So what are you saying? If someone disagrees with your opinion on what's good or bad they are either narrow minded or just trolling? Sounds kinda narrow minded to me I don't like it. That does not mean I have to have a problem with people who disagree with me because I don't, so lets keep it friendly shall we?

Effe's MOC Corner

And you say you want to put portal axles on it? Surely the axles you have are better. -
I have mixed feelings on it. I'm very glad for the new servos, i've been asking for them for a long time and now they are here it's great and I am very greatful! However the model itself is just too inauthentic mechanicly. Whoever heard of a 4x4 like this having an engine mounted inside the axle itself. The motors should be under the hood (we could have also had a fake engine). And because of this the axles are huge, almost the same diameter of the tyre, and so the rolling chassis neither works or looks authentic (also for the poor geometry pointed out by nicjasno. At least in the unimog it was mechnicily similar to real life). The body looks cool but also like nothing special and too busy. A set like 8880 just gave you all the lines of a supercar and so there was nothing to destract your eye from the beautifully sculpted lines (impressively done with just studded beams and hinge plates). In 9398 however your eyes are drawn all over the place. The seats look like child booster seats and again no working steering wheel (a flip up body is no excuse ). I've said this before but when I look at sets like 8880 and 8480 I really do get the feeling that the designers are not given as much time as they used to get to design these sets, and so i'm not blaming the designers, it's higher up I think.

What do you do when the box art and instructions differ?
allanp replied to SheepEater's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I go for whichever looks/works best. In the 8868 (see my avatar) instructions, a fairly critical pulley wheel turns from one size to another the very next page after it is implemented. -
Should be fine if it works like most other RC servos. The internal motor will have power given to it until the output shaft reaches it's required destination. At that point power is cut from the motor and it stops where it is. When the control stick on the transmitter is released and allowed to go back to centre, all the other motors would stop, but the servo starts and goes back to centre, and then stops. So no more stalled motors and precise control, perfect for pneumatic switches and so on.

[REVIEW] 9398 - Rock Crawler
allanp replied to Blakbird's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Better? Yes. Ideal? Don't know. The V2 reciever has been beefed up to handle 2 L-motors on one port. I don't know how the power consumption of the L-motor compares to the XL-motor. It has also not been said weather or not the V2 receiver can handle 4 L-motors in total (2 per port). I would think that the current limits of the battery pack could come into play here. Also, what about RC buggy motors? -

I think it's to do with power consumption. The new reciever can provide more power and can safely power two L-motor from one port, whereas the older versions could not without putting too much stress on some internal electrical components. -

I wonder if this increased power capability will better serve the power needs of the RC buggy motor? -
