it was never as iconic as the big hitters (I say this as someone who was until about 2009 very unaware of video games in general, beyond what seeped into pop-culture; I'd heard of Mario, Sonic, Zelda, Pacman and Grand Theft Auto; I'd certainly never heard of Spyro).

Spyro and Crash are both banned on Ideas unfortunately…I think it’s because Lego doesn’t want to work with Activision-Blizzard again.

And that’s a shame. Not even after Microsoft potentially acquires Activision-Blizzard?

Man I wish. Crash 2 and Spyro were the first games I ever played, but Activision-Blizzard aside I wouldn’t exactly say either franchise is exactly thriving at the moment.

But who knows, maybe a few years down the line the stars will align like they did for Horizon or Overwatch.

Ha! Overwatch and the studio environment is WHY Lego won't work with them again. Can't be promoting a game where the studio leadership is accused, multiple times no less, of sexual assault, misogyny, bulling etc.

Sony have a strong catalog, Nintendo as well, lots of first party locations and characters. Just needs to be seen how they market it.

No idea if they're remotely trustworthy but all I can say is that if that happens I am going to do that one gif of Pedro Pascal laughing and then crying. Would be cool for fans though.

Such a Nintendo thing - releasing Animal Crossing tie-in sets a year after the last major update for the game. I desperately hope that it has minifigs and not digifigs like the Mario series has, though I still might buy one or two of the sets if the builds look okay anyways.

If anyone wants to speculate, the "New Lego Theme," which releases in March, has:

77046: $14.99 (170 pieces)

77047: $19.99 (194 pieces)

77048: $29.99 (233 pieces)

77049: $39.99 (389 pieces)

77050: $74.99 (535 pieces)

And here I was hoping that if it was Nintendo it'd be Zelda sets (hopefully the Deku tree is still coming too) but I also had other licensed hopes ( Doctor Who, Percy Jackson and Avatar The last Airbender all seemed relavent and possible).

would be strange, but i could see the animal crossing sets possibly using those new little dreamzzz bodies

would prefer minifigs, but i think its def an option

It looks like it might actually be minifigs... The person giving all of these leaks specified "molded heads just like Fabuland." If that's the case, I think that the Nooks (sharing the same head mold) and Isabelle would be likely for a first wave, as well as some variety of "person" villagers represented with normal minifigs. I wonder which animal villagers/other NPCs will be given priority...

Heck, maybe that "space" minifig theme for May really is just a placeholder name, and it will actually be for Animal Crossing, so more molds/characters can be made. If I remember right, wasn't "coconut" the code name for Indiana Jones? So it wouldn't necessarily have to relate. I don't think this has been clarified by that leaker one way or another yet...

I thought that it was Mario (or was that “Leaf”?).
I could see Animal Crossing translating into LEGO, particularly if the characters are depicted using normal Minifigs with moulded VIDIYO-style heads (speaking of, I think that there was a VIDIYO-Animal Crossing crossover a few years ago - Could this be the return of VIDIYO in some form?).

Mario was codenamed Leaf, Avatar was Coconut, Indy was Pineapple, Sonic was Lemon, and Gabby‘s Dollhouse was Sparkle. Except for Sparkle maybe, none of the codenames had anything to do with the themes themselves

Personal bias at work here but a Tears of the Kingdom theme would have been so much cooler. There are so many set pieces in the game that would make for amazing Lego sets. But hey, at least the Great Deku Tree is still coming.

I’m glad we’re getting another Nintendo theme though, and that this one isn’t just gimmick-driven. Even if New Horizons is a couple of years old, people will flock to these sets I’m sure.

I'm happy if they're doing pretty much any new Nintendo IP. Animal Crossing has more than enough characters for a CMF series too, and it's definitely popular enough.

I'm not very familiar with the earlier games in the series, but the latest Animal Crossing lets you customize your house and the island where it is situated on a grid-based layout, so it should work pretty well as LEGO sets.
