Hello fellow Star Wars fans. I had a long week and I needed to change my mind. FedEx came just in time with my free shipping double VIP order. Nothing better than a Lego box to clear your mind. Battle pack aren't long to build so I thought I would review the set to make the fun last longer! So without further introduction, my fifth review: Galactic Empire Battle Pack! Name: Galactic Empire Battle Pack Theme: Star Wars / Battlefront Year: 2016 Pieces: 109 Minifigures: 4 Price: USA 12.99$, ENG 11.99£, CAN 15.99$, EUR 16.99€ Ressources: Brickset Lego store description Launch an Imperial attack from the battle station! The rebels have been spotted in the distance. Jump onto the control center to pinpoint their location, load the dual shooter, arm the blasters and fire! With your help, the Imperial Troopers will send those rebels running for cover! -Includes 4 minifigures: 2 Imperial Stormtroopers, an Imperial Shock Trooper and an Imperial Technician -Features a control console, dual stud blaster station and a detachable spring-loaded shooter. -Detach the spring-loaded shooter to expand the battle play. -Includes 4 stud blasters and extra ammo. -Accessory elements include 2 jetpacks and 3 Imperial Trooper helmets. -Recreate endless LEGO® Star Wars battle adventures. -Makes a great addition to any LEGO® Star Wars collection. -Measures over 1” (4cm) high, 3” (10cm) wide and 2” (7cm) deep. The box has the 2016 episode VII art: Kylo Ren. On the back we see the play features like the detachable gun that can be used as a turret. Also the accesories that are included. Inside the box there is 2 numbered bags and the instruction booklet which as the same image as the box. Like always. The back with the win minifigure. Spare parts. Mainly studs (its a BP) and a missile. The completed model: It's supposed to be a gun platform. It is not based on anything seen in any movie/videogame. Front view Side view Back view The canon can be detached and serve as a machine gun emplacement. The control section looks better by itself. You could attach 1 gun on each side if you have more than 1 set. You can sit a minifigure on the lowest seat but not on the second one. I don't know why they would put the red piece there because it forces your the second minifigure to be standing. Now to the minifigures or the reason you buy Battle Packs We get 4 like always. Two jetpack trooper, one technician and one shocktrooper. The jetpack trooper are the regular stormtrooper but with added battle damge. The shocktrooper are never seen before. They are based on the new Battlefront game from what I heard. They were also in the Force Unleashed video game and had a speacial shield ability. They were pretty cool. The technicians is the same print as the Imperial Star Destroyer but with a slightly different face and newly colored hat in black. Back view I added some comparison pictures From left to right The jumptrooper, the regular stormtrooper, the rebel one and the 1999 version. A shocktrooper, a jumptrooper, a rebels stormtrooper and a regular stormtrooper. back printing The imperial technician with the one from the ISD and the ISD microfighter. back printing Rating ------ These three points are not included in final score. Price: 6/10 – We know the drill by now. Around 10-15$ (depending on country) for 4 minifigures, a small build and around 100 pieces. Most are studs or really small. But these are all about the minifigures. We get 3 variants all new and with great printing but a small and not iconic at all vehicule. Price is OK for what you get. Parts: 6/10 – No really interesting parts except the jetpacks which are exclusive to that set in that colour. At least there are very few technic pieces so you get mostly bricks. Build 4/10 – Battle pack are not about build but this one was really boring. The vehicule is very small and uninteresting. Plus not knowing what it is makes it a forgetable build. It will take between 5-10 minutes to build. ------ Design 3,5/10 – This vehicule is not inspired by any source material. This is one reason I gave it such a low score. Not because I only want canon material but because the designer had free game to build whatever they wanted with a Star Wars feel and they came up with this little kind of command platform/artilerry gun which is not really detailed and feels incomplete. It gets some points because of the play features like the detachable gun and the missile function but that only offer so much. A speeder or any other kind of vehicule that could have fought with the speeder bike of the Rebel Alliance BP would have been better. Also this doesn't give any display value. Minifigures: 8/10 – We get 4 minifigures and 3 variations. They all have the same angry clone face except the technician who has a different face print with a microphone. The jumptrooper are inspired by the battlefront video game (like this whole BP). They have the normal stormtrooper printing (not Rebels) but with added damage print. They look good but it might feel a little too much specialy the big crack on the helmet. Some will love them so will hate them. The damaged trooper can represent experience troopers or if you will 'crack' troopers. (Pun intended) All the added print limits the army bulding potential of this set unless you want to amass a Lightning division who all have a lightning bolt crack on their helmet. The shocktrooper is a nice variant. You can use the as the Emperors guards or some specialist units. They have just enough red to look different but not to much to look like some clone trooper from a clone legion. My point is they still look like stormtrooper. They are canon because of battlefront but it's easy to imagine that the Empire had more than one variant of trooper. The technician is the same as the ISD one. His new hat is probably what many will go after. Still, it might be more accurate but for kids who don't spot those kinds of details in the movie, it may look a little weird for them to have an all grey trooper with a black hat. (Fashion alert LOL) Overall, the selection of trooper variations is great. You get 2 assault troopers (jetpacks), one specialist trooper (shocktrooper) and a support soldier (technician). Playability: 8/10 – This set is one faction only. You need some alliance troopers (I'am talking about you Alliance Battle Pack) for the complete playability experience. Still, by itself the sets still brings some fun features. The stud shooters are always fun to shoot and so is the springshooter. The trooper with jetpacks are also fun to play with because every kid dreames at least once to own a jetpack. Also the turrets rotates and you can remove the cnnon and use it as a turret leaving you with a small command center and a gun platform. OVERALL 6,5/10 – This is an average BP because of a lackluster vehicule. But the minifigure are amazing. It all depends if you like the damaged stormtrooper and if you don't mind adding a diffrent kind of stormtrooper to your army. The things is, a low quality build and some unique (too unique?) minifigures diminushes the army building potential of this pack. But since we mostly get them for figures, I see this pack going in many peoples collection. Please comment and share your thoughts about this set and the review in the comments. Thanks for reading!

I know this topic has been brought up a lot in other threads, but I figured it would be nice to have a thread to discuss it in greater depth. With that said I am wondering what people's thoughts are on army builders/battle packs that include a unique named character. I know a lot of people defend them because they say the unique character appeals to kids (and AFOLS) who might otherwise not buy the set. I just don't understand that mentality. Obviously if the army builder is the ONLY set to contain a character like Eomer people will get at least one of them if they are a fan of the theme since it's the only way to get him. Lego could easily circumvent this by just offering Eomer in another set like Helm's Deep. Sure it sucks for people who can't afford Helm's Deep, but it's no different for them trying to get Theoden, King of the Dead, Grima, Haldir, etc. who only appear in expensive sets. I think even without a unique character army builders would sell extremely well, and possibly even better without them! Lego just has to be smart about it and put special prints or molds in for the grunts which would be exclusively available in the army builder. That way they still have the appeal of offering something unique, but they don't discourage people from buying multiples because they don't want all the extra Eomers or Thranduils. Do kids honestly look at a set and say "hey, this set only has 4 Uruk-hai and 2 Rohan Soldiers, I'm not buying it cause it doesn't contain any unique characters!" I know when I was a kid I ALWAYS wanted to buy tons of soldiers, even if my funds didn't allow it. I actually HATED when companies would not do the grunts like Storm Troopers, Foot Soldiers, etc. I think Lego might lose out on a FEW sales of army builder sets if they don't include a named character, but I think it would more than be made up for by all the people buying so many extra because they are "true" army builders. What are you guys thoughts for/against named characters in battle packs? How do the children in your life feel about it, or did you feel about it as a kid yourself?

Hello and welcome to my fourth review! This is the first of my Eurobricks Reviewers Academy Bronze Level reviews. I brought this set because it came with some of the coolest minifigs ever and it didn't hurt my wallet that bad as well. So go ahead and read the review, I'm sure you will like it! BASIC INFORMATION: Set Name: Elite Clone Trooper & Commando Droid Battle Pack Set Number: 9488 Number of Pieces: 98 Minifigs: 4 Price: $12.99 USD Theme: Star Wars (The Clone Wars) Year Released: 2012 HELPFUL LINKS: Brickshelf (My gallery for this review) Brickset Bricklink LEGO Shop @ Home THE REVIEW: The Box Front: The front of the box showcases a nice little battle scene with the set in action. I can't help but think how fake the big blast to the right looks. Back: Here is the back of the box. This is a normal LEGO Star Wars box sight. This is where LEGO shows us the main features of the set. Image courtesy of eBay. Side: To me this guy is the coolest LEGO clone ever released. If I was to be a LEGO clone, I would want to be him. The back of the box is just a normal scene that shows us the play features. I think we should just move on. Contents: Dark red is pretty much the main color in this set. Some interesting pieces include the clear piece and the two cape pieces. Cape Pieces: Here are the cape pieces for the commando clone, which includes one red shoulder pad cape and one black leg cape. Extra Pieces: The extra pieces are a black round stud, a 1x1 black tile, a black Technic connector, some droid arms, and bunch of dark red clone helmet visors and radios. Minifigs ARC Trooper Front: As I mentioned earlier in this review, I think this minifig is the coolest clone ever. He looks great, the capes are awesome and the torso is a great match. The only complaint I have is that the printed feet are a little strange and not necessary. ARC Trooper Back: The backpack is simple yet perfect for the minifig. ARC Trooper without the Helmet: The only thing I can say here is that the minifig has the standard clone head that is found in many Star Wars sets. ARF Trooper Front: This guy is a little more bland than his counterpart. The helmet, however, suggests that this minifig is a member of Commander Wolf's soldiers because it has a wolf logo printed on each side. ARF Trooper Back: The back of the ARF Trooper is very boring as there aren't any accessories for it and I believe that this is a fairly common back printing. ARF Trooper without the Helmet: Just like his fellow counterpart, he has the standard clone head. The Commando Droids Front: I have never really liked LEGO's droids because they don't display all that well and don't offer much in the way of playability; however, these probably are my favorite ones. I really like the color, and the face, for some reason, is appealing to me. Commando Droids Back: I asked myself, do I really need to show the back? I guess it doesn't hurt anybody to show it. The Cannon Before the Cannon and Support Legs: Here's the body of the cannon before the cannon and support legs are attached. My question is why is there a clear round 2x2 under the cannon? I tried to see if the legs supported the cannon without it and they did. The Finished Cannon: This is a pretty good cannon, especially for a battle pack with awesome minifigs. The legs are quite the eye candy and any minifig fits perfectly in that seat. The Full Set: This set is one of the better ones I have have purchased. Let's go see how it adds up in my totals! Image courtesy of LEGO. TOTALS: Design: 9/10 A really well-designed cannon. The legs are eye candy, the seat is great, and it looks realistic. The only thing holding it back from being a ten is the flick-fire missile. I can see why TLG needed to provide playability by having a "shooting" canon, but to an AFOL it is simply not needed. Parts: 9/10 Considering that this is a battle pack, there are many useful parts within this set that certainly would be beneficial to any MOCer. Build: 9/10 A rather simple build with nothing out of the ordinary. There are no challenges in this build, nothing should make you look twice at the instructions. Minifigs: 10/10 The minifigs, particularly the clone troopers, are wonderful! The clones are more detailed than the norm and the droids are much better than their counterparts. Playablity: 8/10 I wouldn't say it is an awesome set to display, but it isn't bad. For kids, this set could be played with for hours and hours. Price: 8/10 It is a battle pack which makes me think that it should be around $8-10 (USD). But for some of my fellow AFOLs, the MSRP is a pretty good price because it comes with awesome minifigs and great pieces. Total: 53/60 I fully recommend this set for any LEGO Star Wars fan. The minifigs are great and the pieces are very good for MOCing. The cannon isn't bad either, but, as you probably know, the minifigs are the star feature of this set. -
[pid][/pid] Hello everyone, Isn't it wonderful to suddenly be able to reminisce the excellent LEGO Pirates II series since it was first released in 2009. We have also gotten some good Pirate sets along the way through the LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean. And now, we see the latest minifigure pack in pre-packed condition out of the blue in a matter of recent days. I am very pleased to be able to pick this pack up at the LEGOLAND Malaysia, located at the 'Big Shop'. Although the price is on the high side, but I am very pleased to get it and take a better look for myself if it is indeed worth the money to acquire it. Name: 850839 Pirate minifigure pack Theme: LEGO System / Pirates Year: 2013 Pieces: 39 Minifigs: 4 minifigures Price: USD N.A, GBP N.A, EURO N.A, SGD $23.90, RM 59.90 Resources: Brickset, BrickLink An original packing image of the 850839 Pirate minifigure pack Back view of the original packing image of the 850839 Pirate minifigure pack Look here, mates! We have more new Pirate crew for recruiting Wow, this packing looks like any other regular typical battle pack which we have seen in the medieval castle, city, space, Halloween themes, etc, over recent years. It is a pleasant surprise to see this minifigure pack to appear in the market but I personally find it more of a re-hash of minifigure pack that just will like to rid of the extra parts in the warehouse, or you could really simply put it as a hint or a teaser of a new Pirates III theme in the near future. No one can be certain of the intentions of this mysterious minifigure pack except TLG planning. Perhaps, time will tell us soon. The content of the sealed box Within the sealed box, it comes with one small package, four pre-assembled minifigures with accessories and an instruction manual to build up the little scene. I will also like to mention that this package is built in these following countries and unfortunately the place that the package is produced from, is also notorious from the poorly made minifigure types with the marked symbol below the armpit. It is unfortunate even though the quality has slightly improved but you could see and feel visible differences. To me, that is considered a huge disappointment to a certain extent. It is not quite exact the same quality like the LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series, but maybe I am being too paranoid and sceptical due to early misconceptions. Front - Instruction Manual Back - Instruction Manual Building parts These are the parts from the small little package that will be used to build up the tiny little hide out for the Pirates to hide themselves from impending threat or to camouflage their treasure chest. It is definitely not very complicated to begin with. Useful parts and accessories In this package, these are some of the very useful parts and accessories that is definitely welcoming for any minifigures context. Weaponries such as the scimitar and flintlock pistol are good choice of weapons even though there is no typical traditional cutlasses for the pirates. I am not complaining since I got plentiful of such weapons. The crab and parrot are also excellent addition to the total count of animals inventories. Not to forget that, printed tiles like the new 2x2 map tile which I am very sure that I have not seen it before, and the printed ship bottle from the Pirates of the Caribbean. Lastly, the chicken drum stick and barrel are equally useful for any play settings, not restricting to Pirates. Treasure chest with chrome gold I am very pleased that the treasure chest came with the right content as reflected on the packaging. To me, this is a plus point as I had very bad experience from my 4181 Isla De Muerta review. I will be very upset if I have gotten the pearl gold colour instead of the chrome gold. I am glad this has been successfully resolved. The Pirates minifigures This pack come with a Pirate Captain and I am not deeply mistaken about it, two male henchmen and a female Pirate. Most of the parts in there are pretty much re-hash with little room for new creativity and imagination. Even though they have tried to shuffle in with a couple of new faces but it does not really hold much water as well and I find it weak in settings of the choice of minifigures too. Good news for some, there are back printing for all of the four minifigures who love a detail for minifigures. Do you like this minifigure pack? To conclude, I am not pretty satisfied with this new Pirate minifigure pack. It made up of too many re-hashes and the quality is not too desirable to my standard. The pricing is steep and the money probably warrant you to get a better LEGO playset instead. The good point in this pack is the useful building elements, parts and accessories which is decent and good selection, but unfortunately the quantity is low for the good stuff. In the end, I most likely bought this minifigure pack on impulse and I really want to find out for myself if the gold bar is indeed chrome. I am glad that TLG didn't mislead me to obtain a pearl gold bar instead. All in all, I only recommend you to get this minifigure pack if you are truly wanting to complete the LEGO Pirate theme or a true hardcore LEGO Pirates fan. Summary review Playability: 3/10 (Limited playability and probably depend a lot more on the integration of your own Pirates theme.) Design: 5/10 (Design is pretty simple and the selling point is probably the good selection of parts and accessories) Price: 3/10 (Price is expensive to my taste and not quite worth the money to acquire it with the extreme low parts to price ratio.) Overall: 3.7/10 (Grab this if you are really intending to complete every single LEGO Pirate sets out there.) I gave it a "2" based on my Review Score Card. What about yours? Ever since 2007 The Lego Company has raided our wallets with their mostly popular (and sometimes less so, I’m looking at you 8015 Assassin Droid!) Battle Packs. Now it’s your turn! Create your own Star Wars Battle Pack to populate the galaxy (and your desk) with more minifigures! An all Jedi battle pack, Star Wars Christmas battle pack, an astromech battle pack, a cantina goer battle pack, the options are endless! All entries should include a small build with play features as well as 4 minifigures. Look to the previous battle packs for inspiration but use your imagination too. If you are using aliens that do not already have a mold produced by Lego (such as the Quarren), they must be a race that makes an appearance in one of the main 6 Star Wars movies. This is not a fig-barf contest. Each entry will be judged on play features, the main build, and the minifigures. The entries will be given a maximum of 6/15 points for the build, 5/15 points for the minifigures, and 4/15 points for play features. Rules Each person is allowed up to 2 entries in this contest, but each person is eligible to receive only one prize. Each entry must include 4 minifigures or the equivalent of minifigures (brick built figs may not contain more than 30 pieces). Each entry should not include more than 100 pieces (not including minifigures and 1 weapon apiece), but there will be some grace given if the piece count exceeds this number be a small amount. The contest will run from 1st May to 31th May, 2015. As long as it's still May 31 somewhere in the world, you can still enter. Entries posted after the deadline will be disqualified. This contest is open to all EB members, even if they joined EB after the contest has begun. EB Staff are ineligible to win prizes. All entries must be new creations, not posted anywhere else prior to being entered in the contest. You may be asked by a staff member to change your entry if it is too similar to an earlier creation. All entries must be built from real LEGO. No clone brands, no third-party custom parts. Digital entries will be allowed. All digital entries must use only existing pieces in existing colors. You can use official stickers or custom stickers for the minifigures only. All entries must be posted as a new topic in the Watto’s Junkyard forum, the title prefixed by, "[sWBP] – entry name". (For example, "[sWBP] – Youngling Battle Pack") A link must also be included in this thread for your entry to count. Post pictures no larger than 800x640, but you may link to bigger pictures. You may do a 'full-blown photo edit' with all the text, effects, background compositing, support erasing, and other effects on one picture. All your other pictures may have no editing other than color adjustment or background removal for a solid-color background. For obvious reasons, any photo editing that changes the shape, functionality, or color (not tint or adjustment, but actual color) of a LEGO piece is prohibited. It is also prohibited to use the Lego logo in any picture. All entries are considered WIPs (Works In Progress) until the deadline passes. Until the deadline has passed, you are allowed to change and improve your MOC. If there are more than 25 entries, EB staff will make a first selection to bring the number down to 25, and then EB members will vote for their favorite entry among that selection. EB staff will using the judging scale listed above. EB members should vote based on the judging scale, but will not be required to show what points they judged by. Rules Update: The piece count allowed for brick-built figs has been increased to 30 pieces The piece limit rules has been updated to be more flexible. It's still at 100, but there is some overage allowed. This is being purposely left vague because I don't want people to abuse this rule and I reserve the right to veto any builds that are obviously too parts intensive. Entries are not required to list their piece count (though you still can if you want). The piece count needs to visually look like it could be a battlepack but can be done in a completely different way from the TLG produced battlepacks. (See my example entry for what would still be acceptable if it's not in the TLG format). Prizes First and second place will win 9489 Endor Rebel Trooper & Imperial Trooper Battle Pack. Angry Senator Battle Pack Battles are fought by clones in the field, but a different war is waged in the Galactic Senate. The Mon Calamari Senators are against the vote ! You can build a Repulsorpod. Prepare your speech. Launch the Pie Throwers ! and shoot them in the face ! Includes 4 minifigures: Male Senator, Female Senator and 2 Mon Calamari Senators Includes Galactic Senate Repulsorpod Repulsorpod features flick pie ! Fire the flick pie ! Features weapons such as fish, banana, egg and pie ! Anything which can be thrown in the Senate can be used as weapons .... I wonder if anyone could be so mad to throw a repulsorpod ! Help Anakin Skywalker defeat the evil Sith Lord Count Dooku and his Super Battle Droid to rescue the captive Chancellor Palpatine aboard the Separtist flagship the Invisible Hand! Four minifigures are included that have been compiled from other sets: a Super Battle Droid, Count Dooku, Anakin Skywalker (with face of Attack of the Clones Anakin), and Chancellor Palpatine (includes two of the One Ring piece from Lord of the Rings sets on his wrists to accurately represent the restraints that the chair had in the scene from Revenge of the Sith). The two builds that are included are: a light that sat aside the chair in the film (that can be split in half by applying pressure on the bit sticking out of the of the support beam; represents Anakin or Count Dooku using their lightsaber to split the beam and use their force ability to throw the top half at their opponent) and the chair that holds Chancellor Palpatine in the film (which can be swiveled around using the black flat tile sticking out of the bottom of the build). Here's another little thing from me :] Set Name: Shadow Troopers Set #: 75079 Theme: Star Wars Pieces: 95 Minifigures: 4 Year of Release: 2015 MSRP: USD $12.99 So... I went to the SMYK store again ;) found this set there so I just HAD to grab it. Also not really a bargain but I didn't care ;) Box/Instructions Standard, small box. I think it's the same size as for all the battle packs. The same with instructions. Nothing of interest here. Parts Set contains 95 pieces. There are two bags - one bigger one smaller. There's quite a lot of transparent red parts here. I don't think there are any unusual pieces here. We do get the beloved (by everyone ;) blasters here. Also set includes additional 8 "bullets" :] Minifigures I guess this is the main reason to buy the battle packs. Here we have 4 figures, all exclusive to this set. We're getting 2x Shadow Trooper and 2x Shadow Guards. They both look really nice. The coloring on the Shadow Troopers is very neatly done. It's somewhere along the dark-gray print on a black pody piece? It looks pretty neat + the helmets are totally awesome. The Shadow Guards look OK. They don't have faces, so the heads are one big red brick. They also don't have any printing on the back. As much as the characters are very interesting... the figures don't do them justice in my opinion. The build Well, the set is really small so the build took about 5 minutes. The vehicle tho is actually REALLY nice. I thought that this set would interest me more in terms of minifigs, but the speeder or whatever it is, is actually very neat as well. I really like how they did the front and the back of it. It can carry two minifigs and has two missiles. The competed model Not much to say here... just a small photo :) Overall opinion Small but very satisfying. As much as I don't care for battle packs I do care about the Empire! ;) Having interesting minifigs + as it turns out a very cool speeder. This set was not only a "meh" buy for me. Because of it's price, I'd say don't hesitate. Minifigures: 8/10 - Shadow Troopers are really cool. The Shadow Guards tho are a bit "meh". Parts: 6/10 Build: 6/10 Price: 10/10 Design: 10/10 Playability: 9/10 Overall: 49/60 = 82% P.S. I'm sorry for the dark pictures. I decided to buy a "no-shadow-tent" or whatever you call it in english tomorrow so maybe I'll have some better pictures soon.

Hey there, this is the chosen Minifigure with a big topic: The value of the lego castle sets. Not PPP value, no. Fun value, moc value, and Minifigure value. Let's hypothetically say that I have NO castle, fantasy, Viking or other medival sets of any kind. I wish to get into the theme, already loving some other themes. I get to the store, with enough money for any of the sets, but I only want to buy one. Which set should I get, with the best Minifigure/fun value? Or, say I'm a moccer. Which set would be best? Lastly, on a personal note, Dragon mountain or Kings castle?
