lisqr Posted April 4, 2010 (edited) It's the teenager mutated ninja turtle. I got this set because I thought that giant turtle is cool. All the green stuff on it reminds me of the Green-haired Turtle: Set # - 8079 Name - Shadow Snapper Theme - Atlantis Year - 2010 Piece Count - 246 Minifigures - 1 (Lance Spears with out flippers) Price - MSRP $29.99, £24.99 The box: back: Very few play feature. 2 bags. Bag 1 makes the sub, bag2 makes the turtle. DSS Lance Spear MF: pretty standard for the Atlantis theme He has a dual-sided head. I like the sad expression a lot. Makes you want to bully him Interesting pieces: large tail piece; 12 new claw piece; 2x4 plate; 7 bionicle fin piece; 10 1x1 with stud on the side in lime; (this piece seems to be very common nowadays) 4x4 plate with a 2x2 cutout; (very interesting piece, only available in 2 other sets) And the turtle ring of course. (forgot to added to the photo) The little sub (or is it) uses a lot of snot pieces. The overall shape is decent, but not much to it. The propeller can rotate in all directions except in a direction that will make the thing go forward. But I didn't expect much anyway. Lance: "I can't reach the joystick :(" Of course I didn't buy this set for the sub. The main attraction is the turtle. The base of the turtle. Nice use of all the technic angled sockets. You can see where the 7 bionicle fins are going to go. The down side is all the flashy colors aren't hidden very well once it's done. The shadow snapper itself. It can support itself with the tail and the arms or the tail and the head. When supported by its tail and head, it looks like it's swimming. Like I said before, from the backside, you can see all the yellow and blue. It's not covered up very well. under extra pieces Final verdict: Design: The turtle looks cool from certain angel (see box art), but looks bad from the side or the back. The sub is just a filler. Build: Fairly interest, but building the claws can be a bit repetitive. Parts: Many interesting parts especially for building monsters. The bionicle fins can be used on all kinds of creatures. Price: A bit expensive at MSRP for 246 pieces with a lot of small pieces. Overall: recommend to monster lovers, but if you only want to get one or two atlantis sets, I'll go for something else. RoryoCox Posted April 4, 2010 Good review of a good set, which I have to get A.S.A.P This set is really nice with a good minifigure and a well designed ship. P.S Maybe you could show more of the build or some features.

lightningtiger Posted April 4, 2010 Thanks for your review of this set 'lisqr'- my son uses the monster in all the stories he makes up - he loves it and thinks it's real cool ! Now the vehicle, I'm starting to MOD it - I can get him to hold the joystick (I wonder why it's called that ? ) - parts of it appear unfinshed, postioned poorly or lacking support. I'll be posting that a.s.a.p. ! I'm a conformist! !

The turtle also has somewhat limited pose (can't expect much from a turtle anyway).
not-in-use-anymore Posted April 5, 2010 He has a dual-sided head. I like the sad expression a lot. Makes you want to bully him Isn't it the other way around? Please don't hit me for that, I have money!! Not too interested in this, I'm not a huge fan of turtles.
