Hi everyone, Here is a small seasonal build made for a small Lego event in France last Sunday (Fanasbruche). The rock structure is especially here to add visibility In spoiler - Another view of the witch and a view of the back (I know I know she lost some hair on the rear of her head, let's say it's due to her age )

The night was wearing on as five storytellers continued deep in conversation, pausing here and there to refresh themselves with the meager supply of the bar. The second member of the Midnight Society, a man draped in white robes, had just finished his story. "Quite the tale of woe you had there dear Isaac, but it seemed to be missing that final twist of the dagger. My tale is one of tragedy, it pulls you in close with whispers of familiarity and kindness then stabs you in the back with sheer suffering and misfortune. Shall I tell it?" "Bah, there must've still been salt water in your ears, my dearest Galuchat! Still, though, who am I to refuse hearing a tale by one of my favorite storytellers?" "Tell away, Carlotta," Mallora replies, her misty voice ringing through the silence left after Isaac's tale. "Always have I been partial to a Madame Galuchat story." "Twisting daggers, stabbing backs - now that's the kind of story I'd like to hear." "To say I have a favorite, like Isaac and our newest member claim, would discredit other storytellers I do adore... although I must admit I am quite intrigued to learn about what you have in store for us?" Lucas replies, lighting some more scented tobacco into his pipe. "Very well then, I picked this tale up not 2 weeks ago down at the baths. I frequent there often you know, good for my skin. Let me tell you never have I heard of deeds more noble and yet so tragic, so pure and yet so horrific. Feast your ears upon this my beloved Midnight Society dearies, I give you The Tale of the Two Faces." ------------------------------ Two Weeks Prior --------------------------------- Evening began to wear on as three heroes of Heroica Hall were approached by a gentlemen wearing the uniform of the Town Watch, they were: Althior Emorith (K-Nut) Necromancer Level 42 1/5 *Gain Triple Experience* *Absorbs Earth* *Immune to Petrified and Darkness* Power Bonus: 5 for Spells Defense: 7 Health: 53/53 Ether: 57/57 Gold: 1230 Equipment: Scepter of Divine Affinity (WP:16, Has ⅙ chance to deal Cursed effect on successful spells and ⅙ chance to deal Blessed effect on successful healing, Staff), Spellbound Gloves (+5 spellpower, Handwear), Ethereal Cloak (SP:2, Max Ether +4, backwear), Medal of Glory (Wearer earns triple experience, accessory), Robe of the Seneschal (SP:5; wearer absorbs earth-elemental damage and is immune to petrified and darkness elemental damage; suitable to clerics, mages, chi monks, necromancers and scholars; bodywear) Inventory: Artifacts: Robe of the Elven Necromancer (SP:4, bodywear), The Rat Queen's Cape (Backwear, all Vermin type are Enamored with the wearer for the first three rounds of combat, Suitable for Alchemists, Beast Warriors, Chi Monks, and Witches) Spell Items: Diamond (Light), Topaz (Lightning), Amethyst (Darkness), Ruby (Fire), Sapphire (Wind), Garnet (Earth), Opal (Ice), Aquamarine (Water), Emerald (Wood) Consumables: 4 Potions, 8 Tonics, 3 Grand Tonics, 2 Ether Cores, 7 Remedies, 2 Elixirs, Phoenix Incense, 8x Mead, 5x Nostrum, Garnet Lamp of Summoning, 2 Grating Stones, Skeleton Decoy, Feather of Lithe (Makes the user nimble for three rounds, giving them a 1/3 chance to completely avoid rolls of COUNTER and DAMAGE and Free Hits.), Feather of Flight (Allows the user to flee from the battle when used.) Just a reminder, if you want to interact with anything or try something, don't forget to bold it.

Hey there! People are doing it, so I'll do it too. These are my MOCs from the contest: Alarming Avatar: Monster Bash: The monsters and fighters are spooking it up at the haunted house! With party games such as "pin the spider on the web", a bubbly hot tub, and some scary tunes, they're bound to have a frightening time! -Sci

This is a creation originally built for the Monster Bash contest, but it couldn't be entered because it's on a 12x20 base (which must have been 16x16 to be entered). To stand out, I decided to locate my monster fighters and monsters party on a boat. It's supposed to be a steamboat, as Monster Fighters has a mildly steampunk theme. I never got around to getting a Monster Fighters set before, so I didn't have the minifigures that would be really helpful for the theme. So I went out to buy the 3 smallest Monster Fighters sets, to find out that they were on sale at the Lego Store , because the line is getting discontinued . The monster fighters have agreed with the monsters that they are no longer enemies. They go out on a steam boat one evening to have a party in the centre of a lake. The fireplace is normally used to boil water to run the steam engine, but the witch has found it useful for cooking. (Sorry. You can barely see the pot in the witch's hand.) Three monster fighters (Ann, Jack, & Rodney) and a swamp monster enjoy swimming in the lake in the evening. The swamp monster hunts fish for the group to eat (shown handing one over to Frank). The mummie jumps in to join them, which is probably not such a great idea for what he is. A ghost is chained to the roof to light the dark path when the boat is driven. The water wheel is stopped, so the zombie stands there to drink his wine. Fun fact: Unlike how they're typically portrayed in fiction, zombies are generally not more dangerous or aggressive than the people that they were before they died. However, the way that they are often shown in film resembles their actual behaviour when drunk. In case if your interested in seeing this again, you can see the page on MOCpages.

I partnered up with a very talented animator Garrett Barati on this Halloween themed brickfilm. Enjoy!

Discussion topic for my Action Themes Halloween contest entries. The Monster's Lair (built for the Creature's Lair contest) The Monster's Lair by mista_carrot, on Flickr When I think of a classic creature's lair, I immediately think of Dr. Frankenstein's lab. I didn't just want to do the typical tesla coils and lightning bolts (not that there's anything wrong with that), so I turned to my other hobby as a source for inspiration: video games. More specifically, Capcom's Darkstalkers, which is a fighting game with classic monsters as the characters. If you're into classic monsters then it's a fun game with some cool takes on their stories. Anyway, this MOC takes a lot of details from Victor's (the Frankenstein Monster of the game) stage: the castle setting with the pillars and arches, the tiled floor, the style of the machinery and the red chair. The Monster's Lair 3/4 View by mista_carrot, on Flickr The Monster's Lair Overhead by mista_carrot, on Flickr I was unsure of how I was going to attach the electricity infusion thingy to the wall. At first I was thinking of some complex technic attachment, but in the end, a simple hinge did the trick. The Monster's Lair Back View by mista_carrot, on Flickr Peace Celebration (Monster Bash contest entry) The picture above is actually of the first version of the entry which did not contain any of the Fighters (except for Major Quinton Steele's head). I didn't read the rules as thoroughly as I should have and just assumed I could make a party with just the Monsters. With that line of thinking, I figured they should be partying over the deaths of the Fighters. The Fighters' weapons are hung on the walls as trophies and the Monsters are drinking and dancing the night away. Then there's this: Which is Steele's head mounted on the wall. Since he is the "big game hunter" type character, I figured it would be fitting for his head to mounted on the wall as the ultimate payback. After I posted the above photos I reread the rules and learned of my error. Thus the above became the "bad ending" version and I started reworking it to make a "good ending". (Of course, whether it's bad or good depends on your point of view.) The "good ending" version only needed slight reworking. The story then became that the Fighters give up their weapons (literally giving them up to the Monsters) and the Monsters in turn promise not to harm humans. Adding the Fighters made it better IMO; it makes the party more lively. Some shots without the figs: See more photos on my Flickr photostream.

A futuristic military aircraft with a Halloween color-scheme! It took me a while to give it a name. Possibilities included "Reaper" (which I had used for a different MOC), "Shadow" (which is used often), and "All Havoc's Eve" (which sounded too clunky).

My wife and I went to LEGOland CA yesterday (the day after BTTF day) to see what they did for Halloween. We usually go at least four times per year, October to see what they did for Halloween, December to see what they did for Christmas and a couple of times in the Winter and Spring (avoiding the hottest of Summer) I took a few photos and videos (with my GoPro, which I will publish after editing). Anyway, here are the photos and some things we liked. First we went to Miniland (a favorite of ours). First we noticed that they removed the farm area and replaced it with a campground and a “Build a Boat” area. In the campground they had a couple of Halloween themed scenes, the first I noticed was a troupe of Boy Scouts whose campground is being attacked by a giant spider. Boy Scouts by MyPlasticBricks, on Flickr The next, not Halloween themed but just a nice family outing with an RV and a Turkey on the grill. It seems to me that folks who “camp” with an RV take a lot more of home with them, such as the baby stroller (in the rough), the grill, and the golf cart for getting around... Wow, that’s really roughing it! RV Camping by MyPlasticBricks, on Flickr Next to the RV area is a group of Porta Potties (outhouses) which a mischievous bear is trying to overturn and a guy inside screaming “OCCUPIED” as if the bear understands. Porta Potty by MyPlasticBricks, on Flick Towards the end of the campground is an area for rock climbing. It seems that this guy has found some friendly mountain goats to help him out. Rock Climbing by MyPlasticBricks, on Flickr Across the river as part of the view for the Coast Cruise ride is a scientist trying to bring his creation to life using jumper cables, maybe to be attached to the solar light fixture on the ground. Frankenstein by MyPlasticBricks, on Flickr Something I think was a good use of some of the MiniLand space is the “Build a Boat” and boat race area. There they loan kids a boat hull and LEGO pieces to build a boat then have it race down the flue. Build a Boat by MyPlasticBricks, on Flickr Something I always look for in the Halloween decorations is the Alien ship crash landed just outside Las Vegas. I don’t remember 2 shops last year (maybe there was) but they have 2 flying saucers, one crashed, one just landed, supposedly to help their crashed friends. Alien Invasion by MyPlasticBricks, on Flickr Over at the New Orleans area, they have a “Jazz Funeral”. This year there is a zombie procession. Not sure why a zombie procession at a cemetery. Why would the “undead” be in a funeral procession? I included a couple of photos just in case someone want to see how to build a MiniLand Zombie. Zombies Jazz Funeral by MyPlasticBricks, on Flickr Zombies More Zombies by MyPlasticBricks, on Flickr Time for lunch! We decided to try the “Knights Smokehouse”. It was great! The food compares favorably with the smokehouse down town here (Lucilles BBQ), and the brisket was more tender and flavorful. The restaurant appear to be guarded by a friendly dragon. One thing I found odd... A smokehouse in the Castle area for Knights playing Country and Western music (I notice the oddest things, my wife hadn’t noticed the disconnect). Just little off theme for a Knights dining area, but the music was at a good volume and there was a good choice for songs. Knights Smokehouse by MyPlasticBricks, on Flickr Then back to Miniland to finish Washington DC and VA area. In Georgetown there were kids (Miniland figures) Trick-or-Treating.I always enjoy seeing the Trick-or-Treat area in Georgetown. Bonus points if you can identify the big green Trick-or-Treater. I think the guy (prisoner) with his leg stretched from the Ball-and Chain is quite humorous. Trick-or-Treating in Georgetown by MyPlasticBricks, on Flickr Then there is the party next to the Georgetown locks. Party by Georgetown Locks by MyPlasticBricks, on Flickr Something I always look for is the witch on the Washington Mounment. It appears that she is walking along a ledge, but I think she went **Splat** and is trying to recover. Witch on Washington Monument close-up by MyPlasticBricks, on Flickr Overview of Washington Monument Witch on Washington Monument by MyPlasticBricks, on Flickr Next it was time to go to “Fun Town” to see what was in the PaB area. They did some nice theming here. Two that I noticed was the big spider above the Laundrette (next to the Clubhouse (where the PaB area is) and a church a little ways down. The PaB area was nice (for me) today, they had green plant stems, white door and window frames, and some white 2x3 slopes, perfect for my Christmas layout, and a few other pieces I could not live without. I got out of there only spending $45. Spider above the Laundrette by MyPlasticBricks, on Flickr And the Church in Fun town Spider on the Church by MyPlasticBricks, on Flickr It was now about 1:30 PM, time for us to leave to “try” to avoid the traffic for our 2 hour drive home. On our way out I noticed a great spider web with a spider hanging down. Upside-Down spider by MyPlasticBricks, on Flickr I know I missed some things here, I didn’t see it all, I just did not have the time. We had a great day! But our normally less than 2 hour trip home wound up being close to 3.5 hours... Wow the traffic! But it was our only chance to get to LEGOland for Halloween this year. I hope you enjoyed the photos. Hello! This was my Halloween MOC. It uses a SBrick to control 4 functions: - White light - Ultra-violet light - Fog - Minifigs rotation The white light uses a regular LEGO Power Functions Light pair. One LED is inside the pumpkin at front, the other one is bellow the floor, pointing up. The ultra-violet ("black") light uses 3 home made Power Functions UV pairs, with UV LEDs. I'm using a rectifier bridge and two 100 Ohm resistors to drive the LEDs, a circuit identical to LEGO PF Light pair. 2 pairs (4 LEDs) light 4 torches in the left and right walls. I put the LED inside a technic 1x1 brick with hole, behind the trans-neon-orange flame to hide it (black light sources are also blue light sources). Some UV passes trough, not much but I complete it with another pair (2 LEDs) bellow the floor, pointing up. There is a fifth torch in the back wall, without UV LED behind but still glowing a bit, like the spider in the left corner. The fog cames from an home made fog generator. It uses a kantal wire to heat glycerole/glyrecin, like the smoke generators used in in model trains as also most e-cigs. Has a silica wick that takes the glycerin from a small tank, enough for more than 30 minutes of work. The fog is not spreading allover the MOC as I intended. I might add a small fan later. Finally the minifigs rotation uses an old 9V micro-motor. No gears so it turns to fast :( Everything is powered from a LEGO Power Functions LiPo. You can see most of the electronics in this photo of the base while being assembled:

So for Halloween this year my son asked me to build a MOC of something 'Halloween/Spooky/Creepy to display in our home'. I was more than happy to oblige him with this MOC of a Cemetary Gate and Headless Horseman and a roving bone collector. Of course after not building of doing anything with Legos for almost 9 months, the MOC bug has reared its ugly head and bitten me again, so now this creation is slated to become part of a much larger display that my kids are giving me input on including tombstones, masuleums, trees, and a bunch of other creepy/spooky things. Plus with the whole line of Monster Fighters being released and it being Halloween and all this is just to good of a time not to get back into building.
