I agree with this. Some concrete guesses: - big dragon castle (maybe with some sort of leader) - a smaller (10-20$) set containing the lion king

Just a short critique: it would be harder to figure out if the bottom (inside the spiral) was not visible, just the walls.

Builiding Contest entry: A day in the mexican desert

Be that as it may... the scene is definitely more fun in its current form! -
You could try to build a big castle yourself from two copies of 7947 Prison Tower Rescue. Check out these threads for ideas: thread 1, thread 2. The lion side of the set contains two exclusive minifigures, they fetch a good price if you don't want to keep them, so overall, you can get a decent dragon castle for much cheaper than the big lion castle. You can use the extra equipment (dragon shields, pearl dark gray weapons) to equip the dragon soldiers from the two small sets.

Maybe make it a small set instead, like 7950? I like the idea very much and would definitely buy a set like this, but I don't see how you can make it work without at least 2 minifigures. Truth be told, it could be 3 figures total, with a real prisoner tortured and the skeleton of a former guest smiling in the corner.

Nice positioning. Those Spartan warriors look awesome with their spears held out! Fire is a very good idea. Great composition overall.

Why has Kingdoms replaced Castle on Lego.com?
Stiel replied to LegoFreak5's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I guess the point was they could have just made Kingdoms a subtheme of Castle (as it really is). The previous line, now known as Fantasy Era, was officially considered Castle, so why is Kingdoms different? It's pretty counterintuitive to me. Anyway, Brickset knows better too. : Kingdoms on Brickset -

It is rumoured that an elf minifigure is coming up in Collectible Minifig Series vol. 3. -

I guess they are just trying to shake things up a bit, like if they were selling us something new. But we know better. Even our LGS just put in the new sets under Castle. -
My axe (halberd?) from the set 7947 has the following text on the blade: © LEGO 3848 7-02 Since 3848 is the official item number, I suppose it's the same printing on all of them now.

Great review, thanks a lot! Me too, I'm surprised about the number of extras, especially all those 3x swords. 3x pearl dark grey swords is just nice. Also, I noticed that the new pearl light grey weapons are slightly darker than the old ones. I like that. I suppose it would have been too good to be true if they made included even those parts that you mentioned (dragon shield, plume etc.), but as it is, this set is still a must-have. Some great ideas (dummy, sword in the rock), lots of cool minifigs and some nice accessories.

Nice! This is a sort-of counterpart to set 7048, right? It looks pretty good. Great use of dark colors. (Plus those pearl dark gray weapons still look awesome.)

You can still give a link to the pics (use the link tag, not the pic tag).

Tough question, but it's gotta be 6086. There are many nice castles, but this one stands out in so many ways: nice structure, lots of detail, great use of the raised baseplate, good color scheme, minifigures, equipment...

Great job! I honestly think that 2 boxes of Prison Tower Rescue is more value for money than 1 box of King's Castle. This work is yet another example why.

Wow, I love it! The pig rider was particularly funny. The sunflowers are also lovely. I was wondering... did you try to fit older plumes into the new forestman hat (coming from the collectable minifigure series)? I think older plumes are a tad too large and doesn't fit properly. (Of course you have a lot of older hats too, so you might have avoided this issue completely...)

Being minifig-oriented, it's probably the advent calendar. 7949 Prison Carriage and 7947 Prison Tower are next.

Question. Are the shields good quality? I ask because I plan to order a few shields from BL (figures only from boxed sets) and it would be nice to know whether there are any low quality Kingdoms shields out there or not. So, anyone who has opened battlepacks - please tell about the shields. Thank you in advance.

My wife also likes MMV a lot. So yeah, you are not alone with that. If you want something less expensive, look out for this year's advent calendar. It's like a mini-village (without the buildings).
-
I also had this idea, but you were faster. :) Even though I thought about building something more castle-like, I have to admit that your tower looks great! As a side note: I think this set is the best in a resource sense from the Kingdoms line. Great selection of bricks for buildings, and the minifigures and equipment is also a plus.

Wow, that's awesome! Poor purple knights. The wings have a very nice curve, the last picture shows it best. Great job!

I tried to come up with a number of ideas for impulse sets. I admit they are not very original, some are just rehashes of existing sets, and I was also thinking about what parts of larger sets (MMV etc.) would go down as standalone impulses. Anyway, here are some pics. Crown cart Crown king with throne Forestman with archery target Scorpion halberdier White Lady Comments, critiques and more ideas are welcome! What would YOU like to see as an impulse?

Fantasy novels count? I really liked the Hawk & Fisher series from Simon R. Green. Hawk and Fisher are husband and wife and captains in the City Guard of the port city Haven. Hawk has only one eye, and he uses a magical axe. Fisher uses a sword. No mails, as it would just hinder them during combat. One more detail is their standard issue Guard cloaks: For a more detailed description (and original artwork etc.), go to the Amazon page for the book, click on the cover and then 'First Pages'.

I really like how you can use the cheese slopes sideways to make the well look round! Very well done.

I loved the Black Falcons a lot. Those blue-black colors looked awesome! From recent themes, the scorpions from KKII come close, and possibly the new green-black dragons.
