Bionicle 2008 Images and Discussion
Ikki o' Moopyville replied to VBBN's topic in LEGO Action Figures
Pardon me... but where did we learn this thing that the Phantoka/villains were Makuta? I sincerely doubt that's the case, since, um, the Nuva would then be dead by the time the first comic is out. Sounds more like servants of the Brotherhood to me. An' s'rry fer th' crap. :-P -Ikk -
These do look great! *sweet* Even better than I hoped! No new torso for the knight, but the accessories make up for that. Will likely be gettin' -- Knight x 5-10, great army builder if the price stays at $2-$3... otherwise, the CA set may be a better pack. Wizard x 3, great pieces, good face, torso & Gandalf hat, and the best fig since the Ol' Blue Wizard! MM Robot, just for the fig an' 'cause it's cute. *sweet* MM Jelly Jet, nice design, great new piece, good supply of older ones, too. Still, we need more civilians, for both Castle and City -- but a huge step in the right direction nonetheless. *y* -Ikk

Not sure who you're talking to... I don't hate the story. :-| And I don't remember anything else than Nocturn being in a bad mood. :-D But as I already said, this WOULD be better in the story topic. So, no more posts from me 'ere, at least about this. -Ikk -

That's not it. There ARE explanations for everything, just takes a bit of creativity -- just like the examples Helden posted a few comments up! But Greg writes it off as "too deep" and "different 'cuz it is." THAT is what's wrong. -Ikk -

I'm certain he realizes it, given how much time he spends on BZP with folks such as bones. Thing is, he doesn't care. -Ikk -

But including freakishly improbable stuff in story WITHOUT explanation is still shallow and cheap, no matter how good the main story is. Sad thing is, the main fanbase does consist of kids who don't care about much more than how far the sets' guns can shoot. -Ikk -

We care for details and reasons because we aren't shallow kids who eat everything fed to us by Greg. And we are here because we enjoy SOME ASPECTS of Bionicle, just not everything. -Ikk -

Well, whatever you think. I don't think it sucks, I just think there are great points and lame points. But if all you can come up with is a feeble attempt at sarcasm, we better end this debate -- it's already waaay off topic. ;-) -Ikk -

My point is that it was unnecessary, and was just something ridiculously unlikely that Greg threw in for laughs. Nocturn was in a bad mood, he hit the ground with his fist, it broke in half. I'd have to strain myself to think of something more lame. -Ikk -

No, the problem is that Greg does whatever he feels like without giving explanations. Like Nocturn beaking his island in half for the sake of it. And you can lay off the sarcasm. ;-) -Ikk -

Ice does sink -- read Prisoners of the Pit. Matoro froze Pridak and Takadox in a chunk of ice, which then "sank like a stone." And knowing Greg right, they're not gonna reveal why Voya Nui did float, nor why it and Mata Nui could have volcanoes without links to the planet core. To name a few things. -Ikk -

Does that explain why ice sinks or why islands floats? I would respect it if he actually took his time to explain the physics, but just saying "it's different 'cuz it is" is lame. -Ikk -

Yes, that's Greg's regular excuse whenever he can't be bothered to explain something. ;-) But that does not answer my question -- in what environment would you have placed a Village of Lightning? Best I can think of is in the mountains, but the Ko-Koronans pretty much already got that. It's a really cool element, but wouldn't make for such a cool region. Stormy mountains at its best, but deserts still win. BTW, this may be better off in the Bionicle story topic. :-P -Ikk -

Has everyone forgotten? They could make tons of elements, yes, but they need an environment, too, especially on Mata Nui -- deserts/mountains and the underground are very different. But where would you have placed electricity? In a village of power plants? :-P That would've worked on Metru Nui, but not on ol' Mata Nui. -Ikk -

How did they get away with Knight's Kingdom II, then? Or the Inika immediately following the Piraka? Or, heck, all those System catapults! X-D -Ikk -
You can call me anything from Ikk to Izizly -- just be aware that I may start stalking you on those grounds. *sweet* An' of course, a new human faction would be most welcome! Robbers/bandits, forestmen, or another kingdom... oh, the possibilities.

How 'bout Elves?! Doesn't seem unlikely to me that this special set could contain a sneak peek into the line of 2009, not entirely unlike the Dwarfs Mining -- only with Elves! Or, at least, a new faction of some kind! -Ikk

Yup, 'twas him! The oldies are always good. -Ikk -
Whoa, that's sweet! I'll be getting a ton of that soldier, for sure, look at the accessories! And at least a couple of the magician for parts. That is one great Gandalf hat. Though I thought the sentry was supposed to have a new torso? Still, army buildin' ON! -Ikk

I honestly felt the whole "let's be bad 'cuz we CAN" idea got old pretty soon, but that's me. Although I'd agree Zaktan was rather nice. Karzahni was fairly all right in DD, but hardly in DoD. But that whole story does feel poorly done. My favorites among Greg's villains would be Nidhiki, Takadox, and Pridak, story-wise purely. And Mavrah, oh, good ol' Mavrah. -Ikk -

Heh, I disagree. :-P While the Barraki are very well done in the books, the Piraka had as much character as Mount Valmai. I actually feel the Toa and Matoran had great developments this year, for the most part -- all of them, as opposed to only Jaller & Matoro last year. Unfortunately, all Titans since, and in, 2006 have been rather lacking, IMO. Karzahni always struck me as pretty much a copy of Makuta, character-wise. But thumps up for Gar & Defilak. -Ikk -

Well, the 'universe' in Bionicle refers to the Domes only, so nothing on or off the planet would be affected. *sweet* -Ikk -

Look at the neck-piece, it's missing the rectangular holes -- just a plain surface. Aye, but they don't yet. :-P -Ikk
