The lava is beautiful! I also like the sleek design of the tower. It gives me a Lord of the Rings vibe.

With my boxcutter, I don't have to replace the legs. The only drawback is that there are filled studs in the back of the legs. Basically they just can't sit down.

The dirigible was the most fun and challenging build. It was originally 34 studs long with long feet. I couldn't make it fit so I made the feet shorter. If you go to the brickshelf link there's a good shot from below where the penguin shape really shows. The dirigible was the most fun and challenging build. Hey Peeps, I wanted to show some of my heroes now that I've mastered posting images. LOL! Jack Arcane is a science mage; able to bend reality using power supplied to him by the entity Order. Jack recently spent time hovering in Earth's orbit making the planet invisible in response to a few attempted alien invasions. Alpha was given super strength and flight during a government experiment. Omega(I) was once Alpha's sidekick before moving on to lead the Terrific Trio. Alpha leads a young group of heroes, but his motives are suspect at best. Sea Sprite is an Atlantean from an alternate timeline. In the Protector's Universe, Atlanteans are blue because of chemical warfare with the Nazis during WWII. In Sea Sprite's reality, the Axis powers never developed the technology that led to her race's genetic mutation. Spyderfang is the leader of Alpha's new recruits. Another product of experiment, Spyder's strength and agility are above normal and he has a venomous bite. He doesn't care that Alpha's methods are heavy-handed. Jack Arcane is 100% stock Lego. Alpha's torso sticker is from a clone brand, I believe. Sea Sprite's ankle wings were made by drilling small holes and fitting the wings inside. Spyderfang's torso decal is from the old Minifig Customization Network website. I don't know who made it,but I know I modified it from the original.

[Hey Folks, Being limited on the number of pics you can show made this pretty difficult to say the least. Please feel free to check the Brickshelf file once it goes public. There are over seventy photos and some of them show a great deal more detail.] It looks like the guards at Arkham Asylum left the back door open. Everyone worth their salt is out and about looking for some trouble to get in! In this first pic, we see the Lion's Den Gentlemen's Club (left) and Gotham Central Trust (right). That's the Batmobile coming out of the shadows of the alley. In the sewers, you can see Killer Crock making arrangements for Gotham City to sink to his level. Robin is hanging from the Penguin's airship, where he is remote controling the automated penguins on the ground. A couple of Gotham's finest are trying to stop them. Here we have the back view. Nothing special other than the Bat-logo on the base. As you can see, Gotham Central Trust is not the place to be! Between the tunnel rats, Scarecrow, Mr. Freeze, and Poison Ivy, the bank may be closing early today. Inside the Lion's Den, we see some gansters playing pool, a nice cozy study, and the Joker asserting himself as the new owner. Don't feel too bad for the previous owner; you can see what he did with his competition in the attic. Also in the sewers, Nightwing is disarming the boms that Killer Crock is setting. Scarecrow is using his fear toxins on our poor bank teller. Scarecrow: "Chickens? You're afraid of Chickens?" Mr. Freeze is using his freeze ray on the security guard. Mr. Freeze: "No, YOU freeze!" Poinson Ivy's plants have made a new door into the bank president's office. Poison Ivy: "Green is my favorite color." Robin is about to pay the Penguin a visit. Robin: "Holy flying penguins, Batman!" Batman has found some rif-raf hiding in the alley. There's also a good shot of the Lion's Den lion. Tommy: "Hey Sal, didn't Scarface bury that councilman around here when they was pouring the foundation?" Sal: "Nah Tommy, that's just a myth like Jimmy Hoffa. Keep diggin'; I think we're gettin' close!" Joker: "There's nothing like a little laughing gas to make for a smooth transition of ownership!" [What you may not be able to see in the background is the Joker's wanted poster on the wall and the former owner's diploma in the wastebasket behind the clowns.] I encourage you to go to my Brickshlef page linked above to see more pics! I'm especially proud of the gangsters playing pool, the Penguin's airship, Robin, and the Batmobile coming out of the shadows. Special thanks to whoever posted Robin and Nightwing's masks on the Minifig Customization Network website (years ago)! I think everything else was either stock or made by me. Good Luck, everyone!

This looks promising. Are you still working in progress or is this your final answer? If you're still working, I'd advise throwing in a little detail (like waves in the water). Very solid entry.

That's alot of fire. Also best line in the movie. Nice MOC, but it strikes me as a little plain. It's not too late to throw in some furniture or something.

The competition just stepped up a notch! That's an impressive piece of work there. I love the architectural themes. It definitely reminds me of the movie setting.

Hey folks, I was visiting relatives and stopped off at their local TRU and saw their old bricktober baggies mixed in with their other impulse baggies. I did a price check to see if they priced them for individual sale. The baggies were $0.01! I bought them out and got three spacemen and four Castle soldiers. My local TRU said they had to send theirs back. Anyone else get lucky?

I 'm going to stop looking at entries until mine is posted. I don't want to feel influenced. I'm halfway done and I want to make sure everything is my very own.

Collectable Minifigures: Feeling the Packets
Lego_Hero replied to Jedi master Brick's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I've been very fortunate in my hunting for these little guys. There must be at least one other AFOL in my area, because sometimes the prize is missing from the box. I forget which series, but there was one where it seemed only the minifig I wanted most was missing from the two boxes that were on the shelf. I think it was the elf. It wasn't long before I got my fill, and I've been able to get any number I've ever wanted to date. That being said, I only have one of most of them and three at the most of any one minifig (elf, spartan, galdiator, gorilla). I don't like it when someone comes in and gets all the [insert minifig here], but that's part of commerce. It's evident even in products that aren't blind wrapped. If iPhones sell out, do you hear a big stink about the guy that bought more than one? Probably, but do you think that changes anything? I'm sure that my opinion would be different if I couldn't get certain minifigs becasue the boxes were all picked through, but we have the internet now. Chances are, any kid who has the ability to get to a toy store probably has the ability to go online. By the way, I will be cleaning the space marines out of any box I come across! AND I feel ever apple that I buy. I can't stand soft spots! -
Has Lego ever released a 1920s gangster set?
Lego_Hero replied to Snark's topic in General LEGO Discussion
That's the picture that came to mind when I read the title, too. Lego's not going to build a theme around gang violence, no matter how elementary they try to make it. Now a theme based on eras would be possible; the 1920's theme: similar to the IJ set, complete with cars, dames, and pinstripes! -
Thanks for all the feedback so far. I knew Lego didn't sell their own transparent minifigs, but like I said, I saw one so I was hoping someone did somewhere. As for the rigidity and tightness of PC plastic, I would be content with the arm and hand being one piece, but the rest would need to be movable to be worth owning. There was a seller in Taiwan that has/had accessories (mostly armor, weapons, hair) in several trans colors. I forgot about him until just now. No minifigs, but it's got me in the mood for trans swords! Why can't you have clear ABS like you can have clear plastic PC? What does ABS look like before you add the color?

How can i straighten out a 16X32 plate?
Lego_Hero replied to ACWWgal2011's topic in General LEGO Discussion
That may work in some cases, but I had the same problem once with some large MB plates and I left weight evenly distributed on them for months (I forgot about them in my closet) and they kept the bend after I took off the weight. Try gently bending it the opposite way. This has worked for me. Congrats on the find, by the way. I scored four early 2000's Bionicles at my local Salvation Army last month. Last year I found a disassembled minifig sitting on a pool table there. It was from Castle circa 1990's. I assembled it and the cashier told me to keep it b/c it probably had no value (to them, anyway). -
Hey peeps, I've tried the EB search and even Googled it... I was wondering if anyone knew of transcolored minifigs being manufactured and sold? I've seen a blue one that Brick Arms or Forge or someone like that did, but no evidence that it was mass produced for sale. I made a transclear minifig once by hacking and gluing transclear pieces. It looks like a minifig in general, but nowhere near enough to post here. The purists would likely hunt me down just for the amount of pieces I had to cut up. Any help would be appreciated.

LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 7 Discussion
Lego_Hero replied to whung's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I love reading from posts where someone says they don't buy these or they have completely different favorites than mine. The range of tastes on this forum is from one end of the spectrum to the other. Fantastic. It's like our own little united nations melting pot! Anyway, I'm not a big fan of the cloth grass skirt on the hula dancer or the skirt on the figure skater, but I like the way the kilt looks. If I were displaying the Highlander, I'd put the Bagpiper's kilt on him. However, I agree with the previous post: the Highlander probably doesn't have a cloth kilt because of the pose-ability factor. -
LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 7 Discussion

Please pardon my back-to-back posts, but I wanted to rank these guys from favorite to least. 1. Space Marine. This was the closest race b/c the Aztec is also first rate. This guy wins b/c every piece has multiple uses. 2. Aztec. Had the weapon been the traditional machette/hatchet-thing (similar to the exsisting chainsaw) they use, this guy would have won. 3. Stuntman. The torso alone makes this guy a must-have. 4. Knight. The leg and face printing and possibility of torso printing carry this guy. 5. Viking. Torso, face, and helmt/hair. Nuff Said. 6. Bagpipes. In addition to what we see, you know he's going to have a new torso print. 7. Rocker. Solid 80's Gold! 8. Red Riding Hood. Hood and half-cape. Does that face scream fairie to you if you add elf hair? 9. Swimmer. Black cap. Bikini. Medal. 10. Bride. Torso print could be awesome. 11. Neptune. Crown and mermaid piece. What if there is a necklace under that beard? 12. Tennis Player. I want that hair! 13. Hippie. Again, hair. 14. Bunnysuit. Don't get me wrong, he's so cool, but I would never use him in anything. 15. Office Geek. Sweater vest. Bow tie. 16. Jungle Boy. Nothing really new here. There's even a torso print from the old customization website that looks similar to this torso. -
LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 7 Discussion
Lego_Hero replied to whung's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Needless to say I was stunned when I saw the High Rez pics of Series 7 this weekend. Good thing I wasn't at work; I'd have gotten nothing done the rest of the day! Keeping in mind my slant for making superheroes, here is my opinion of the minifigs of this series: Pink Rocker: Drop the guitar and the outfit screams cheesy 1980's villainess with electricity powers. I'll use her just the way she is. Office Nerd: I don't have that hair piece yet and I like the sweater vest. Bride: Beautiful face, hair, and crown. I like the new plant design. It's much better for holding. I'm really looking forward to getting a better look at the torso. Aztec: This one floors me. They outdid themselves on this guy. The gold head dress is out of this world. The torso and leg printing are awesome. I like the little golden head detail on the torso. I already have two Aztec hero/villains, but this guy might take thier place. I might be most excited about the face print. It has superhero mask written all over it. Stuntman: This guy is easily from the 70's/80's. The face and hair combo is spot on. That torso is going to make a great 70's patriotic hero. I wonder if his legs have printing? All I can see is the blue waist. Just noticed the helmet, that's pretty cool. Bagpipe Guy: Bagpipes are cool. Nice touch with the frosty brows on the face. Cool new hat. I don't care much for the cloth kilt, but I know there's not really a better way to make a kilt on a minifig. I can't wait to see the torso. Two words for epic coolness: argyle socks! Viking: I think if they were going for the opera look, it would have turned out different, so this must be a "real" viking. An opera viking would have had a valkyrie (golden, round 'chest' plates) look to it. I really dig the torso, but the helmet/hair is waht I'm after. I've been thinking of how to pull that off by customizing pieces. I'm glad they saved me the effort. Really pretty face. I already have a hero that'll be getting a face lift. Space Marine: I saw this one before I saw the Aztec and about fell out of my seat. Several months ago, one of the Lego Store magazinges had renderings of minifigs from the different guilds from LU. They were done similar to how Lego shows the CMS guys, so I thought maybe they were going to release them. Sadly I was mistaken, but they looked so awesome, I've been working on modding exsisting pieces to try to come close. This guy is exactly the look I was going for! I don't think the armor is too bulky. The helmet is 1000 times better than the one that's been used in SP and Alien Conquest. I hated how tall that one was. I know some people don't like the face print, but with this helmet, I think it works. I too wonder if his whole head is orange. I'll get at least two of these b/c the leg and torso printing looks cool enough to be used apart from the armor. I also like the gun in black. Jungle Boy: I guess I'll get one just to have it. I don't really need another bare chest or monkey. Hippie: Hair and torso rock, dude! Bunny Suit: Cute. I'll get one just to have it, but I can't think of a real use (for what I do, anyway). Knight: The leg printing is too cool! I hope the torso is printed as well. I'm not a big fan of that type armor piece, but the print job makes it look cool. Really digging the sword. The face print is great (red eyes!). I'm going to say boar with long hair coming off its snout. It's just too hairy-looking to be a rhino, and boars were more commonly used than rhinos back then. Swimmer: I don't have a medal, so that's cool. I like the swimmer's cap. The bikini bottom is nice, but I like the thought of using the torso as the top of a dress. Red Riding Hood: Creepy large face. Why does Lego make children's faces larger than adult faces? Loving the red hood and half-cape. I guess it's good to have a basket, but I don't know what I'd do with it. Tennis Player: I like his hair the best. The face print is okay. I don't know that I'd ever use the rest of him. Neptune: Crown with hair piece: awesome! I'd love one of the new mermaid pieces. Soon my collection of tridents will be complete. It's like they throw these in with every set now. -

Did anyone save pics other than the alien? I like the alien torso and am now excited that it looks like another robot may be coming. The first robot still has one of Lego's best helmets EVER. -
How used is "used" on bricklink?
Lego_Hero replied to antsiranean's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I don't buy there often, but I've had pretty good luck with all but one store. It's been so long that I don't remember which, but I had several problems. I wanted blank yellow heads (new) so I could use my own decals, but they gave me old heads with the faces worn away. Not the same thing, I argued. I got them to send replacements. All three leg assemblies were chewed on. Who chews on legs? I'm guilty of the occasional bite-on-stud to get a piece loose, but why would anyone put legs assemblies in their mouth? I suggested that they were beyond the seller's definition of used and got replacements. This represents one negative story against probably ten satisfied transactions. -

This has definitely been the Year of the Minifig. With all the CMF series and news of super heroes coming, I've never been more impressed with this brand. As for this series so far, keeping in mind that I collect these guys for parts to use in my own superhero universe: Statue of Liberty: Yeah! I need the green female face. The hair/crown has so many apps, but I agree with whoever said they'd paint it. It would make a great Ancient Greek goddess headpiece. Alien: Very Roswellian. Little green men from outer space are supposed to look like this. The head has really grown on me. It's really creepy! I get a Doctor Who chill whenever I see it. I actually like the torso, though not so much for this particular minifig. It's always nice to get more red hands. I wish they would let the space girl keep her ray gun and give him a new mold. Space Girl: Forget that it's pink for a moment, that's one of the coolest space prints in the history of Lego. The combination of the classic space theme logo with the extra detail TLC uses now really comes off looking spectacular. I've already got a use and a backstory ready to go. And the hair looks awesome. Leprechaun: This would be really cool to have one of, but I don't particularly need any of these parts. Butcher: I'm taking his hat and painting it green for my army men. Mechanic: The first thing I saw was the Elvis hair. Nice toolbox, too. Minotaur: I'll actually get a few of these! I can already see that I'll be using the torso and legs separately from the head. They're just too cool to waste on one minifig. I might paint the head black and use and all-black torso/leg look. I'm stunned by this one. Of the ten, I think this is the army-builder. Genie: Three nights ago I was up late and made a group of heroes from the 1950's and Alladin was one of them. I was wracking my brain to figure out what to use for a golden lamp. Ta-dah! I wonder if the piece on the front of the turban is removable? There is usually a small hole there, so it would be cool if that was a separate piece. Skater: Great as a minifig. I'll be able to find uses for all those new parts. I do wish we could get something besides a skateboard, though. Highlander: It is a little dark, so I may hold judgement until a brighter pic can be taken. Nice sword and nice prints if they show up better in person. FREEDOM! All-in-all this could be one of the best series. I'll reserve my opinion until the other six are shown. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 5 discussion
Lego_Hero replied to eiker86's topic in Special LEGO Themes
My Toys R Us claims they had some this morning and that they were sold out. Highly doubtful since I was in there yesterday afternoon and again today shortly after calling. There's no place set up for Series 5 (not even an empty space where a box could have been). A whole box and then some of Series 4 is still out. The guy on the phone said they'd get more Friday. The people at this store NEVER have a clue when it comes to Lego. I've had to explain things to them before.
