  1. Regarding the magnet sets. You can release them from their magnet block with a box cutter, but you have to cut through the two studs that fix the magnet to the legs. I've managed to do this with all of my magnet sets. You're left with the studs still in the legs, but I read you can get those out. I'd but this set just for Robin!
  2. Nightwing comes to mind. I bought the torso and printed his mask and applied it to a head I already had. I think I already had the hair from Exoforce. Buying a full minifig worth of parts would probably be close to the real cost, but I got by just spending a few bucks and using existing parts.
  3. It's nice for a statue, but there's too much on top of it's head.
  4. How about a lion? I built this at least a year ago, but it showed up in the Batman/Gotham City contest a few months ago as part of a building. I've always wanted to do a vignette, but I've been spending most of my Lego time sorting lately.
  5. That is one cool lion. It looks like it belongs in front of a library! It also reminds me of the Sphinx, only with a lion head. I'll bet there's a way to switch heads. Definitely top notch, ACPin! And someone has a MOC that I will be checking for in the next few weeks. Just from what we can see in the background, that is going to be one sweet building. Yay, Romans! I also have a lion that I've been meaning to post, but I'll start another topic. I'm not sure it would be appropriate to post a MOC in someone else's thread about their MOC.
  6. I'm a minifig guy so I buy sets if they have good minis or if there are good parts. Some times I don't even build the sets before sorting them for storage. And the sets I do put together don't stay together long. I really don't have display room.
  7. True, but if you told me, "third row middle", I would be able to narrow down the search. I check my TRU frequently so I usually have a box or to to go through that hasn't been messed up too horribly.
  8. This minfig looks like it could be awesome, but I want to see what's under the armor before I shell out ten bucks. Could someone please upload pics that meet the high standards we'be been spoiled with?
  9. Find a yellow sticker, cut it out in the shape of a lightening bolt, and put it on the back of that torso. The cape will cover the space logo and you would have a spot-on Captain Marvel. Nice Jimmy Olsen. Good enough that I think I could have guessed with a small clue or two. Its funny how putting a name to a minifig can make you perceive the minifig that way. If TLG made a Jimmy Olsen, I think it would look very similar.
  10. I know, but I had already mistakenly identified the laser gun as a lamp, so I quit looking since I only wanted one. Sadly, I recognized a plume and a turban and threw those baggies back since I thought I already had a genie. I've been feeling the baggies since the second series and have only made two mistakes counting this one, so I'm not doing too bad. Plus, I'm now glad I have two aliens. I just wish someone could tell me which part of the box I can find a genie in. Am I crazy or didn't someone know that information in a previous series?
  11. Me too. Series five is the first to be offered at one of the local wal-marts and my TRU has four boxes on the shelf. By the way, needing that Genie to complete my collection- anyone know where he is in the box? Seems to me in at least one series the box distribution was uniform. That sure would save me time looking for one Genie.
  12. Definitely a fort. You can see a western wagon to the right of the fort.
  13. I just picked up 19 at the Target in Tyler, Texas. I thought I had a complete set plus extra Romans and minotaurs, but I goofed and mistook an alien's gun for the Genie's lamp. There seemed to be two boxes worth on an endcap at $ 2.99 each. I didn't know the alien's eye came out a bit from the head. I'm glad I got the extra. Though this marks the last complete set for me. I could have done without a few of them in favor of more extras.
  14. I try not to complain too much about TRU's mark-ups b/c I know how much some people in other countries pay, but since someone else started it... They had the Catwoman set for $17.99! They also had sets that were on clearance before Christmas marked up for unsuspecting patents. Star Wars battle packs for $16.99 instead of $11.99. I take advantages of their BOGOs when I can. I rationalize the occasional mark-up with the fact that I've scored twenty-something Bricktober minifigs there for a penny each.
  15. I got two complete Ben 10 figures in one bag last time. I passed up a bag once that seemed to be all random decorated tiles. I wish I'd picked that one up.
  16. I have a 3'x3' card table with foldable legs that I pull out of the closet when I have a project. If I'm just working with minifigs, I use my computer desk.
  17. Wow, just wow! Spot on with the Joes. I could name most of them without looking at the names. And some of the Masters of the Universe were easy too.
  18. I have eight of the Stack On cabinets and a rolling cart with drawers. There's also four boxes in the attic that house my empty bionicle/Hero Factory containers. I am nearing the end of sorting the FIFTEEN pounds of Lego I bought a few weeks ago and the dis-assembled MOC for the Batman contest. It has taken so long to sort that I am leary of joining the Historica guilds just becasue I don't want to clean up the mess! LOL!
  19. Absolutely right. Sometimes I put pieces up against minifigs just to see if they would look good affixed to them.
  20. Thanks. The first time I bought them off of bricklink I bought two of the same side. I believe that particular drill bit is also the one I use tho make arm holes.
  21. Is the poor quality of the sword a factor of inadequate melting temperature or poor molding? I'm vaguely interested if the process can be improved.
  22. Looks great. I especially like the guy next to the crossbow guy. Now where are you going to post your decals? I'd like to try that torso if that's okay.
  23. I'll apply a sticker if it's an instance where applying makes the brick/slope/tile usable in different ways, such as computer screens, signs, hieroglyphics, etc. I won't if it's just a racing stripe or limits a rare part's function, such as an odd-shaped panel or slope that could be used in more ways without the sticker. I also keep the stickers for use in MOCs down the road and more importantly for customizing minifigs. I've bought small sets (and even clone brand sets) just for the decals, so you can see where my opinion slants.
  24. I'm going to give that scewdriver trick a try. I was in my local TRU today and found a bricktober ninja on the shelf! The price checker said $.01 so I threw it in my basket. I picked out two sets to take advantage of their bogo 50% off offer. Of course the computer gave me 50% off the ninja! Her screen showed the ninja as free. The other sets were $9.99 each, so I convinced her to take the 50% off of one of those sets. I think her math was fuzzy, though. I basically got out of there without paying sales tax. AND the ninja still read $0.00 on the receipt. Nothing like a free minifig!
  25. Maybe they like sunbathing? Beach blanket bingo?
