Bionicle 2009 Images and Discussion
Ikki o' Moopyville replied to VBBN's topic in LEGO Action Figures
Aye, I thought of that after posting this... basically, it could go something like this. Mata Nui discovers remnants of dead Great Spirit on Bara Magna. Following the defeat of Tuma he initiates the reconstruction of the fragmented being, instructing the Agori and Glatorian in assembling the parts. Then somehow MN's spirit possesses that new body and he soars off to find Makuta. Along the way he learns of the Three that must be One and somehow the Two Great Spirits stop The Shattering and Meld back together Spherus Magna. Then, to end the Reign of Shadows once and for all, Mata Nui battles the Makuta and kills him, sending his body onto the nearest planet. Jaller uses the Ignika to revive the Makuta GS body, but before Makuta's spirit can return, Takanuva, equipped with an Iden, enters the brain core chamber beneath Metru Nui. With the Toa Nuva awakening the body, Takakuva becomes the third Great Spirit and the ruler of light in the Matoran universe. -Ikk -

Had a thought... "The Three that must be One, the Two that must make the One." Could the Two be Mata Nui and the possibly dead Great Spirit on Bara Magna? Provided there's just one there of course. -Ikk -

Seems like The Shattering affected larger parts of the cosmos. I'm thinking either rains of Energized Protodermis or a rain of Great Spirits. =D -Ikk -

Some advice for those of you who have the Bionicle Heroes soundtrack -- by suggestion of HOTC, the Reidak themes are ideal for Bara Magna, especially Reidak's Desert Low (surprise XD). The whole wasteland feel 2009 this map conveys is immense. And I love the UDD compass! -Ikk -

Mata Nui! Literally! Tons of geographical names... broken Great Spirits buried in the sands... Toa Mata Nui looking awesome... White Quartz Mountains. That's so it, '09 beats '04 and ranks alongside '01. =D -Ikk -

I love that they HAVE names! We haven't had Bionicle-named minor locations since... Mount Valmai, and that was the only one of the year. -Ikk -

Colors are a big part of why I prefer Tarix over Skrall and Malum... plus the weapons, which is second only to Skrall's buzzshield. He may be an Inika-clone, but he's perfection at that. =D -Ikk -

I love Tarix. =O He is by far better than Malum and Skrall, what with those fantastic colors and the watery / fishbone style. -Ikk -

... why do these lids remind me of half-eaten peaches? On another note, generic though they may look, they ain't bad at all. Mata Nui makes me want more pics of these fellas! ^_^ -Ikk -

My guess is that, in the real world, they failed to save Spherus Magna in time and had to create something large enough to retrieve the scattered pieces of the planet. Still, I doubt Mata Nui was built to do just that... if that was the extent of the problem, the GBs could have simply found another planet to live on. Besides, it seems the Shattering had a large impact on Bara Magna as well. Very intriguing stuff. -Ikk -

Apparently from BS01. No idea why they're starting to put up 2009 info only now, or how they got those names. EDIT: BIA8 is up! Short, but hints of the Shattering, the gerography of Paradise -- and we may get to see the GREAT BEINGS! -Ikk -
It's the same part, it's just that the Hordika arms are attached differently. Would love the torso if only it were less flat... otherwise Kongu rocks, especially with that sweet mask. =D -Ikk

I love the Mahri, but I still prefer the Mata over the Phantistika. Heck, I prefer the Tohunga over the Inika. xD If it were just rose-colored glasses, I wouldn't love these new fellas as much, though. =D -Ikk -

Bleh to articulation, it ain't everything. The Mata had some great appearances that matched their elements and personalities, and their pieces were incredibly useful. They had a fun play feature and gave birth to the concept of masks, which was never as awesome as in that year. Every aspect of them contributed to a fierce, mystical, somewhat bizzarre, and primitive yet high-tech look. No sets look cooler than the Mata. =D EDIT: O yay, I be a knight. -Ikk -

Worst ever Bionicle design.
Ikki o' Moopyville replied to The Crazy One's topic in LEGO Action Figures
Agreed. The elite Toa of the Metru era are some of noblest looking we've had, and they are molded after what is probably the best Toa design yet. Gears AND possibility, human proportions for those who want it, and fantastic masks. At the time, the colors were exciting too, though they're worn out by now. As for 2005's lineup, the Visorak broke away from clonism and the Rahaga were plain cute. Plus, as you say, it had the Hagah. EDIT: Oh, and Krika may be a Mistika, but he blows away any other 2008 set. ^_^ -Ikk -

Not possible. Spherus Magna is the Great Beings' homeworld. Where'd you find the Certavus bit though? -Ikk -

Maybe the Antidermis made him independent of oxygen? After all, Makuta need not breathe. The biggest screw-up in serials I've found was in Into the Darkness, last chapter: A lone drop of water... underwater? XD Greg's a landlubber. -Ikk -

I liked this chapter. It sets the stage for the final battles, below and in Metru Nui, which is very fitting. Hewkii finally gets to have some character rather than just being one of a team who can do nothing but save the universe. What happens in Mata Nui's brain was no surprise, but at least we can expect some of the greatest beings in the history of Bionicle to challenge the Makuta. I want to get rid of all this alternate stuff, though... it's blarg, not to mention igh. Oh, and Bink somewhy thinks Metru Nui and Mata Nui are the same. XD -Ikk -
