  1. Any chance you can edit that first post to include links for all the threads where they have appeared? It's kind of hard to judge just from one picture, and I haven't been a member here since this whole shebang started.
  2. Oh, I see. It's too bad Lego didn't make even wider hulls, or a way to expand them. Of course, you could always make hulls out of bricks. Have you ever seen that WWII British battleship online that this guy built? He used blue baseplates for the bottom! It's pretty awesome!
  3. Oh lawdy... how could I forget about that Death Star. It's a solid chunk of brickyness! And also 100s of dollars! The tower though, that is a bit different since it is architecture and not in mini-fig scale. That's got to be one of the tallest Lego sets though, right? I mean, it looks bigger than any previous space bases, or police stations, firehouses, etc...
  4. I suppose we can just agree to disagree then, as this has been my favorite Pirate ship I dreamed of owning since childhood. Cool, I look forward to the revamped review! It deserves it. And yeah, your ship was definitely missing some bricks. You think you could post some box art? I think... I've only seen the back of this thing's box when I looked at it in stores as a young'in. It had some really cool alternate designs on there. And maybe some of the flap and what's beneath it, as well.
  5. Hah, that is always good to have that one answered, and I am thinking you are probably right. I mean, the old boxes were practically works of art themselves! I loved flipping them up in the stores when I was little, dreaming of sets I could never have! Until much, much later, of course. Well, you can always buy baseplates (I REALLY needs some blue ones), but it's not really the same, eh? It would have been nice to have on with Loot Island, as well, I thought... I was talking about what I paid for my Trading Post, heh.
  6. Wow, I really like this one. What a neat idea you had! It totally looks like one of the old Pirate buildings. I liked how you used the curve bricks to make the lazy guy look like his legs are hanging off the platform. Edit, you know... I probably could have had one of my small structures be added to this "community build". But one has a large harbor attached to it, and the other one is meant to be an island. I also don't even know if they'd fit the size requirements. Probably not!
  7. I don't get how it's not in scale. Are you saying it's too small? I mean, the lanterns on a Lego ship are about the right size, actually. I imagine those schooners are pretty much in scale. Why isn't this ship?
  8. That's awesome man! I love how this was built using almost nothing but normal bricks!
  9. So that is why the guy with the Rapid Raid VPR has a red visor! He's supposed to be a commando! Interesting. I am thinking I would get at least that set. I saw many of them at a local target. But, that limo is pretty cool too! Although, I am only seeing a few of these 2010 sets in stores as of yet. By the way, I am so happy that they are bringing back the Space theme and are doing with these cool new Space Police. I always loved the Space Police that were around when I was a kid. That base looks expensive though. It's awfully tall for something made of LEGO bricks!
  10. This is an excellent review! I love the Ice Planet theme, one of my faves! I had the three smallest sets as a child, and recently bought all the sets except for the Ice Tunnelator and the plow. I really want that plow! Did you ever do that Space Police 2 review?
  11. A very nice review you've got going here. My brother and I had the two saucers and robots as kids. Sadly, they are no longer in one piece! I would greatly like to repurchase them at some point, and pick up the base as well! This is definitely one of my favorite lines! But why isn't this review indexed?! Also, the whole space theme has almost no reviews, either that or most of them were never indexed! How can this be? Also, I will add that the Spyrius vehicles were inserted into some catalog scenes invading the Ice Planet homeworld, so yes... they had something to do with them! Also, wasn't there something in the catalogs about the Spyrians trying to steal the rocket technology?
  12. I love it, this thing is just so creative! They better watch out for the Imperials are going to raid it, though!
  13. I really like this one! Good job all around. It has some very memorable features and little details that I like. But, it says that the Brickshelf gallery is still private!
  14. It's supposed to be a pirate ship, matey. Personally, I find the BSB too fancy to be that!
  15. Can someone answer me, please? Oh yeah, hope you guys don't mind that I bumped some of these excellent reviews!
  16. Oooh, very original design elements here, definitely looks like a rundown in the Pirates would frequent! I like it!
  17. Looks much better. But, is that Blacktron green, I see?
  18. Oh Fires-torm, I see! Yeah, I can see how you could see that. Actually, speaking of the term in both cases, I ordered a pretty cool Junk ship from China a while back, the only problem: it isn't official Lego! But it was so cheap and the design so great I could not resist! Although, I suppose, one could always replace the bricks with real Lego? The sail it came with is great, though! What's a MOD? I think this ship is different enough from the original to not be considered a modified Cross Bone Clipper, in any case! But thanks!
  19. Hmm, I don't understand why everyone is complaining about the colors on this ship. Apparently you people don't hang around Hispanic areas very much. Well, they often paint their stuff in garish colors like that, so why not their ships! It is, in fact, very fitting, and I think it has a lot of originality and personality to the design and color scheme, and those Conquistadors are so darn cool! Although, I have a customized one that I added some bricks to. I think it looks much nicer now. I might have to take some pics and show ya'll. Perhaps the figurehead is a gargoyle or lion? I wish someone knew!
  20. Nice review, but I think you were too harsh on your subject! This Skull's Eye Schooner is a thing of beauty; perfection! And look at that, not one person voted a 3, not even the grand Black Seas Barracuda can boast that! What were those people thinking, though? I love this ship so much and I stared it forever in that awesome scene it was depicted in in the old Lego catalog. I never even realized that it used wider hull sections. In fact, I had no clue how big it was as a kid. I figured it just added one more middle hull section. Years later I finally realized my childhood dream and got one of these babies! I will add that I think it makes a more convincing Pirate ship than the BSB as that ship is far too fancy for something the pirates might have. This one is artistic but is more rugged and utilitarian, and has a more piratey color scheme as well. I love the working wheel feature! Just... so many great things about this ship, I could go on forever! I love pushing and spinning the cannons back and forth. Another nice feature, and those holds at the front make a good place to store all kinds of booty. I also really love how the cabin stretches out so far behind the rear hull section, and the red stripe, I suppose the gray is meant to be metal armor? Anyway, mine even had the rare figure, and I got a good deal on it, even though it was from Germany! I also like that mine had green lanterns which I think matches the ship's overall color scheme better. You may want to switch yours! SES, best pirate ship ever! But then, I may just be a little biased for aforementioned reasons!
  21. Very good review. This is one that I dreamed of having as a child, along with Skull's Eye Schooner. That merchant ship is like the coolest thing ever! Anyway, I paid 200+ for one of these, complete, with a box. I might have gotten hosed by that bidding war, but I just couldn't resist it! I figured perhaps the rare figure (his head is rare too, not just his torso..) and box added to the price and demand, I dunno'... Speaking of those old boxes, are they awesome or what! They have that flip-up panel to show of the special parts and figures, features, and even a short narrative! Why do the boxes these days suck so much? They don't have that panel for the large sets, and the pieces are just loose in the box...
  22. Awesome review! This is the largest Pirate set I had as a child besides Imperial Flagship. And what a set it is! Besides all the features mentioned, there's even a little cooking area! Very cool! I am surprised no one mentioned it. I vividly remember after doing some chores I had enough money to buy either this or the Renegade Runner. I was in Toys R Us. Let's see... a cool, small ship with four figures or an awesome Piratey hideout with seven figures, including a lady pirate, and two Blue Coats (my only two for the longest time). You see, by then, you could only get Red Coats! Anyway, I don't regret my decision, but I have yet to re-buy this set, sadly. I want to... and I still don't have a Renegade Runner. Can you believe I lost that giant baseplate somehow (and the small blue sail)?
  23. A dingy with no blocks is better than Crossbone Clipper! Yes, that is a Spaniard. I put that Dragon Master head with red hair and pretend he's Cabeza de Vaca. That jail door is also their ladder, by the way! Thanks for the comments!
  24. Very nice, my only criticism is that those top windows should probably be a different color than the walls. Although, why is the top of the building all yellow, anyways?
  25. This is probably one of the most awesome ships I have seen! But, how much did all the pieces cost you, and how did you make those sails? Also, do you have access to the lower decks and interior, and if so, could we see some photos? Also, how did you get the sides to tilt like that? And, I have always been wondering what is that white that runs along the cannon line on ships. What do people mean by Mini-fig illusion scale? It looks in scale to me... Like I have often said, the schooners TLG releases are huge, but if they really released a legit ship of the line it would cost 100s!
