REVIEW: 10210 Imperial Flagship
Skulls_Eye_Schooner_Sailor replied to Svelte's topic in LEGO Pirates
I got an email telling about a build a classic sailing ship I thought LEGO had released another ship but it was just this one; which I already have. -
Where did you see such pictures? Oh my God, it's a Lego truck that carries Lego sets! How did they design such a detailed and photo-realistic tile?!
-
Very nice, but I thought you were actually selling it. Too bad Where did you get those letters?
-
I was just thinking the same thing. Wait, whaaa?! I just looked at the 2010 pictures thread, they are actually coming out with a full airport?! And that Air Force One is too cool, when is that coming out? (It has a limo!)

Review: 6349 Holiday Villa Review
Skulls_Eye_Schooner_Sailor replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Town
This is an awesome set, man... and a great review. Just too bad it is so rare! I voted 5. By the way, does anyone know if there is a review for this? Or other sets that come with a camper, perhaps? Also, I was wondering if the creator houses are in scale and could be used with minifigs and such. -
A great plane, even if I don't care for that giant nose and cockpit piece that is all one piece.... but how does a plane, luggage car and and radio tower constitute an "airport"?
-
That truck looks very nice. Seems like an update of the classic Legoland truck plus a trailer! Neato! Anyway folks, I thought I would introduce myself to the town section as I will be posting some MOCs soon.

REVIEW - 6277 Imperial Trading Post

You may be onto something there. The one I bought wasn't exactly cheap and there was quite a bidding war there at the end! -
REVIEW - 6277 Imperial Trading Post
Skulls_Eye_Schooner_Sailor replied to funkybrick's topic in LEGO Pirates
Haha yeah... that ladder thing always bugs me. I actually modified it so the ladder at the top is at the back, it looks nicer that way. But really, you need three ladders, unless the guards climb up to the second level and then flip the ladder up to reach the top. Whoo, now I don't feel so bad for paying arm and leg for mine with the box. No sails and missing mini-figs! It probably is lacking the rare sailor figure! Those are some of the catching points of that one, man! The awesome cutter and sweet rare mini-fig! I love those touches that TLG used to do. Such a creative little story. And then you have that flip up panel where you can see all the sets "goodies". I wish TLG still did stuff like this. Also, I wouldn't mind having a more comprehensive box art gallery for the rest of the Pirate sets. I'd really like to see the inside of the panel and the back of the box of Skull's Eye Schooner, for instance. Or Imperial Flagship, since I used to have the box to that one as a kid! (Re-bought the set as an adult, was my first ever Lego ship) -
WIP Teaser of an American Frigate

Where did you get that rope? It looks just like the LEGO rope. That stuff is excellent, it's.. miniature rope, really! I haven't seen it anywhere besides LEGO sets. -
Shark Pirates' Island Hideaway
Skulls_Eye_Schooner_Sailor replied to Skulls_Eye_Schooner_Sailor's topic in Pirate MOCs
You mean the 89 series? Thanks! I wasn't going for that on purpose, but it kinda does, doesn't it? Reminds me of sets like Sabre Island. Thanks for the comments and views, everyone. I have a lot of MOCs already built actually, it's just a matter of cleaning them photographing, formatting and editing the pictures, uploading them, and then posting them here. It's almost more work than creating the sets themselves. -
An introductory view from head-on. The first of many quarter-angles. No, I don't know why I built that sword shrine thingy into it, but I thought it looked cool. Maybe it's part of the pirates' treasure. From this view you can see the cannon cove, back of the tower, stairs and ladder leading up to it, a chest behind, and of course, a shark! From here you can see the commander of the Shark Pirates well, and the stairs leading from the first to second level, and a small torch. A Shark Pirate with a particular sense of style and weaponry walks down the stairs that lead to the armed lookout tower, and conceals the pirates' treasure! (That almost sounded like a TLG write-up!) Side angle, note the doorway to the cove, and the small island that the stairs lead to, with a bush and storage barrel. Hear the flora of the island is prominent, as well as the lamp post in the foreground, topped by the Jolly Roger and the Shark Pirates' signature blue. Side view of the other umm... side. A Shark Pirate cannoneer mans a mini-cannon, nice profile of the sword shrine, and a scorpion lurks beneath an ancient window. A straight shot of the rear, or is it the front? It does have the cannon after all, and the treasure sword is on the other side... And just for the heck of it, sky view. Would you believe this is the first time I put it on a blue base-plate (I had to borrow it from my Imperial Trading Post), and that each edge of the island is exactly six studs from the edge of the plate? Anyway, I hope ya'll enjoy it. Let me know what you think. Comments and constructive criticism, etc etc are welcome.

Looking very nice so far, a very original color scheme and design, I think. But, that is what you call a SMALL ship? I like the lantern, that is a very nice idea for a lantern design. But, why is the bow of the ship red? Edit - Never mind, I just read the caption for the picture. I have just realized how un-useful The LEGO Group made the later bow and stern sections by making set-specific color schemes. You would require sections from BSB or CC almost exclusively for most ship designs! I mean, sure... you could have a ship with a neat red hull, but it is also dark gray! Also, I had always thought the Red Beard Runner was reddish-brown, not actually red! It didn't look red in the old catalog photos! Then, you've got SES sections where you are forced to have red in your ship's color scheme.

Hmm, well... after finally being able to see all the different Community Builds, this is a very hard decision, as so many of them are so great... but, I must put in my vote for 20. Shipyard Master's Office It's just simply so incredible... wonderful outside architecture, great mini-figs, the details inside are incredible, all the furniture and the extremely original ways of building it. I, at least, have never seen anything like it. Then, I've got just two words for you: MODEL SHIP! That is so cool! When I figured out what it was I got SUCH a kick out of it! Awesome job, Captain Blackmoor, you definitely created a very inspirational piece! I never would have thought to construct some of that furniture like that, or the idea of a model ship!
-
That's cool! Do you maybe have some other pictures of it, though? Like, more angles, more shots of the interior, and with all the sails attached? Also, I'm curious as to how the deck attaches and how the tilted sides are done. Those new bow and stern sections are pretty handy, aren't they? You can take off the top section and make an even wider variety of ship designs. I wonder, can those top sections be stacked on top of each other to make an even higher bow or stern? By the time I thought of doing it, my Imperial Flagship was already too far along.

That is just awesome, man! I can't wait to see it finished! -
"We were kinda cheated this year" - Discuss.
Skulls_Eye_Schooner_Sailor replied to Mercenary's topic in LEGO Pirates
I agree, Pie. Now I just have to get the rest of them. -
I was just wondering why people are worried about air-tightness on a Lego set. I mean, it is a toy after all, and plus, most of the mini-figures had space suits to protect them anyway. Good look filling the cockpit on something like Blizzard Baron or Super Nova II.
-
Yes, but that's a modular building. Not exactly the same thing. But yeah, it is a great base, and pretty decent in size! Oh, I see! Well, I'll just do more searches then. Review the 90s sets? Hmm, maybe I will. I don't have all the sets I had when I was a kid, but I did re-buy some of them, and own some of them I never did. So, it might be something I'll end up doing one of these days! Oh okay... so I guess no one here has bought the tow truck or the Rapid Raid VPR thingy yet. I might get the second one, so... I could probably review it if I do. Makes sense, though. Got to own it to review it. That would be a shame if Space Police is going to end quite soon. Still, we got a decent array of sets from it, and many of them were very good. We can only hope that if it does end, they'll continue with these new Space sets and equally good or even better theme replaces it!

Wow, man! I saw this link in your signature and I just had to check it out! It's so awesome. I can honestly say I could never build anything like that. For one, I don't have that many pieces, but for two... I could never build all those complicated technic functions you've got in there! How did you do it? Did you plan out ahead or draw schematics? Also, wow... so many cool computer consoles! Where did you get all those? Also, how come just the one Blacktron guy looks different? You have an interesting approach to customizing the flight packs. I would just put the little neon green studs on them. Most impressive, man! I have some much smaller (obviously) space creations that I've built, that I plan on sharing here eventually. It's just a pain to clean the pieces, set up to take pictures, and then edit the photos one by one on your PC.

Does anyone know why there's no review for that 09 rover, or any of the '10 sets? Not only that, I am shocked that many of the great space sets of the 90s do not even have reviews!

Astraeus-Class Battlecruiser
Skulls_Eye_Schooner_Sailor replied to filip skywalker's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Oh, so it's not meant to be a Star Wars ship, then? In any case, that's pretty cool, I think! Not minifig scale, but... you can build far "larger" things that way, and include many details. -
Furthermore, why are people complaining about cockpits not being airtight on a friggen Lego toy? I mean, besides that, many of the older sets weren't very "airtight" either. I really like the idea of the new Space Police, of having futuristic version of current technology, like ATMs, cars, trucks, motorcycles... it's so cool! Then you have the Galactic Enforcer which is just a big space ship, kind of like the flag ships of the old Space themes, which is also very cool.
