Wolfpack Posted April 20 Posted April 20 I would also prefer single themes, I was answering what a next best thing or a compromise would be. Single themes are of course the best as lego can then create absolutely anything they want and have no constraints. Quote
Black Falcon Posted April 20 Posted April 20 8 hours ago, Wolfpack said: Not really. If you would quote the whole post I actually explained that you would need next to zero new parts, as all the gear would be (and mostly is already) in production. So you would need only new (mostly torso) prints, which is basically more or less the same whether you have five sets of two different themes or five sets of one theme. But it would give much more variety to the fans (instead of five or six castle torsos three castle and three space torsos). It would also make the general theme perpetual, which seems to be so important for some people here, so there would be Eternal sets on the shelf all the time and that would also make a place for any classic theme and you would not need to shove it under city. So it would solve the marketing concern some people here have about classic themes. Also those who do not like space for example would have something elso too choose from and in two years they would get two new themes. Ideally they would keep castle/pirates/space torsos on PAB until new sets for this theme arrive. I´ve read the whole post. If I would quote the whole post every time, that would just make the answers way to long, especially if you answer on several posts - especially if someone is reading it and has no idea which part of a quoted post the answer actually is for ;).7 Anyways, lets say you want to make a castle set, so you need a king/queen and some knights, maybe a prince/princess, so lets say 3 different leg and torso prints just for this set. And you didn´t even got another faction, so add an bandit/other faction and you are at 4 leg and torso prints each. Maybe you want to add an barding? Or lets save budget and just include a saddel, you can use that for both knight and don´t need prints - still no saddle in production, so new part. Surely your knights need shields, so add another two prints to the list. And you shouldn´t forget that for the normal castle build there might be parts you need that are not in production in the colour you need. So making a whole wave of sets for the theme would let all sets share that budget and let them share the parts, as the smaller sets would need little new stuff, add one or two new figures to the other sets and the rest can be the existing knights. While if you want to make pirates to, you would need more new parts/prints as you would want to have a bunch of different Pirates and a Flag at least. That beeing said, you could make one theme for the summer wave, and bring the next one the year after, each retiring towards the end of the next year, having them on shelves for about 1,5 month each, which would be a quite common production cycle, but well, maybe one day. 8 hours ago, Wolfpack said: It is not perfect, but it is the next best thing, what they asked for. It "solves" the "problem" for those who say it is not about the number of formal themes. It would formally introduce only one new nonlicenced minifigure theme, together making them three. The number of themes is surely the last thing Lego would care about, whether they create one theme with all classic themes or one theme for each after another won´t make much difference, as production capacity is the bottleneck there. Wolfpack Posted April 20 Posted April 20 I know, it is something some people in this topic care about. You could use a new part like a saddle for both castle and western (and some other themes), that was my point. As far as torsos are concerned, the last vawe od Dreamzzz had 15 or more different torsos in five sets, so it is more than doable to make two themes with that number and that budget or even three. With a clever combining of moulds the difference in new parts and new prints would be small, but a difference in diversity would be huge. You could also do one wave in the summer and the next one next year, it would not change much, as long as more themes would be available at any time. Quote

I saw that and immediately thought "The folks at EB are gonna love this!" Of course I don't know if it's more or less frustrating to get thrown a bone every now and again. It goes to show that they clearly know how to produce non-licensed sets in the Classic themes, that skill hasn't been lost...so why don't they more often? Quote

Yeah, I don't like when people do that. If nothing else it's disrespectful of other people's time (not bothering to spend any time at all putting something into your own words but expecting other people to spend several minutes watching a video to understand what you're even trying to convey). It's even worse in the algorithmic hellscape of the modern internet, because while I'm fine with reading and considering an argument I disagree with on a traditional message board like this (where different topics are isolated from one another and you can have an occasional heated discussion without worrying about it affecting the rest of your experience on the site), watching a YouTube video I don't care for can wind up polluting my recommendations (showing me more like that and less of the sorts of music or videos I usually enjoy watching to unwind). BrickBob Studpants Posted Monday at 08:31 AM Posted Monday at 08:31 AM Also, it’s funny when the title and thumbnail of the video are already clearly false. Sales and revenue are still going up according to the report, not down, so what does the red Not Stonks downward trend line even mean? I guess the point of the video is probably about price policies and alienating Castle fans or something, and they may even have valid points, but I’m not gonna watch it if blatantly wrong information is the first thing that greets me Quote
Lion King Posted Monday at 02:32 PM Posted Monday at 02:32 PM I don’t know if this is an unpopular topic but I’m not a fan of people adverisiting rebrickable for modualr buidlings while I faithfully and patinely wait for Lego to release thier offical modular cooling sets every year. And I have read some people saying offical modualr buildings are not expansive. I was like “realy? Have you spent money on rebrickable and BDP for those modular buidligns?” Quote

In the end I wonder what the point actually is in blocking someone, if they let him return with another account again and again. I mean how many did we have now? 4? 5? You basically can throw all the rules overboard if noone has to follow them anyways... 6 hours ago, BrickBob Studpants said: Also, it’s funny when the title and thumbnail of the video are already clearly false.
