  1. Thanks for the comments! Chinese junk store?! I'll junk store you! It's supposed to be a pirate ship, not a pleasure cruise! It looks a lot more like a pirate ship than the overly-fancy vessels TLG would release! About the color scheme, did you notice the ship's captain matches it? Man, though... why didn't The LEGO Group put front sails with the 1996 ships? It's a blessing and dumb luck that the Armada Flagship came with one that you could use for that!
  2. Awesome! I saw this one before I joined the community, actually. It seems like something that would fit right in to the recent Pirates line! But why are those Islanders being so well-behaved?
  3. Yes, you can make something good out of that ship. I am surprised I left it as a plain Crossbone Clipper as long as I did. Safe to say, I am never changing it back! Check it out!
  4. OMG, where can I see more, larger pictures of the ship in your signature? That thing is incredible! OH, you made an issue of format? Is it just because you made the ship using an older version of the software that you can't order it?
  5. Those are pretty nice! But darn, no specialty pieces in Lego Digital Designer? You gonna' order the part sets and make them for real?
  6. I was talking about the swords. How do you get the harder ones?
  7. Looking better than before although I think the prow could use some sprucing up. Maybe fill in the gaps and make it more streamlined. That thing looks like it cost lots of Imperial Flagships (10210) to build! How are you not broke?
  8. You're welcome. I just now noticed you were the same one who commented on my ship. Nice story! Hahaha.
  9. Also, there may not be many comments but at least nearly 200 people looked at my ship. And, what do you recommend for cleaning? I am gonna' buy a new can of compressed air today. Please don't say to wash with soap and water. Do you know much a pain in the neck it is to dismantle those ships with all that rigging, and such? Not to mention, I don't exactly have instructions for things I created myself.
  10. A simple, but nice design. You have some pretty cool figures there, as well. It is a shame we never got any middle gray hull sections though, eh? Or black ones for that matter.. How do they keep from setting their ship on fire, though?
  11. Hmm, I think the heads are awesome. They're very expressive and full of character! Are you mad there was no mustache pirates?
  12. Hah thanks. Yeah Brickmaster (I was about to ask if that is an alt but I realized they aren't allowed here. ) I probably could make some modifications to change it from the Imperial Flagship. Although, if I am honest it really did start out as a modified one and slowly evolved like this. But, you have to admit that it's a good basis! Oh, I will be posting in the Sci-fi forum pretty soon. I made some pretty cool spaceships that I'm planning on sharing, a big pirate port, a cutter and a small pirate ship, and some cool town vehicles.
  13. Well, hello to everyone again. I decided that for my first "MOC" that I would share; I would show you the one I am most proud of. I have many others that I have made that I will get up eventually. But for now, feast your eyes on the HMS... well, I can't think of a name! I thought of Phoenix... sounds cool, but doesn't really go with it in any way, nor does Enterpise which is unoriginal and inaccurate to the ship's design, which may not have ever existed, I confess, anyway! Any suggestions? Here is a nice establishing shot. Head on angle. A side shot where you can see the various crew at work. Slightly tilted angle of the last view. These roof panels open to reveal the wheelhouse/cabin interior. A rear angle view shows off the detailing at the stern of the ship. Slightly different angle shows off more features. As you can see, the treasure holding area can also be manned. A view of the bow's interior show's a soldier napping on his bed. You can also see the lower deck cannons. The anchor mechanism. Here you can see the cook at work below the bridge area. A reverse angle to show you his stove with cooking bowl atop it. Here you can see the stove I made unobstructed. The Admiral and Lieutenant meeting and discussing future plans. Top view of the same scene. The trusty crew. Some other angles, minus mini-figures. For some reason, the camera changes the blue sometimes. Partially deconstructed front deck reveals a better view of the anchor mechanism. The anchor deployed. Another view of this. Well, there she is. Have to say this one has gone through many versions and I think I am finally satisfied with it. I had been wanting to add those lanterns to the front for quite some time! Please forgive perhaps the some of the shoddy camera work and some design elements borrowed from Imperial Flagship. I'm not a pro photographer and I worked with what I had, heh. Also, I really liked some of those design elements, and I figured, in the case of the sails, if it ain't broke, don't fix it! Questions, comments, constructive criticism are all welcome.
  14. Where did you hear this? Is this true?! Anyway, I think the only reason we were cheated this year was that they canceled the line! Why would they do this! Pirates were always one of the most popular and high-selling Themes! I had tons of those sets as a kid, and as a result, countless sharks! Plus, the color scheme and pieces, and creative design is great. By the way, does anyone know if that new light brown is a new color or is meant to replace the old brown? It doesn't seem the same as the old brown of ship hulls, boats, barrels, monkeys, chests, crates, the later "tree pieces", etc... Anyway, even if the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie sucks, who cares! The sets would be awesome! Imagine a Lego-designed Dauntilus (I think that was the ship's name). It would be awesome! Might they have to design even wider hull sections?!
  15. Oh, I have been out of them for quite a while. I think it's funny that such a term was invented though. I had one of those! I seem to remember the last sets I had (before Dark Ages) being from the Fright Knights and Johnny Thunder. But, this is my first time posting on any community. I did check this place out before though and I've read some other reviews on some ancient and probably long-abandoned websites.
  16. That was a nice little review you did there for a truly classic set. This was the first and only LEGO ship I had as a child. I was always annoyed I didn't have any pirate ships to battle it, although I cherished this one. I actually had a chance to get Renegade Runner, but chose Rock Island Refuge instead. Ahh, the memories! So of course, I had to re-buy this as an adult. Although, I still have the old sails and other pieces to my old ship, so I am sure that offers some good customizing abilities! Though I have since used the pieces from the old Imperial Flagship along with other pieces to make a custom ship, pictures and reviews like this can remind me what it was like. Yes, I always figured that that guy that came with it could be a sailor, or a prisoner, slave, etc... not necessarily a pirate. He's even manning the wheel in one of the pics!
  17. Haha, thanks for the help, man. That definitely clears a few things up. Thanks everyone for the welcomes.
  18. Nope, nope, check it out - http://www.peeron.com/inv/sets/6286-1?showpic=1200 So, you were saying your rifle is like the newer or older sets with your reissue? In any case, I'm sure a lot of the older sets we've bought off Ebay and the like probably didn't have the 89 accessories (if these were the "harder" ones) simply because that stuff gets lost easily, but they were nice enough throw in some weapons, and maybe some extra mini-figures.
  19. Nice to meet you all! The name is Ben, I'm currently 26 and reside in central Texas. It is so cool that a place like this exists. I had no idea! I found it via some web perusals for information on LEGO stuff and whatnot, and I found the set reviews and pictures of people's custom LEGO creations to be quite interesting! I've been a fan of these wonderful little bricks since I was a kid. I remember having the basic bin ones where you could build all kinds of stuff (I remember making a windmill at some point), and I also had quite a few of the themed sets! Yeah, I was quite the spoiled brat. Hoo boy! Favorite theme? Well, I liked just about all of them, practically. But I really liked Pirates, Space, Castle, Town, Aquazone, etc.. I am a big fan of trains and model railroading but amazingly I never had any LEGO train sets! For shame! I used to have tons of the stuff but I am afraid most of my old sets are broken up and cannibalized these days, so... years later, after my last LEGO S&H catalog had long since arrived in the mail, I decided to get back into them, and re-buy some of the sets I used to have, as well make some childhood dreams come true! My interests include LEGO (of course), drawing, reading, writing, hockey, wrestling, hiking, camping, fishing, Anime, TV channels like History, Discovery, TruTV, Sci-fi, Animal Planet, various TV shows and movies, Transformers (how awesome would LEGO TFs be?!), Star Wars (again, cannot believe I have no LEGO Star Wars sets!), comic books, tropical fish, etc... the list could go on for quite some time. Suffice to say I am a collector and I have many hobbies that my interest often wanes and increases between, with a few that stay pretty steady. I will enjoy looking forward to discussing stuff about LEGO and it seems there is quite the lingo for me to learn as I never realized such a huge community existed online! I also will probably post some pictures of my custom LEGO creations but I am not sure how they will measure up to some of the splendorous creations I have seen here, from people with obviously far more LEGO bricks in their collections!
  20. That's an excellent review there, Svelte. I was actually hoping there might be other reviews for this on the site, or elsewhere, but this is the only one I have found! That's quite amazing, really! Maybe people are too busy drooling at their ships to write a review about it. I remember when I first saw the name of this set listed on the Lego S&H website (does this replace the old S&H catalog I used to get?) and I thought cool, they are finally coming out with some new sets, and expected to click on it and see a medium-sized Imperial ship like in the old days. Then I saw it and I was like wow... holy... they did it, they really did it! They finally made a large Imperial ship, and with three masts, one of them even being triple-sailed at that! Amazing! I must have gazed over it's pictures and read user's reviews there for weeks before finally getting up the gumption to ask for this for my birthday. Haha. It's the one thing I asked for for my birthday and I must say it was totally worth it! It took me 2 days to build and I must say it is one of my favorite Lego ships ever! It ranks up there with the greats. Plus, who thought there would ever be something to make the Skulls Eye Schooner look small! Incredible, just incredible LEGO! But then I find out that the new Pirates is being discontinued (again, they cancel one of their most popular lines for the second time?!) and the new Imperial Flagship isn't one of the next series of Pirates sets to come but possibly the last and technically a specialty item. I really hope that the other sets don't sell out fast as I only have the aforementioned 10210, Cannon Battle, Loot Island, and the 2 impulse sets. I wanted to get at least the Brickbeard's Bounty and Soldier's Fort! It also looks like there will be no way for me to get the Pirate's Hideout (the shipwreck one) for a reasonable price. *sigh* Anyway, sorry for the long post, slight off-topic, and my borderline mini-review, but... I guess I am just new here and I had a lot to say, and this seems to be a well-trafficked thread. I probably should have joined this place long ago when I first found out about it. A fan group for fans of classic pirates, too awesome! P.S. I may post some of my custom sets soon but I don't know how they will compare to some of these amazing ones I have seen from people with apparently much more Lego bricks in their collection!
  21. I actually have one of those hard cutlasses and I have no idea where it came from, either. I decided since it seemed so special, to use it for the figurehead on the Skulls Eye Schooner to hold. By the way, I am new to these forums although I have checked them out before, to read reviews, and look at the amazing custom sets people build, among other things. Is there anywhere we are supposed to introduce ourselves are do we just start posting? By the way, you guys use only Lego emoticons? That is too cool!
